I decided to save my 100th review for one of my favorite places ever…read more I guess you could say that a Groupon deal changed my life. Really. A few years ago, my friend and I needed a new place to get our regular Zumba fix, she found a Groupon for Studio Z, we gave it a shot and the rest is history. I won't go into too much detail on all the classes and instructors as the scheduling and instructors can change. I would recommend checking their Facebook for daily updates on the schedule. Let me start by saying this, this place is definitely worth visiting. Everyone here is incredibly nice and wants you to have a blast and meet your fitness goals as well. Tons of different class times and various instructors. They ALL rock and bring their own unique style to their classes. I have never not had fun in a class. You will find that some classes can be a bit more high energy/impact than others, so I recommend trying a few instructors to find what works best for you and your style. They currently offer one price to take any of the classes they offer that day, that means you could try multiple classes for the price you would normally pay for one elsewhere! They also offer unlimited type of passes. Check their website for current pricing and times of classes. Should you try this place out, don't be intimidated if others seem to know the songs really well, they just might as this place has many regulars, come try it out and as long as you are moving, you are doing Zumba right! Also, if you see me there (I try to go a few times a week), feel free to say hi to me, I love meeting new Zumba lovers! They also offer some alternatives to regular Zumba including Turbo Kick, Circuit Challenge and Zumba in the Circuit (Zumba + Circuit, one of my favorites!). Special shout out to Mary, one of the owners of Studio Z for being one of the most motivating, inspiring, crazy fun people ever. She is so welcoming to everyone and her classes are awesome. She is also a personal trainer and those services are offered here at as well. She has inspired many people (including myself) to go to the training to teach Zumba ourselves. She is even currently offering an option to allow these instructors to try out teaching with a free class option on Friday nights, amazing! I could go on and on about my love for Studio Z but really you should just get your butt here and get dancing!

They really make an effort to get to know you here, and the studio has a wide array of ages that take classes. No gymtimidation! I personally take the Pound classes, which are offered 6 days a week. It is a drumming style workout with a great mix of music. You can either pay $8 for 1 class, or do a 10 class pass for $55. I think $5.50 a class is VERY reasonable for a specialized workout like this one. They also offer lots of other classes including spinning, TRX, Zumba and more. They also have memberships as well if you want to do multiple types of classes during the month.

I did on a month-long unlimited, pass at a silent auction, and happily won that prize. I wanted to maximize my win, so I ended up taking a lot of classes that DanceWorks offers. Here are my thoughts: Cardio Hip hop: great for any and every level dancer. Exercise focused. K-pop: be prepared to pick up choreography, and two sequential Wednesday classes equates to one whole K-pop song routine. SWERK: picture Zumba with Twerking. Exercise focused. Great for any and every level. Ballet for absolute beginners: a very simplified, slow, basic educational course. Required for taking beginner ballet. Beginner ballet: ballet for absolute beginners will not teach you everything you need to know for this class. I'm not sure there is any way to be ready for this class. Just know you are going to feel very left behind, and sort of like an idiot for a few classes until you can catch up. But who cares? Unfortunately, I got walking pneumonia after taking all those classes, so I wasn't able to try everything they offered. However, I'd say Cardio Hip Hop was my favorite!

The 305 class was great as it included cardio and a little bit of planking/abs. I have heard some of the other classes are not necessarily a great workout since you spend most of the time learning choreo, but this class was basically Zumba. The instructor, Jill, was very high energy and welcoming--give that lady a raise! The facilities felt a little outdated, but I think it's a great value if you are a regular member for the $125/month for unlimited classes.

The facility itself is relatively new (I heard some people in the gym talking about having been going there for 20 years)! The gym maintains their gym equipment. In addition, they maintain the grounds really well. Someone is always patrolling the parking lot, Splash Island and cleaning the indoor areas. They offer various classes, including fitness and summer classes for the kids!!! Some other amenities I didn't expect -- lap swimming pool (indoor and outdoor), a lazy River and full free weight squat and bench racks. All staff are incredibly helpful and this place does a nice job training. It employs all ages and they host an annual "Getting Ready"-type training in the summer that prepares the lifeguard staff before opening. They're also fairly active on Facebook and good about communicating closings/delays. A great high school or college job for students. It's worth the price too! Any commercial gym membership costs the same for residents to just be a member here!

