I made an appointment a week prior to today June 11th 2021. The next day I started getting daily confirmations and I called and asked Jasmine why and she said no one's ever complained about this before. I said I don't like being contacted daily for an appointment a week ahead of time. I sent an email to the office manager, Rhea and she never contacted me for 3 days. Today they sent me an email to fill out my history and it was very labour intensive one page took about 15 minutes, which I've never seen in a dental office I called and spoke to Jasmine for help because I couldn't go to the next page on the computer to fill out the paperwork, but she couldn't help me so she again referred me to Rhea who was rude and nasty and told me since I'm having all these problems not to come in and I said great. read more

Words can't describe how much I regret going to this practice and I'm still paying for the mistake of letting them do any work on my teeth. Two years ago I went there and was told that I needed a full menu of restoration work - even though I never felt any pain or noticed any issues with my teeth up to that point. I simply went in for a cleaning. I was upsold on porcelain onlays, which are supposed to last for ten or more years, but which had ALL started to fail by year 1 and needed to be replaced by crowns by another dentist. The amateur work that this practice did made me lose far more tooth structure than I would have if the work was done right to begin with... if the procedures were even necessary in the first place. So far, an onlay broke.. I needed to get a root canal on the same tooth, get another onlay from Ingber (which broke AGAIN), then needed to get a crown placed by another dentist. And now, I'm looking at having another onlay removed, another root canal and another crown. My dentist also says that the filling that Ingber Dental placed on another tooth was done so poorly that it will have to be replaced as well. Keep in mind that your insurance will not cover major restorations that need to be redone after a few months. You WILL bare the full cost for Igner Dental's mistakes, and there is no recourse for compensation or remedy. Also remember, it's a very slippery slope when you get restorations done... if you have to continue fixing mistakes, you lose more and more of your teeth.. then what? The reviews here don't lie. I generally move through life without regrets but visiting this practice is a major life regret which permeates most of my daily thoughts. Life is more stressful due to my dental situation. My quality of life has decreased since visiting. I haven't smiled in years. I barely talk anymore because I don't want anyone to see my mouth. I can't eat anything and the multiple cracks hold hidden bacteria which form bad breath despite brushing, flossing and mouth rinsing or oil pulling. I've spent thousands of out-of-pocket dollars that I cannot get back!!! Visiting an unknown backwoods clinic in Tijuana seems like a better option than this demonic practice. My main issues: 1. I visited this office a few years ago to restore ONE tooth but wound up being upsold on porcelain onlays for my top front row of teeth to achieve a nicer smile. I already had a nice smile before smh. 2. The replacement tooth for my broken tooth is too white. Everyone knows its fake. I don't bleach 3. The dental bonding/porcelain onlays LASTED LESS THAN ONE YEAR before the bonding started to chip off! Dental bonding is slated to last 3-10 years!!! One of my teeth cracked while eating a Potbelly's meatball sub. Today, my teeth are wobbly and there is noticeable decay forming in the in those cracked bonded spots. 4. Unprofessional women: Dr. Ingber's harem of inexperienced competitive women were obviously envious of the attention I received from their boss causing them to carelessly install my bonding, probably on purpose. They were also the only dentists I've ever visited who were completely nonchalant towards any discomfort I felt. A few times during the bonding process, I raised my hand a few times to signal pain and they completely ignored me. They just kept going. Catty much? Thank God for Karma! I caution and highly discourage women of a particular "spirit" to refrain from using this dentist due to the catty female dentists and their catty female assistants. Warning to mothers of young children: Stay away from this practice! I am sad to be writing this review, because my family has been very happy with this dental practice (esp Dr P) for over 3 years. However, I am very sad to report that this is not a patient centered or respectful practice. I had to cancel a very early morning appt because my toddler became suddenly ill overnight. When I called in the morning (about 15 min past my appt time) I was told I would be charged a $150 broken appt fee. After some back and forth they reduced it to $75. I emailed the office manager hoping that she would understand my situation--I was stuck at home with no options. No such luck. After speaking with both Drs (Porvaznik and Ingber) in the practice, she told me they could do nothing more about the fee. Not working with a mother with