I had been thinking for the last few weeks that I needed a massage, and this time I wanted to try somewhere new. Kentucky Masseur came to my attention and I decided to look into it. A professional website with easy online booking made sure that I was able to schedule my appointment with ease. A few clicks later and I had a slot booked for a massage with Kentucky Masseur Dixon Martin -- crick in the neck be darned! Kentucky Masseur is located on lower Brownsboro Rd, in a 2-story brick building with ample parking in the back. Dixon had sent me a new patient form via email, which I had filled out prior to arriving. I highly recommend doing this if you go -- this ensures that you can spend your full 60 minutes enjoying the massage and not losing precious minutes to some paperwork. He met me at the door and was pleasant, personable and professional. He is also extremely knowledgeable about anatomy, wellness, and how massage factors into a holistic regimen of healthy living. The massage room was painted in a calming hue, with a comfortable table, and filled with the aromas of some pleasant essential oils. While some relaxing music played, I enjoyed every one of my 60 minutes getting stress and tension kneaded away. The next time that you need a little kneading, give Kentucky Masseur a try, and you just might find a new favorite place, too!

First off, the building and suite 107 are incredible easy to find and accessible. After filling out new client paperwork, Angie brought me back to the massage room and discussed if there was anything specific I was there to address and clarified the entire process for me as a noob. The entire time I was on her table I was comfortable, I felt her good intention through her touch and although I didn't have anything specific I wanted addressed, Angie focused on a tight hip that I have ignored for years. I didn't mention it because I thought it was just something I would have to live with but when I stood up, my hip felt exponentially better! Who knew!? The entire experience was relaxing and I felt like I was in good hands. Angie even showed me a few stretches to keep my hip feeling nice which tells me she's interested in wholly helping her clients and not just building a clientele although she just added a new guest to her books! Angie Miller has been a Massage Therapist for five years now but her expertise, knowledge and professionalism would suggest she was born into it!

She was incredibly kind and helpful, especially knowing it was my first time. I was the only person at the spa so I didn't experience anything more than the sound of music and running water. I wasn't sure what to expect. Here's what I learned that may be helpful to you for the head spa experience: - The Thai bed offered the comfortable, wider bed. It was heated and I was covered with blankets. - You will wear a towel on your top. Straps would be in the way. Come wearing a tube top, something that can be pulled down, or slip off your bra. - If you don't have warm socks, they offer fuzzy socks. - Lockers are provided for security. The key is attached to a bracelet and you can slip it on your wrist. - A scalp analysis is completed before and after. - The treatment started with a massage and it continues on and off throughout. - The pressure isn't painful but it can be intense, including on your scalp. My arm muscles were very tight so I was mindful to breathe through the soreness. - The head massagers are amazing. I've already looked up where to buy my own! -Your hair will be washed multiple times. Aveda products are used. Overall, a wonderful experience. It is definitely a splurge for me; however, this will be a treatment I'll come back for to keep my scalp and hair healthier, plus have an opportunity to relax.

Wonderful experience with Mo! My lower back feels fossilized sometimes because it's soooo tight,…read morebut Mo was so thorough and put in a lot of work to help alleviate the pain and stiffness, which has plagued me for about 20 years. I am fit and I am a longtime yoga practitioner. I understand my role in managing these issues, but no amount of exercise can offset 8 hours sitting at a computer a day. A good massage is sometimes the only thing that can help when my body really starts locking up. Ive tried a number of massage therapists who are trained through westernized programs, and I even had a standing appointment with a wonderful reiki master who was a massage instructor for many years. Unfortunately, none of these therapists (who were legitimately excellent) were able to provide much relief for issues like persistent psoas tightness and snapping hip syndrome, etc. Mo is the first massage therapist who really made a difference in my pain and my low back and hip function, after just one session. I don't know if I truly do need deep tissue work or if it just *feels* as if I need deep tissue massage to me because of my usual experiences, but I always ask for deep work and rarely feel as though it's even close to being deep enough. A lot of massage therapists just don't seem to have more than textbook classroom-based understandings of the body, and they tend to try to use sessions to lecture me about the most basic things or assert their expertise, even while they're failing to recognize where my muscles are tight and how to actually address the tightness. That's why I decided to try an eastern-based practitioner this time. This was a fairly vigorous and intense session and I got the exact pressure I wanted/needed, without having to even say anything. It felt as though I finally got some release along my spine. She also did exceptional work on my shoulders and mid-back as well and gave a brief scalp massage. It made my whole week! Lalai is my new standing massage therapy provider and I highly recommend them, and Mo :)

As soon as you walk into his new serene space, you immediately feel a sense of peace and tranquility - helping melt away the stresses of the many recent months/days. I have so much I want to say but one word that wraps the complete experience up is LUXURIOUS. I've had massages and spa treatments at the best salons in town.  But between the relaxing scalp massage and heated sinus pillow to paraffin wax treatment to warm salt and essential oil compresses and the full foot reflexology massage, I have never felt more pampered than I did by Michael. The lush zero gravity chair, that you remain in for the entire session, comfortably gifted me respite from my chronic pain from RA, lower back disc and neck issues.  I am also dealing with a torn meniscus and torn mcl, along with that same knee being bone on bone.  I was amazed that I did not feel any discomfort at all during the lower leg salt scrub and massage or from the foot massage and reflexology.  Michael used gentle yet firm movements allowing my body to ease into the heated chair that enveloped my body, allowing me to just completely let go. Along with my feet, legs, hands and head feeling rejuvenated and refreshed from layers of healing care, my soul was also deeply revived-something we all need after these long 9 pandemic months. After my treatment I slept like a baby and awoke with so much clarity and energy, that I labored all day long without fatigue or pain!! I haven't felt that vital in a year! Needless to say I'm scheduling my next Total Relaxation Treatment ASAP!  My advice is your should too! I guarantee you and your loved ones will have zero regrets.  Lord knows we all need a little extra healing, pampering, and restoration after the year we've had.
