Well my daughter is now on to her third year of competitive dance. We made a hard decision to change schools due to moving. We luckily had found Infinity which is right in Plainfield and close to our house. You'll find a great location and they have just redecorated the entire interior of the studio. There are several separate dance spaces for the different practices. The staff and manager seemed quite nice. They do offer both competitive dance and regular classes. If you are new to dance they can asses your child and let you know what would be a good starting point. Even after several years they still will want to watch your child to see where they stand. Thus far I have enjoyed the straightforward communication and expectations for the forthcoming year. My daughter is enjoying it and it must be thorough as she is a bit tired but she is doing 3 hours a day for 3 days a week. An honest review from a mom with 2 girls who have danced competitively for a few years now. Infinity Dance Academy has positive points, yes they do. The instruction for there competitive program is excellent and the teachers are good to the children they instruct. The recreational dance program is average with more leniency in instruction and non-correction if the technique is done incorrectly in many cases. The yearly recital is expensive and there are many hidden costs which are not included in your recital fee. Your children are expected to purchase a t-shirt in order to participate in the finale dance. Of course it is optional but then again your children will be excluded from being in the finale if you choose not to purchase this t-shirt. Also your recital fee does not include more then 2 seats per family (not per person but per family) and extra seats are charged at a premium. The prices they charge are highly competitive and one of the main reasons many people choose to go there, it doesn't hurt that there is not another competitive dance studio in the area that comes close to the quality of instruction. However there competitive dance program runs late into the summer and they schedule there recital in late June and there national competition in July which leaves no room for summer vacations. Be prepared to dance year round without a summer vacation. However the bad side. The studio has a definite line between an inner and outer circle. The inner circle gets favoritism and once your "hooked" you will notice it very quickly. Yes I perhaps fall into the group that gets preferred dance choices however it doesn't mean I like seeing what happens to the ones who are not and live my life with the motto of fairness for all as all Christians should. The owner of the studio is not approachable to many and will act very indifferent in many cases to any concerns you may have. She deals with many issues in a very unprofessional manner. However on the other hand the office manager is high approachable and a pleasure to deal with. My recommendation is to search out another studio even if it means driving just a little bit farther and paying a little bit more. UPDATE 2016: This year's recreational recital was a huge disaster. Not enough time is spent learning dances and most dances were songs almost cut in half. Numbers have dropped and many many recreational dancers were upset with this years recital. From being in various studios and also knowing friends in other studios, the recreational program needs to have time for the students to learn the dances and make for a good show. They only start learning the recital dance in March and then expect students to put on a polished show by June. At 30 minutes a week minusing spring break this is absolutely not enough time!!! I absolutely do no recommend the recreational program changes and if so I will do an update here! Info above still is correct however new info is in regards to new "policies" that were implemented in Summer 2016. Dancers are required to take 5 (yes FIVE) group classes before they are allowed to request a solo. Dancers wanting a duet or trio are required to take a minimum of 4 (yes FOUR) group dances before requesting this. This can make it costly for the parents who want the opportunity for there dancer to have the "opportunity" to dance in a smaller setting yet can't afford or perhaps don't prefer there dancer to do this many dances. Consider this information before deciding where you would like your daughter/son to dance. read more

My daughter has been going there for a few years now and we absolutely LOVE it!!! She is on the competitive team and we have both made friends with other members on the team. This last review is not anywhere near correct. The office manager sends out everything you need to know about recital and will walk you through the process. She explain EVERYTHING. So the only way you find "hidden costs" are if you aren't reading your email. 2 tickets per family is enough, especially because they are a business that has to pay to rent out Ransburg Auditorium. The teachers are very talented and have been moving up in the dance world recently. The only reason your child wouldn't be treated fairly is if they don't show enough respect or hard work. The amount of dance numbers are put in place because everyone wants a duet/solo/trio and they only give them to the ones they know are going to work hard and be committed. Having these specialty groups is an honor and with 75 kids and 5 teachers, there simply is not enough time for everyone to have a specialty number. read more
