    Great place

Visited for the first time and was not disappointed. Loved the various selections including lots of new and used vinyl. Prices were good and left after adding a few new albums to my collection. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. Will absolutely be back to add more to our growing collection.

We love coming here to buy Vinyls for my husbands collection he loves grabbing their blind bags which cost $5 for 5 used LPs they also have $15 blind bag that has a new LP and 5 used ones

Great selection and great prices. The staff is very helpful and answered many of my questions. It's great when you visit a shop like this and can strike up an interesting conversation. I learned a lot! They have a wide range of genres. Everything is easy to find. I will definitely come back and recommend everyone to visit.

    lots of vinyl

This is one of my favorite music stores to browse. They have lots of music on both cd and vinyl. Not just inventory, but lots of really good records to choose from. There are listening stations for cd's and a play area if you need to let your kids play while you browse. The prices for vinyl were running in the $20-40 range for most of the classic albums I was looking at. I also liked the friendly greeting when I arrived. Review #2866

Great selection! I got a record player for my birthday but I wish I would've asked for one sooner, love a good nostalgic item from childhood. Like any entertainment section in stores (CDs, movies, etc) it's sorted alphabetically and by genre, but for the questionable artists, I think it would've been easier if it was all sorted just by alphabet. There's a nice small lounge area, clearance/sale corner, music playing throughout the store, and friendly and helpful staff. I also love that they're a small business and promote Indy/Broad Ripple!

Limit of 10 or maybe 15 people at a time. But they take social distancing seriously. Good stuff!

This place is CD & Vinyl heaven! They got everything you could possibly be looking for. Plus they are down to earth ladies that had that Outkast - Southernplayalisticadillaczik album ready for your boi when they just got it in. They were very friendly and it shows from when you come in. You can do some real serious digging in this place and find some gems. Gonna make this my routine spot to checkout as I build my collection. I just feel like this is the place you wanna do that at. In a cool part of town too and they also have gloves for you ready at the door during this pandemic. Let the good times continue to spin Indy CD & Vinyl! #NeverTheLastTime

Indy CD & Vinyl has been a staple location for my girls and I as I try to educate and introduce them to music, new and old, as well as the local scene. The employees are very involved in the community and local bands/talent and can provide a wealth of knowledge if you just go in and ask. Annie Skinner is on the Board of Girls Rock Indy, so we've become friends with my girls' involvement over the years. Outside of the store she is also half of A Squared Industries with her husband Andy, hosting concerts and Dance Parties (Real Talk at White Rabbit and Rad Summer), DJing across the city (and for Naptown Roller Girls). The store hosts in store shows to all ages groups introducing acts that may be local or on their way to play a show. During Record Store Day, in April of each year, the store has a complete lineup of talent and promotions of limited editions that draws people in the door all day long. Listening centers are conveniently located throughout the store so you can preview albums/cds and discover new artists. This holiday season, remember to shop Small Business Saturday and pick up a gift certificate for your favorite music lover!

    Lil bit of everything.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon with my 16 year old to show her what a *real* record store is like. I miss the days of "One Music" in my good old hometown of Muncie and figured she had heard enough of my stories about midnight Pearl Jam releases and Doc Martens that it was worth the trip to Indy CD and Vinyl. It did not disappoint. She was amazed at the selection and even commented that she was able to find artists from her obscure pandora play lists here. Score. I could get lost here for hours just flipping through the records and CDs. They also have a listening station with about 10 different genres to explore. Nice. We will totally return -- if even for the sake of nostalgia. Great place!

Updating my review of Luna Music and bumping it up from four stars to five. This is because a) Luna…read moredeserves all five stars; and b) it's been nine (!!) years since my last review. In my last review, I think I complained about being a tired mom with macaroni and cheese stains on my pants. Well, nine years later, I'm still a mom but fortunately less tired, the stains on my pants are from red wine and vegan tzatziki, and the kids I made macaroni and cheese for have grown up and are very interested in music. And they ask me to take them to Luna Music. I'm always happy to oblige. My oldest kid love Luna Music because he can find albums for the bands that he listens to. Bands and artists that are not on my radar at all (Blood Orange? Anyone, anyone? Bueller?), but he loves them, and it makes him happy to find them here in vinyl. Luna has a lot of new music on vinyl. This is the place to visit in Indianapolis if you're looking for any kind of new music. They are on top of it. In fact, I subscribe to their weekly newsletter just to keep abreast of the new music that drops every week. Luna Music keeps me young and able to relate to my children, who have astounding musical taste for their age. Luna skews toward records, but they also have a smaller selection of used CDs, as well as a collection of used cassette tapes that are smaller still. You can also find zines, local artwork, greeting cards, record players and other fun things. The people who work here are super friendly and not at all snobby. There are no Jack-Black-from-High-Fidelity people here!

When I started digging he stopped me and said they weren't for sale and have been around for 10'years. They weren't his personal collection, he just had no interest in pricing or selling them. Apparently, many people knew, because Karma has been around since 1970, and it's the oldest record store in Indianapolis. OK! I'm obviously late to the game. Usually, I visit record stores just to browse, but this time, I visited to find a specific album. But when I asked the kind people behind the counter to look up the album for me, I found out the album that I had in mind was actually out of print! So I could order it online, but it would cost like five hundred dollars or some obscene amount. The helpful people at Karma offered to order other albums by the same artist. But I didn't want that, and instead just browsed the selection of records that Karma. There are a lot of records here. Surely, if you're not dead set on a specific out-of-print record like me, you will find something here. They also have CDs. And the cool people at Karma are willing to order whatever you want (assuming it's not out of print), and it will show up at the shop a few days later. Man, you didn't ask, but this place smells like incense, I tell you what. Which is appropriate, I guess, because they sell incense here. I just mention in case you're sensitive to incense.

It also buys these things, too, if you have any physical-media treasures lying around that you wanna make a buck from. The record shop is tidy and well curated. If I had a record player, I would have picked up a couple of gems. Alas, I do not! Why do I keep visiting record stores if I don't have a record player? Some would say I'm a glutton for punishment. But I like to think that I'm slowly manifesting a record player, and also, I just like to be around physical media, sometimes. It's nice to hold a thing that produces music in your hands, or look at the liner notes of a CD. Take Care Records also sells DVDs, like I mentioned. These, too, are well curated. I saw many obscure indie films, and a few concert DVDs, and films that I haven't watched in a while but would totally add to my collection. Although the joint isn't huge, there are a lot of gems everywhere you look, so this is definitely a place to check out if you're into collecting music, movies or other media. One thing to note about Take Care is that it is only open Thursday-Sunday! It's located in the same shopping center as Some Guys, and across the street from Taylor's Bakery. Lots of parking!
