I have NEVER cared enough to leave a review this long. They're annoying as hell to read, but when…read moreit comes to my son, I will say something. I chose this dentist for dental AND orthodontic treatment; it's pediatrics-only. We scheduled treatment by phone. The front office didn't greet or acknowledge us. First red flag. I was told MULTIPLE times treatment would be split into 2 appointments--one side at a time. His father was told BOTH parents could go back. He told them MULTIPLE times he wasn't staying for the full treatment, only helping our son get settled because of his dental anxiety. When our son was called back, suddenly only one parent could go back, contradicting what his father was told. The owner said front staff sent him back because we caused an issue. My son's father NEVER raised his voice. My son was ALREADY settled on the table with laughing gas on when the owner threw a fucking fit, told them to take everything off my son and get us out. His father calmly said he'd leave when the owner kept getting angrier and asked for a business card. The owner later apologized but made it worse. He said he assumed my son's father wanted to fight/cause a scene, and that 2 parents in the room had caused him a panic/anxiety attack. Like wtf?? You're working on children, expect parents to be there. And don't compare me to another parent when I don't know that situation. The female doctor said we'd continue. I asked THREE times not to strap my son down because it terrified him. I told them he'd stay still. They said yes, then strapped him down anyway. The doctor started drilling. When my son said "ouch," they should've stopped to see if he felt pain or fear. They told him, "No, it doesn't hurt," while the assistant REPEATEDLY said, "Be a good boy and stop crying" in the most annoying fucking voice. Whatever a patient says they're feeling is what they're feeling. As medical professionals, we're required to listen, not tell them how they feel. That's what I learned in nursing school--maybe dentist school has different rules. Then TWO employees not assigned to my son walked in and started TALKING SHIT with the doctor about another patient: "He lies all the time! I can't stand them. He doesn't listen and acts like he knows everything," etc. Why the fuck discuss another patient in front of a patient? The doctor joined in instead of saying, "Save this for later." I've been a nurse a LONG time--we've all talked shit--but save it for when you're NOT IN FRONT OF A PATIENT. My son started coughing from crying, then gagging/dry heaving. I said, "He's about to throw up, turn his head or sit him up for a sec." They said, "He's not gagging, he's just coughing." He was visibly dry heaving and panicking, but they kept going. I stepped BACK out of the doctor's space and repeated myself. Those were my only words. I never made any advances at the doctor, raised my voice, or said anything rude/out of line. Then the female doctor blamed ME. She spoke ABOUT me to her assistant: "Call in the other doctor, I'm done. Clearly this mom thinks she knows everything and doesn't think I know what I'm doing. She made this stressful and now I have anxiety and can't finish." She finished the tooth and told me to find a different dentist that took my insurance when I asked about sedation. She said they didn't have sedation, then walked the fuck out. They injected my son in the LABIAL FRENULUM, one of the most sensitive areas, then decided she DIDN'T EVEN NEED TO WORK THERE. Why inject a child without first evaluating whether you needed to work there? Now my son's ENTIRE mouth--top, bottom, left, right, front and back--was numb for WHAT?! They only worked on 2 upper teeth on the right. OH, and they fucking knocked one of his front teeth loose with the shit they shoved in his mouth. His LEFT side was jacked up and swollen as fuck when they only worked on the right. You don't force a patient's mouth open wider with tools because they're crying, especially when they're already panicking. If someone needs a break, GIVE THEM A FUCKING BREAK. Don't force their mouth open wider with your tools, you fucking idiots. As a nurse, I'd be in deep shit if an adult patient told me to stop and I continued, and even deeper shit if an underage patient's parent told me to stop something with their child and I didn't. In SEVEN years, my son and I have never been treated like this with dental care, medical care, or school, NOTHING. They made me pay BEFORE treatment, refunded what they didn't do, but should've refunded the REMAINING $55 for the unprofessionalism. In 31 years I've never had a dentist do that instead of recommending treatments or sedation. I'm also aware it is not standard practice and highly discouraged to numb an entire mouth--top/bottom on both sides, plus the front--all at once, so I'll be looking into this further.