a sick child is just beyond the pale. They have lost my entire family as patients and they simply do not care. Their policies are petty and short sighted. That $75 will be the last money they will every receive from us! My review is only for my most recent experience. My past experiences (in terms of care and scheduling) have been fine. Recently, I've received 2 calls to cancel/reschedule the same appointment, within a one week timeframe. The 2nd call was 1 hour before my actual appointment. I've never a doctor call me to cancel/reschedule the appointment (but I would understand it if it happened), however 2 phonecalls within one week is just too much. Dr. Ingber is a lovely, sweet, intelligent polymathic man. 5 stars for him. 0 stars for his admin staff. They are disorganized and rude. I was looking for a dentist to treat my TMJ. I went to their website, made an appointment using their online booking link to ZocDoc, and got a confirmation email. Then I got an email from the admin person, "I would like to schedule your appointment with Dr. Ingber. Please give me a call so I can find a good time for you to come in." I forwarded her the confirmation email and asked if I could keep 11am I booked. She never responded. I emailed again, no response. I called and left a message (from RWANDA! I was overseas for work.) No response. So I just showed up at that time. Lo and behold she didn't have my appointment and I had to reschedule part of it. No apologies. Thankfully I did get to see Dr. Ingber that day which I appreciate. I asked to use the ladies room during my visit and the admin person literally chucked a dirty toothbrush with a key on it at me. She didn't tell me where the bathroom was, so I walked around the entire floor looking for it, wondering what kind of nasty germs were crawling on my hands from that key. I had to make another appointment for the cleaning- the most painful and bloody cleaning I've ever had in all my 34 years. I went back again last week to pick up my nightguard. They confirmed it arrived, but they LOST IT in their office! They didn't bother to call me to reschedule, they made me go all the way there only to learn it had been delivered but the admin person misplaced it, and they had to make the casts again. It was SO unpleasant I almost vomited the first time, and for real vommed the second time. They fill a huge metal tray with wet rubbery plaster and shove it in your mouth till you gag. Little crumbles of plaster slide down your throat and tongue. When Dr. Ingber told me they lost my nightguard, I told him how unhappy I am with his admin staff. Only then did he tell me that ZocDoc is not synced with their appointment system, so despite the confirmation, I didn't really have an appointment. Well why do they use ZocDoc then? Or at the very least why not just put a line on the website saying "these times may not be up to date- please wait to hear from us personally to confirm your appointment or to choose another time." I had to shell out $900 for that damn nightguard, because they do not take insurance and you have to get reimbursed. Another yelper messaged me to say they do not submit paperwork for reimbursement to your insurance company unless you nag them. She was right. It took me 8 MONTHS to get reimbursed. I called a dozen times and each time they said they had submitted the paperwork, but the insurance company never received it. Literally I wasted like 40 hours of my life on this ridiculousness. The worst part of it is that every time the admin person calls me, she mispronounces my name a different way. My name is pronounced 100% phonetically and it's 4 letters- JOYA. Joy with an A. I know white people get confused easily by ethnic names, but how hard is that? She even spelled it completely wrong on the invoice, after I'd submitted all my paperwork and corrected her several times. Really disrespectful. If you have a busy life and don't want to spent it in the dentist office, go somewhere else! read more

Dr. Ingber has been my dentist for almost 30 years. His office has a strong commitment to good dental health. I haven't had dental emergencies and/or huge dental problems because I have followed his advise in caring for my teeth and gums and the results have been good. The office is well located and quite punctual. I have worked in many different locations around the DC area and it's always been easy to get to his K-Street office. This means that I've have not had to switch dentists and have benefited from continuityty of care. He doesn't do needless dental work because he knows my teeth and how they've done over the past years. He's incorporated technology into his practice in ways that improve record keeping and reduce costs. He's up to date on dental techniques. My dental work is good looking and well done. Given his location and the quality of service he provides he is not a cheap dentist. Bargin hunters probably should look elsewhere. I for one don't want a bargain dentist who is out to maximize volume without regard to my unique dental situation. I want a quality dentist. Good teeth are a must-have for professionals in the DC area and his office is in the business of keeping teeth in your mouth and looking good. read more

