It was an opportunity to reflect on my own experiences with them (and to ask myself why I'd never reviewed them). Longtime Artistic Director David Hochoy retired in 2022-23, a season which was also the organization's 50th. They are one of the Midwest's longest-performing professional dance companies. Now under the leadership of Joshua Blake Carter, Dance Kaleidoscope presents four unique mainstage performances in Indy each year. They're a very accessible group. They participate in the Access Pass Program. This allows people to experience dance with $5 tickets and even dance classes at a discounted rate. They are also known for partnering with a variety of non-profits from Damien Center to the Children's Museum to Ballet Hispanico to quite a few others. In 2019, they located inside the Factory Arts District. They offer 34 weekly classes to over 200 students. They also share their studio with other groups (including Indy Film Fest). As a wheelchair user, I've always been pretty in awe of dance. I absolutely adore Dance Kaleidoscope, and I adore what they contribute to this community. Factory Arts is really the ideal location for them. Schrott Center and the Toby at Newfields seem to be two of their favorite places to perform here in Indy. I absolutely love ZFit Club! I attended a Fitmotion class on Saturday April 2nd. The location is at…read morethe Methodist church which is very centralized to all of Zionsville. Fitmotion is a mixture of a dancing zuma like class and strength training. The dancing is so much fun that you don't even realize that you are sweating and working out. I'm definitely the type of person who has to be "tricked" into working out. If you're anything like me - you must check out this class. The strength training after the dancing/cardio portion is fantastic as well. I'd be lying if I said my glutes weren't still sore (it's monday, btw). Squats + weights = yes honey. I had a mixture of instructors and all of them had such a positive encouraging energy. None of that yell at you and scare you into working out attitude. They offer child care which all of the ladies were raving about. Imagine, your kids actually having fun while you're working out! Not sitting on the side of the room with their ipads? Makes me almost want to have kids! ;) They over a wide variety of other classes and provide the calendar on the website. The best part? It's totally affordable! A few years ago, my friend and I needed a new place to get our regular Zumba fix, she found a Groupon for Studio Z, we gave it a shot and the rest is history. I won't go into too much detail on all the classes and instructors as the scheduling and instructors can change. I would recommend checking their Facebook for daily updates on the schedule. Let me start by saying this, this place is definitely worth visiting. Everyone here is incredibly nice and wants you to have a blast and meet your fitness goals as well. Tons of different class times and various instructors. They ALL rock and bring their own unique style to their classes. I have never not had fun in a class. You will find that some classes can be a bit more high energy/impact than others, so I recommend trying a few instructors to find what works best for you and your style. They currently offer one price to take any of the classes they offer that day, that means you could try multiple classes for the price you would normally pay for one elsewhere! They also offer unlimited type of passes. Check their website for current pricing and times of classes. Should you try this place out, don't be intimidated if others seem to know the songs really well, they just might as this place has many regulars, come try it out and as long as you are moving, you are doing Zumba right! Also, if you see me there (I try to go a few times a week), feel free to say hi to me, I love meeting new Zumba lovers! They also offer some alternatives to regular Zumba including Turbo Kick, Circuit Challenge and Zumba in the Circuit (Zumba + Circuit, one of my favorites!). Special shout out to Mary, one of the owners of Studio Z for being one of the most motivating, inspiring, crazy fun people ever. She is so welcoming to everyone and her classes are awesome. She is also a personal trainer and those services are offered here at as well. She has inspired many people (including myself) to go to the training to teach Zumba ourselves. She is even currently offering an option to allow these instructors to try out teaching with a free class option on Friday nights, amazing! I could go on and on about my love for Studio Z but really you should just get your butt here and get dancing!

They really make an effort to get to know you here, and the studio has a wide array of ages that take classes. No gymtimidation! I personally take the Pound classes, which are offered 6 days a week. It is a drumming style workout with a great mix of music. You can either pay $8 for 1 class, or do a 10 class pass for $55. I think $5.50 a class is VERY reasonable for a specialized workout like this one. They also offer lots of other classes including spinning, TRX, Zumba and more. They also have memberships as well if you want to do multiple types of classes during the month.

They are offering classes for young kids up to high school in a variety of styles. I did on a month-long unlimited, pass at a silent auction, and happily won that prize. I wanted to maximize my win, so I ended up taking a lot of classes that DanceWorks offers. Here are my thoughts: Cardio Hip hop: great for any and every level dancer. Exercise focused. K-pop: be prepared to pick up choreography, and two sequential Wednesday classes equates to one whole K-pop song routine. SWERK: picture Zumba with Twerking. Exercise focused. Great for any and every level. Ballet for absolute beginners: a very simplified, slow, basic educational course. Required for taking beginner ballet. Beginner ballet: ballet for absolute beginners will not teach you everything you need to know for this class. I'm not sure there is any way to be ready for this class. Just know you are going to feel very left behind, and sort of like an idiot for a few classes until you can catch up. But who cares? Unfortunately, I got walking pneumonia after taking all those classes, so I wasn't able to try everything they offered. However, I'd say Cardio Hip Hop was my favorite!

The 305 class was great as it included cardio and a little bit of planking/abs. I have heard some of the other classes are not necessarily a great workout since you spend most of the time learning choreo, but this class was basically Zumba. The facilities felt a little outdated, but I think it's a great value if you are a regular member for the $125/month for unlimited classes.

We luckily had found Infinity which is right in Plainfield and close to our house. You'll find a great location and they have just redecorated the entire interior of the studio. There are several separate dance spaces for the different practices. The staff and manager seemed quite nice. They do offer both competitive dance and regular classes. If you are new to dance they can asses your child and let you know what would be a good starting point. Even after several years they still will want to watch your child to see where they stand. Thus far I have enjoyed the straightforward communication and expectations for the forthcoming year. My daughter is enjoying it and it must be thorough as she is a bit tired but she is doing 3 hours a day for 3 days a week. I look forward to seeing the new dances they plan and the competition season.

This is my place!!!…read more Sho'Time is super welcoming and incredibly energetic. The owner, Sho, is a natural teacher and incredibly fun. After growing up with intense dance instruction at other studios, Sho'Time is a breath of fresh air. There are hip hop, body sculpt, barre, and dance fusion classes- I honestly love all of them. I'm sore after each one! Sho always plays great, new music and is constantly teaching new moves and awesome choreography. The prices are great as well- college students only had to pay $60 for the whole summer this time around! You will love coming here and make some great friends as well. Highly recommend!
