My family has been with Infinite for more than 2 years now. I stopped in at a couple other BJJ schools in the area at first and I won't say anything bad about them. However, the details of instruction and the friendliness of everyone at Infinite, from the owner to beginners, is unmatched. Gustavo (owner/instructor) continues to compete and master his own craft while stressing the importance of technique over brute force to students. I appreciate this approach as an older practitioner, especially after training overseas at an MMA gym which had the opposite mentality. I trained at Infinite Jiu-Jitsu for a week while staying in the Sacramento area. The first thing that struck me about this place is how friendly everyone is. People starting introducing themselves to me the second I walked in the door. Even when I started stretching alone on the mats people walked up, shook my hand and asked me where I was from and how long I would be training here. The gym has a huge mat space and was always brightly lit from big windows which gives it a pleasant atmosphere. Most of my classes were taught by the head instructor Gustavo. He is an excellent teacher and leads a well thought out class. The whole week we worked on passing de la riva. He broke down several variations on passing and gave us plenty of time to drill. I appreciate his laid back and calm demeanor, he was always happy to explain in more detail if the class had questions. While training here I got to meet many great people and have many tough rolls. I would recommend that anyone living or traveling in the area should try a class at Infinite. read more

I have been training at Infinite Jiu Jitsu for two years and for me it has been a life changing experience. I walked into Professor Gustavo's academy based on a recommendation from a friend. I was working in the Sacramento area and was looking for the a place to train for a few days while I was in town. I came in to class early and got to watch the end of the kids class. The kids class was very well run and some of the kids were already so technical it was kinda scary. The adults class started with a nice warm up to get the blood flowing and a good mix of fundamental movements. Next came technique which we got a chance to work with our training partners with little to no resistance. After drilling technique, then it was time for sparring. I had the opportunity over two days to train and roll with various students and I was very happy to discover such a great training and learning environment. Everyone was very welcoming and there's a great family atmosphere in the gym. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend stopping through and checking out this academy. You will not meet a single egotistical person and everyone is willing to help each other grow. So, I spent the last three days visiting Sac and dropping in to train at Infinite. It's been amazing. Everyone is very welcoming and respectful. I like how they bow in and bow out. Prof. Gustavo is an extremely knowledgeable black belt and his teaching method is very approachable. There's a lot of color in the room. Classes are 1-1/2 hours with the last 1/2hr reserved for live rolls. And the live rolls were great too, good pace, no one trying to kill anyone. Why I love to train at Infinite Jiu Jitsu. 1. Great workout--burn fat, build muscle, and increase flexibility. I started BJJ about 4 months ago, I have lost 10 pounds (and counting) and can lift much more weight at the gym. BJJ is also so much fun (wayyyyyyy better than running in place on the treadmill). The warm ups are fun too--I mean, where else do I get to do backwards somersaults? 2. Best stress reliever ever! Who knew being arm barred and squeezed by a triangle could make you feel so good I leave every class COMPLETELY relaxed. It is amazing--better than a massage. 3. Awesome atmosphere! Everyone I have met at Infinite Jiu Jitsu has been super encouraging. I am a complete klutz by nature and am pretty sure I am slower learner than most. No one has ever made me feel embarrassed or I like I don't belong. All of the upper belts are terrific about giving their time teaching us white belts. 4. The professor Mr. Gustavo, is the real deal--he is a three-time world champion. He is very passionate about the sport and is an excellent teacher. 5. Self-Defense. I think ALL women should train in this sport. I feel much more confident that if I was attacked I would not freeze or curl up in a helpless ball. I highly doubt I could win a fight with a large male attacker at this time, but I do believe I could survive. 6. Improved Coping Skills and Ability to Handle Stress. While I have definitely improved my physical fitness over the past four months, I also believe that my mental fitness has improved as well. I am very perfectionistic by nature. BJJ has forced me out of my comfort zone. I have gotten very comfortable with being uncomfortable. I have learned that I can be absolutely terrible at something and if I continue to try and work at it, I can improve. It is refreshing to laugh at myself and learn from my mistakes. 7. My two boys are in the kids' class and they love it as well! I would have to write a whole dissertation to describe how great training at Infinite Jitsu has been for them as well. read more