This was my initial visit to the Ingber practice and found the staff extremely welcoming. The on short notice, the practice bent over backwards to get me scheduled with a dentist for a second opinion. My scheduled appointment time was 0800, I was in the chair seeing the hygienist at 0803 and the dentist shortly after my X Rays. I was very frustrated and had completely lost confidence with my previous dentist. Ingber, was professional took the time to explain what I needed and discussed my options, Ingber answered my questions, even when I repeated asked questions for my clarity. He is motivated only by money and is generally incompetent as a Dentist He recommends unnecessary procedures that just serve to run up his bill. He has no sensitivity to causing pain. In general my experiences with him are very similar other negative reviews. Dr. Provosnick is a great dentist and I would not have left this practice if he were my dentist... I've been coming to Dr. Ingber for a few years and have had nothing but a positive experience with him, the other doctors, and the administrative staff. On the last point, I've had to cancel/reschedule at the last minute a few times, and the staff has always been great about finding me a new appointment. I've never been charged a late cancellation fee (I think they have a policy in place, but it's not enforced if you explain nicely). I also get various email/text/call reminders starting about a week before my appointment, which is helpful since most of us choose to forget that the dentist exists between teeth cleanings. In terms of the dentistry itself, I've never felt like I'm being upcharged for problems that don't exist. Granted, I have good teeth that haven't needed much beyond routine cleanings, but I've found Dr. Ingber to be attentive, thorough, and quick. I once brought up a slight shift in my bottom teeth, which had a permanent retainer on them at the time. He recommended an appointment with Dr. Porvaznik, which I was able to get on the books for the following week. Dr. Porvaznik followed the same pattern: helpful, friendly, and not pushy at all. He quickly discovered that the retainer wire was starting to lift from the back of my teeth, creating the uneven pressure that was causing the shift. He explained to me that this issue is why he doesn't recommend permanent retainers (which my old ortho had installed about 10 years ago and declared as something that would keep my teeth straight for life...guess not). He suggested doing a series of Invisalign retainers to correct the movement and then a final version to maintain the straightened teeth. Since I've invested a lot in and care quite a bit about my teeth, I agreed with this plan, expecting the additional visits and progressive retainers to cost me upwards of a thousand dollars. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the whole process came to just $200 and accomplished exactly what I wanted. I'm surprised and perplexed by some of the one-star reviews; perhaps the staff has turned over or I've simply never encountered the problematic individuals. I also know that dental patients aren't always pleasant themselves, so for potential newcomers: I'd suggest trying for yourself and drawing your own conclusions. read more

No, no, no, no, no, no, NO. TL;DR: They made me pay the full amount out of pocket despite being told they accept my insurance, gave me the runaround for six months about getting my money back, double-billed me and my insurance company for the same procedures, and violated patient privacy by sending me other patient information multiple times. Don't go here. Want the details? Read on. And as long as this is, I swear this is the summarized version. Basically, despite being told in advance that Ingber Dental takes my insurance and confirming it after sending them my insurance card, they asked me to pay $624 up front and that they would submit paperwork for my reimbursement instead. Annoying, but workable, I guess. Except that it took more than three months of haranguing to get them to send anything and had multiple emails go completely ignored by the insurance coordinator. Every time I could actually get someone to respond to me, I was basically told, "Oh, yeah, we'll submit that now!" as though it was a new request, except it was apparently never submitted. Ultimately, I had to go to my insurance's dental subcontractor's website myself and send the paperwork to office manager Angie in the front office to get anything processed, which took more than three months from my appointment date. But hey, at least Angie (usually) eventually responded to my emails: When Angie put me in touch with insurance coordinator Emily, I never got a single response But oh wait, it gets better! After no reimbursement more than four months from my appointment date, I checked with my parents (I was still on their insurance). Lo and behold, they'd received a letter from the insurance company saying my claim had been approved -- except it hadn't been submitted as a request for reimbursement, it