First, Infinite Custom Patios and Infinite Construction are both owned by Charles Teer. After meeting with several contractors back in April 2019, we made the unfortunate decision to use Charles Teer and his team to build a custom patio for our home in Westbury. The agreement, Charles stated from the beginning, is that we would never be asked for more money than what was quoted since this was a fixed fee contract, however, multiple occasions we were asked to pay for extra items.
From day one of the project, the lack of communication and professionalism was immense. We received an email stating materials would be delivered on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. However, no materials were delivered that day. Thursday, June 6, 2019 a truckload of workers arrived at our house ready to work asking us where the materials were located. The workers left without doing any work because there were no materials to work with. That afternoon a load of lumber was delivered on our driveway; we were informed the workers would be back that same day to move the materials to the backyard. Once again, it did not happen and, therefore, we had to park our vehicle in the street, which got broken into that evening! We called Infinite Construction to inform them of the incident and they acted surprised the lumber was never moved to the backyard the day prior and ensured us that workers would arrive the same day to move the lumber, which they did, and then on the same phone call made sure to ask for payment. We never received an apology for the delays, inconveniences attributing to the vehicle break-in nor the lack of communication.
On June 15th our family headed on vacation for 1 week and we informed Charles Teer to ensure all necessary decisions and payments were completed before we were gone. We were already experiencing lack of responses from him via text and email. We NEVER saw him on our property up to this point. On June 21st when we returned home from vacation, we noticed we had water damage in our living area, master bedroom and kitchen due to his team not covering the house properly to protect from rain. The incident occurred on June 16th, the day after we left on vacation, and we were never notified. When we texted Charles to inform him of the water damage, which he knew of, his response was "ok, I'll take care of it". We had no clue what that meant. The next day he sent someone over with a dehumidifier. Days went by with no response to our texts/emails about the damage or repairs. When he finally did respond his texts were implying that he was out of money for our project already and he was going above and beyond to fix OUR issue for us. Yes, he implied on several occasions that the water damage to our house was being fixed as "freebies" to us. The requirement of us to be out of work for multiple days to be at home with the workers, the damage to our home, having strangers around our children, and just the inconveniences of moving furniture, etc. were never acknowledged from Charles Teer, instead it was addressed as him doing us a favor!
In August, 2 weeks went by with almost no communication and no activity on our patio. Multiple texts and emails were again ignored. We received a City of Houston permit deficiency notice on our door with 3 deficiencies listed 1) no form survey found 2) electrical 3) structural. We sent a picture of it to Charles and his response was "you're responsible for the form survey and it's $1800". We informed him we agreed to a fixed fee contract and were told no additional funds would be asked of us and therefore we were not paying the $1,800. We also said there were numerous issues to still be resolved with the patio that have been unanswered. The next day at 7am there were several workers fixing things on the patio. Again, no communication notifying us of planned work activities. Eventually we get a text saying "surveyor will be there tomorrow". That's how Charles Teer does business, no communication at all or he lets you know immediately prior. After the surveyor gave Charles the form survey, Charles texted saying "survey is complete now I need final payment". We sent another email with all the questions we still needed answered regarding the City of Houston permit issues and that final payment would not be made until all permits were cleared and the final walk thru was complete (per agreement). Charles' response "I SEE HOW Y'ALL ARE, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND".
Finally, October 2019 the city of Houston inspections passed. C. Teer wants his final payment without doing a final walk thru. Just know who you're dealing with if you plan to hire Teer; he will communicate A LOT in the beginning to get your business but beware, the lack of professionalism, threating messages, and lack of communication will follow after signing the agreement! read more
