My husband, a stroke survivor walking with a wheeled walker, had no problem getting through to the entryway on the long paved path from the external gate on Miles Street. Inside, the exhibits are so interesting and the facility is bright and clean. We love Indio, so seeing the history of the city's populace enriched our understanding about life in early days. They have a beautiful shop which is now added to my list if cool places to obtain unique gift items. Parking is right across Miles on the corner, directly facing the big museum gate. A ramp connects the parking lot to the roadway. While the property is not a massive one, Coachella Valley Museum is a rich cultural walk through the olden days and you are still close to the downtown area and hidden foodie hangouts like Gabino's Creperie and the Friday Night Food Trucks or the sweet Farmers' Market.

I wanted to like this place -- I gave it more than a fair shot. For a long stretch I was here…read moreconstantly: several times a month, hundreds of dollars a visit, all on my Fantasy Rewards card. So when I say they lost a genuinely loyal customer, I've got the play history to prove it. And they lost me over twenty dollars. The short version: I had a $20 cash-out ticket that went a little past its expiration. Took it to the cashier. Rather than pull up the rewards card that was literally in the machine when I printed it -- the thing that proves the ticket was mine -- they voided it, took the paper, and spent the whole interaction insisting they weren't "keeping" my money, just "voiding" it. Either way, I walked out with nothing and no explanation, and they walked off with my $20 and, as it turns out, all my future business. As for the property: it feels old and worn to me. The machines and the floor give off a tired, run-down vibe, and if you're not into sitting at slots there's basically nothing here -- no sports bar, no variety, not much atmosphere. I've never had a meal here I'd recommend. The one exception, credit where it's due, is the Rock Yard; the outdoor shows are legitimately fun and the only part of this place I'll miss. Here's the real tell, though: Agua Caliente, which isn't even a place I'm crazy about, treats its guests noticeably better than this. And Augustine is on another level entirely -- the service they give locals and regulars is genuinely excellent, the exact opposite of what I got here. When the casino you don't even love is better, and the locals' spot is in a completely different class, that says everything about where Fantasy Springs put a loyal regular on its priority list. The point is a casino looked at a regular who spent real money here consistently and decided a $20 voucher was the hill to die on. They won the twenty. They lost the customer. I'm taking my money to Augustine, where they actually act like they want repeat guests.

When we left after 12 noon, Santa himself was there. The first thing we did was visited all the sponsor tables where we picked up swag. College of the Desert had some nice items - stress ball, lip balm, highlighters, etc. Then it was tamale time. Which vendor? Sis and I lined up at the longest line one. We waited about 1/2 hour but spoke to a couple ahead of us who told us which vendors they enjoyed. The longest line was Casa De Silvia. I heard snatches of people's conversations about the chili relleno tamale. When I got up to the order counter I ordered it plus chicken in green sauce and pork in red. The chili relleno tamale lived up to its reputation. Very good. Filled with cheese and chopped green poblano stuffed. Yummy. Later I got a pineapple tamale from The Tamale Fiesta booth. Said came with pineapple pieces. I didn't see any in mine. There's an eating area with canopies that offered much needed shade. We ate our tamales there. Hubby & I made an observation - there seemed to be less tamale vendors than in the past. But the ones that participated offered delicious tamales. We did a complete circle of the festival. Ample porta potties. After a couple of hours we exited.

We also enjoyed seeing her father perform. I must say I look for the shows where it's mainly Jeff Hobson performing because he is so funny, so talented, and he has such incredible timing with quick wit that it literally tickles my brain. Free to visit and you can enjoy the cactus garden and wander around the gardens. Museum and gift shop as well as cafe is on sites. But this visit, we took the tour of the Annenberg property. Tour is about 90 min and about 60.00 per person. They do recommend you come a little early to view and enjoy the main building where the cactus garden was but we were a little behind and made it right before the tour started. The tour host 7 person per guided tours. We start off at check in and then met with our guide, Hema. At the beginning you start off on the golf carts where your guide gives you an introduction to the family and the property. The gate into the main residence is around the corner from the public property. It's amazing to see how someone turned a barren desert landscape into an oasis. The brief cart ride to main door was quite nice. A massive golf property hidden in the desert. Once you approached the main property, it's welcomed by a massive water feature. A knock on the double doors lead you into the lobby of the house. Just walking into the property, it's a true MCM oasis. To find out the property only has just the primary bedroom was insane as it was massive. Theres no picture allowed inside but outside was fine. Hema, very detailed in everything she explained was very sweet and detail oriented. Walking through the different rooms and seeing all the amazing things collected by both Walter and Leonore Annenberg was quite interesting. The office which house all of Walter's work, pictures of family, friends and political figures. The different room that's in the main house, their amazing artwork which some are the original pieces. Then you have the way they lived, very elegantly. Each room had their own unique style. The designer and architect sure had their hands full with detail designed of everything on site. The furniture, one of a kind design with amazing embroidery. Walter had an amazing collection of artwork and sculptures. Seeing them throughout the house and the way it was displayed in different room of the house was spectacular. Even the kitchen was nice. Still fully functional as it's still used for summits. The outside alone is one in a million. The massive property with many lakes that is fully stocked for fishing. The golf course which is a golfers heaven. And then you have the pool with a million dollar view of the mountains as the backdrop. Not only the main house, there's the guest house which is utilized for guest. And they're know by different color rooms. And by that, it's fully decorated in the color palette. That building also all looks out to the pool and mountain. Leonore, with her favorite color yellow also had a rose garden designed in the property. The tour lets you inside the lives of the Annenberg and the amazing lives they've lived. Housing major political figures, celebrities and the amazing parties had. The massive art collection and endless photos of everyone, it was a sight to see. This is a tour worth checking out and learning about the Annenberg. Plus, Hema our tour guide was excellent.