was submitted as a request for payment for services rendered -- except I already paid! They double-billed me and the insurance company for the same services. Moreover, because it was in-network, the negotiated rate was only $200, not the $624 I had been asked to pay up front. Given that no one had been in touch with me about getting a refund, it was pretty clear they had no intention of reimbursing me unless I took action. After bringing the issue to Angie's attention (which involved more emails with no response, of course), I was told I'd just missed their check run and it would be issued at the beginning of the next month. It was Oct. 5, so apparently they did their check runs in the first five days of the month, I figured. When I hadn't heard anything more than five weeks later, I sent more emails, which, unsurprisingly, went unreturned. When I finally got the check six weeks after my request for the full reimbursement -- nearly six months after my appointment -- it was for $200, which was the negotiated rate the insurance company had paid, not the $624 I paid up front. After several more emails and phone exchanges, in which I told them I would be seeking legal counsel and discussing their billing practices with my insurance company if a check was not issued immediately, I finally received a check for the additional $424. The check was issued almost six months to the day of my appointment date. All patients at this practice also need to worry about their privacy. Angie sent me two emails containing patient information for other patients. After I brought the first one that just contained a patient name to her attention ("My apologies please disregard that email," read the entire response), she sent me a document containing TONS of private and personally identifying information on a patient. She sent an email a few minutes later asking me to disregard, but I'd already seen it. Holy HIPAA violations, Batman! Angie also asked me to send a social security number over email at one point, which I realized later is probably not on the up and up either -- I used to work in a medical office and we were told very clearly email is not considered a secure form of communication and we could not request private identifying information via email. "Money-driven practice" sums it up. Dr. Ingber is very concerned with being paid regardless of whether or not services are rendered or administrative policies are customer service friendly. In short -- if you move out of the country and remember to call and cancel your January 2014 teeth cleaning that they fooled you into scheduling in July 2013 (that they never called or emailed to confirm) or like paying $150 for services you didn't receive then this is the office for you. The long story: I had a teeth cleaning here in July of 2013 and the office staff asked to schedule the following teeth cleaning 6 months out. I felt uncomfortable with the idea since DC is a transitive town and what if I had different insurance provider in 6 months or a conflict come the year 2014? They reassured me that I would get a call to confirm in advance. Lo and behold, a few days ago I received a bill for $150 when they obviously didn't contact me to confirm the appointment in DC...because then they would know I'd moved on and was on a different continent. I called the office three times over Skype during business hours and no one answered. I wrote an email on the website explaining the situation, denouncing the policy and indicating that I was in Tunisia, and got a long winded and unkind response from Dr. Ingber himself who said they only had my email address on file (though they never emailed me about this...) and saying it's standard practice to charge when people don't show up (understandable, but who schedules appointments 6 months in advance and doesn't confirm them??). He ended the email by saying "I welcome the opportunity to meet you in person and have a friendly discussion about the above. I am confident that someone from my administrative staff will contact you very soon." ...This would be nice, but once again, since I said I missed the appointment because I'm in North Africa... kind of makes it seem like he's not listening and doesn't care about anything but getting $150. I very rarely write online reviews, but felt I had to upon terminating my business with this practice. I saw Dr. Ingber for 7 years. I am a bit of a "special case" as far as my dental issues go so I need a lot of work done. His work was good and his staff are nice enough. Everything was going well until about one year ago. 1) last year during a checkup, he told me to come back for a filling. I came back and he proceeded to do a CROWN without telling me. I don't need to explain the difference in cost between a filling and a crown. This forced me to open a line of credit in order to pay for it because Delta would not reimburse me for it. I should've ended it there but I'm stupid and didn't want to "make a scene." 