I live different months in MN & PA states & here, using the Y pool swim to ease joints/back issues…read more This is no doubt the best Y w/its clean, modern locker/shower facilities, kid's pool with slides. But, there's only one 4 lanes lap pool so I have no idea why they had to "rest/close" the pool from 1-4pm weekdays. In both MN & PA, lap pool is opened all day 5:15am-8pm weekdays. If lap pool was used for swim team or life guard training, they'd open the kid's pool for lap swim. In Philly, there is one pool with no kids' pool. So certain hours, 2-3 lanes of pool are reserved for kids lesson/ fam swim, leaving 2 lanes for lap swim. But the pool is in use fr 5:15 till closing at 8 weekdays or 6/ 4pm weekends, except for Friday 2.5 hrs of pool cleaning. They tried to maximize the pool's usage to benefit members. Why such a waste of resources here in Avon, IN? I saw that the staff were just hanging out, doing nothing near the pool while members were not allowed 1-4pm to use the pool nor the sauna. It would be the best time for some ppl to swim/sauna in these 3 wasted hours. I hope that the management of Hendricks Y will reconsider their pool hours and not waste such a wonderful resource for its community. I will upgrade this to a 5 star if this is changed for the better (or even 6; ).

The pavilions and their picnic tables are in dire need of a thorough pressure washing. You can however, fish in the lake. I saw someone doing it while I was there, but I am not sure how well stocked it is though. On a positive note, the recreation staff is very friendly and there is ample parking. This very historical pool is still gorgeous and the fact they want to tear it down is unsettling. I have just never heard of putting a lazy river in front of a real river, but that's just me. Every time I go here I see somebody I know and it is such a great neighborhood area. It definitely is the best pool in town. The bathrooms need work as well as the concrete area but there's plenty of handicap parking and there is a dog park there as well. There's a nice walk along the river and many many playground activities available. They even have a soccer or rugby area as well as a tennis court. This truly is a jam in the city with White River and all its glory.

It was then converted to an amusement park, the White City Amusement Park, in 1906. The park was opened in 1922 and still maintained some of the amusement park rides. The park has an outdoor pool that is in need of some intensive TLC. It is very raggedy. There are two picnic shelters, one of which is huge. They both have picnic tables under them and grills just outside of them. They have 2 sets of 3 tennis courts complete with benches and are awesome. They are well maintained and one of the park's better amenities. The baseball and multi-use field, not so much. The baseball field has an old backstop and the grounds need some maintenance and landscaping. The field had one goal that was not set up out there. The field was hard and had a lot of divots, aka ankle breakers. There is a nice dog park at the front of the park. It was packed with large dogs. There is a lot of obstacles and grass for the dogs and a shaded place for their owners to sit while the dogs run around. The park is located just off of the White River and has a public boat ramp to launch your watercraft. The ramp is very long and steep. There is also a nice wood viewing platform that overlooks the River. The park has a playground area is lined with wood chips and has 2 jungle gyms with slides and monkey bars. One of the jungle gyms is accesible. There is a set of traditional swings and a set of ADA/toddler swings. The equipment is old and the playground area is far from exciting. There are benches around the playground area to sit and watch the kiddos. There is an area called the Picnic Knoll that is located right outside of the playground area. It is where you will find a bunch of picnic tables placed in the forest. The final amenities I will discuss is the parks neglected walking/jogging/running/bicycling and fitness path. Many of the fitness path signs are damaged and/or unreadable. The trail is mostly a dirt path and dog walking is welcomed. The park has a decent sized parking lot, but a lot of it is being taking up by construction material and equipment. I believe they are currently building a new family center. That is a step in the right direction, because much of this park seems neglected. I was unsure if, outside of the dog park, if it was being maintained. This is a decent conventional nature park, that with a few upgrades and some TLC, could really be awesome. I know the are working to improve the park and cannot wait to see what Fun fact: The park's pool hosted the 1924 and 1952 Olympic swimming tryouts as the Broad Ripple Amusement Park
