I walked in expecting the premium, "intoxicating salon and spa experience" they claim to provide. Instead, the service was completely substandard, I left looking appalling, and the astronomical prices felt like a total rip-off. First, the communication between customer and service provider is sub-par... basically non-existent. I brought reference photos of how I wanted my hair to look and explained that I wanted a subtle, blended look. Instead, the stylist, who I could barely understand, completely ignored my requests and left me with choppy layers and harsh, brassy streaks that look cheap and unprofessional. When I politely pointed out that the color was nowhere near what we discussed, I was met with defensive attitude from her, and something muttered in Spanish that I didn't understand. When I asked to talk to the owner, I watched her roll her eyes and shake her head back and forth. Then she slowly sauntered over to me and said, "your hair looks beautiful like this! Perhaps a bit different that your request, but you can "rock it." No apology; no offer to fix it; no offer of discount since it was so terrible. This owner is obviously the one who leads her flock and I have no clue how this woman is still in business. This place is a PRIME example of attitude and aptitude being a top-down mentality. Attitude reflects leadership, after all. To make matters worse, the pricing is outrageous for the crappy quality. They charge luxury prices but provide a stressful, hostile environment and zero attention to detail. To boot, they have the nerve to up the prices during Derby week, which is called price gauging and is ILLEGAL!!! I mean, seriously? You want to be seen as luxurious and posh and high-class, yet your staff members BARELY speak English, it's near-impossible to get them to understand you, and your craftsmanship is akin to that of a beauty school dropout? I got a massage too and wish I would've read reviews before I came here. It was thee worst massage I've ever had and I'm pretty sure my 3rd-grader could've applied stronger pressure. The massage was overpriced, as I was in town only for the Derby, and I felt like I got taken on a bait and switch maneuver. Save your time, your money, your hair, your nails, your sanity, etc. This place is as far from luxurious as you can get. It's significantly overpriced (even when it's NOT Derby week); it's obvious they have internal problems because the female owner was rude, crass and frankly, pretty clueless. Avoid this place at all costs.

The scheduling of the appointment was a little back and forth, but being a smaller establishment, I could understand when I got their voicemail. I will say though, they did always call me back. I scheduled my appointment for 5:30 in the afternoon - enough time for me to come in from work. Fortunately, there wasn't any traffic, so I was there 45 minutes early. I easily found their building, but found that they were away until my appointment time. That was fine...I went to Qdoba and ate dinner. Got back at about 5:20 and it was open. The space is very calming. The purple wall color and soft lighting put me at ease. I had to fill out some paperwork and then was escorted to a room. The massage therapist and I chatted for a bit about my goals of the session and she left to let me get undressed. One thing I do like, that this place didn't do, is a foot bath. My feet were in shoes all day and really could have used the soak. But eh, what can you do. We started the session and the massage was great. There were a few things that were different - like she had me push down on my leg against her hand (similar to physical therapy), and she only did it to one leg - but overall, it was relaxing and I felt good afterwards. It was only when I left that I realized that I didn't get any aromatherapy. Not a big deal, but if you order it, make sure you ask about it up front.