2) I came back to the office for the removal of the same temporary crown. I told him the base (what is left of the tooth underneath) felt very sensitive and I wanted novocaine. He said "let's just try it without it", grabbed the pliers, and yanked it off. It was very painful and I got angry. He said, "If I had numbed you, you would have been here a lot longer!" I'm not stupid, I know if there's injections involved you are going to be sitting for a while. I guess he didn't want me wasting his time. 3) On the Monday after this past Christmas, I came down with a very bad throat infection. I had an appointment for a cleaning the same day. I was in no condition to go. I called the office to cancel. 2 weeks ago I received a bill from them for a $150 broken appointment fee. It is impossible to give a 24 hour notice if you wake up feeling legitimately ill on the morning of the appointment! That was the last straw. I told them it was not my fault that I got sick, I was not paying it, and would be leaving the practice. He personally wrote me an email (he knows me and it wasn't just a canned form letter) asking me to come in to discuss it and he wanted me to still be his patient. I said no thanks, please hold my records until I can find another office. Let's see if they send me another bill for the $150... Compassionate and conservative dentist. Full disclosure: I have high dental needs. I am not your average see-the-dentist-for-a-cleaning-twice-a-year type of patient, so over the last 5 years since i've been a patient, i've had a LOT of interactions with Dr. Ingber, Dr. P and their staff. I have a compromised immune system and jaws of steel (read: clenching and grinding and breaking of teeth), so I've had a lot of dental work for my age...and when I have a problem with my teeth it needs to be fixed, and fast, as any infection or problem can progress very quickly into severe danger/health complication territory. Dr. Ingber is among the best dentists I've seen for my needs. I've been his patient for years now, and although their office is now out of my dental network he continues to work with me to pay for crowns, implants, mouthguards, fillings, and small cracks. He always suggests all of the options if I need work done, and lets me choose which is the best fit for my budget and my health needs. He's fixed failed/poor dental work I had at another dentist, and preserved my tooth structure in every possible way. He answers his cell phone on the weekend in an emergency, and Carrie, Angie and the crew will fit me in without question for an appointment, whether something is loose, cracked, painful, or needs adjusting. Dr. Ingber really does care about his patients' oral health, and his work on my teeth has been flawless and tireless. If you just need a basic cleaning and you've never had a cavity, well, this will be a pretty easy 30 minutes spent in the chair. But if you've got high dental needs, you've delayed some complex work, or you get nervous at the dentist - Dr. Ingber really is very professional, very personable, and just the best. Going to the dentist is generally awful, but seeing Dr. Ingber isn't really so bad. read more

If you are a patient, run away and never look back. There are very few dentists this incompetent, unprofessional, and greedy. Dr. Ingber forgot to put a cotton roll between my tongue and the fixture, while the fixture was getting cemented. Result? My tongue got stuck to the cement, like it does to the ice. Apologies? I completely agree with the person who said that Dr. Ingber was a money-driven practice. Not happy with my primary-care dentist, my endodontist referred me to Dr. Porvaznik. I made an appoint to have my teeth cleaned, met Dr. Porvaznik, who works in the same office as Dr. Ingber, and was very favorably impressed. BUT, I was not ready to deal with my primary issue, which was the need some sort of reconstruction after having three teeth pulled. I made another appointment to have my teeth cleaned, fully expecting to have the same hygienist and to have the same positive experience. I was rather startled to find that I was facing a different hygienist. I was given a prep speech about implants. Then Dr. Ingber came into the procedure room and started on a hard sell for implants. Now, I had not decided whether I wanted to go for implants or something less invasive. All I had done was make an appointment for a cleaning. I had not requested a consult from him. For the next half hour or so I was given a hard sell that would put a used car salesman to shame. Then, after promising to consult with my husband and schedule a follow-up appointment with Dr. Ingber, I was given a truly mediocre teeth cleaning. Which I paid for, of course. I have no idea how good or bad a dentist Dr. Ingber is. I do know that he is an unethical business person in the extreme. Professionals do not go around trying to steal their colleagues' clients. I'd planned on making an appointment with Dr. Porvaznik in order to discuss my options, but I won't set foot back in that office. It wasn't the $15,000 - $20,000 price tag that I was quoted for three teeth, it was the ethics of the man whose name is on the door. I was completely horrified. I hope that Dr. Porvaznik relocates so that I can use his services. He truly seems like a great dentist. read more
