All in all, its a beautifully put together historical account of the native peoples in the area, their struggle, their acheivements. Everyone in there is simply polite. The museum is put together very elegantly. Its a diamond in the rough in that area. The presentations, information, and displays were so artfully presented. I would say, if you are in the area, then pay this gem a visit.

I'm typically understanding of staff being tired/frustrated because guests can be entitled and disrespectful ,but we were met with rude comments from the start. Cool Vintage Collection from the 1930's…read more We came by the museum to check out the extensive collection of one man, Mr Jim Ruddy. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything that was familiar to me since the vintage treasure trove were from the depression era. I may look old but I wasn't born in the depression era. LoL! The Great Depression started in October 29, 1929. When we entered the museum a sweet elderly lady greeted us at the door. She was seated at a table behind the cast iron railing that separated the visitors from the collection. She cheerfully took our money as we handed it to her ($1/person admission fee) and asked us if we'd like to hear a little history about the museum and the man behind the collection. She proceeded to tell us the story and we were all ears. Immediately, as we passed through the entrance we were suddenly transported back in time. The items were from 1930's and early 1940's. She said everything in the museum is authentic and original recreated to display like that in a general store of that period. It was an amazing display that transported us back in time. We took our time going around the store as we tried to place ourselves back in that era: the fixtures, the signs, the products: groceries, cigarettes, hardware, clothing, hats, medicines, yarn and sewing items, beauty products, "Hallmark" cards, soaps, and toys. I mean, the Monopoly board game. had wooden pieces back in 1935. Many of the items were unused and 95% of them were filled with their original contents (medicines on the shelves). The museum is located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs on Palm Canyon Drive. In 1983, Mr. Ruddy created "Ruddy's 1930s General Store Museum" in Palm Springs, CA. He passed away in April 2017. What a cool experience walking through this air museum and seeing planes from different eras,…read moreincluding a stealth bomber, with the kids. It's both fun and educational, and there is a lot to take in. My one tip is to give yourself plenty of time to explore. We showed up about an hour before closing and easily could have spent a few more hours walking around, taking photos, and learning the history. We had a great time and it definitely gives us a reason to come back.

I believe it's $25 a person, but it's so worth it. To start, everyone working here is extremely kind and passionate about what they do. We were greeted with big smiles and directions telling us where we'd want to start off. The museum itself is amazing. There is so much history here and it's amazing to think about what these aircraft's were apart of prior to their retirement. I think you could easily spend a few hours here! We will definitely be back, if you're in the area be sure to check this place out!

Fantastic Pre-Season Soccer in Palm Desert…read more - - - - - - - - February, 2026 Visit We visited Palm Desert to see our St. Louis CITY Soccer Club (SC) play Austin in pre-season MLS soccer at the Coachella Valley Invitational Tournament, and we had a GREAT TIME!! The Coachella Valley Invitational Tournament is pre-season soccer for men (MLS) and women (NWSL), played at the Empire Polo Club in February each year. We have visited Palm Desert for many years, and have visited before and after the tournament the past couple years, but have missed attending; thankfully schedules aligned this year. After watching previous games on YouTube, this year we got to be there in person! The tournament's site offers some challenges on finding General Admission tickets; after some time we found that the Los Angeles Galaxy (LAG) were managing the tickets; a quick call with Miguel, who was very helpful, and we soon had our tickets in the app ready to be there for the soccer. Thanks, Miguel!! Parking for soccer was easy to find based on the online map and following the signs. For food, under the semi-permanent tent they have food trucks and an open bar. Here is little shade on the fields; some palm trees in the corners offer a place to cool off; otherwise if the skies are clear, the Palm Desert sun will provide copious doses of Vitamin D to lift your spirits. DJ Alf Alpha provided dance tubes all day and there were various soccer skills for fans to participate in. Even when the weather is not as nice as it was for us, this is still a great facility, with low humidity. Fun fact... the Salton Sea is the second lowest point in the US, after Badwater Basin / Death Valley; if I calculated correctly, the Empire Polo Club elevation is 5-20 feet. Thank you to everyone who makes the Coachella Valley Invitational possible! As Major League Soccer transitions its season to match the rest of the world, and to spread across two years, but no soccer in cold Jan/Fen nor hot July/Aug, we hope you'll continue the tournament as a mid-season break tourney. ----- ----- -----

The Polo Club is a big and varied place. They do actually have polo fields there. AND, they also…read morehave other areas. Today I was there for the soccer invitationals. I've been for others things. The dog show, for instance. It's a nice outdoor space. There are areas that are very rich in foliage and give plenty of shade. The staff has always been nice and helpful, from the parking people to the security and cashiers, I've never have anyone be ambivalent. Food is, well, epic expensive. If you plan to spend $30 on food and $10 on drinks, you can get by. Beer was not outrageous though, which was a surprise. I definitely recommend going. Parking has always been easy. Some events it's free parking, others it costs, so plan ahead.

Majority of the vendors that are regulars didn't have anything set up last night. I was hoping to pick up some houseplants but the vendor wasn't there. Guess with the heat, it's not good for the plants to be out. Rightfully with that. But it did seem like the food area did have more vendors compared to what I've seen before. Usually walking along the strip, it tends to be packed with vendors and shoppers but the past few weeks, not so many. Summer tends to be quiet as people do leave town. The snowbirds going back to Canada. Even restaurants close for the summer season. Same with the vendors here, some comes every other week while there's still the regulars that comes every week. Small local vendors trying to get their product out there. They have the locals vendors that I frequent for my baked goods and sweets. It's a nice little shopping and food area that's great for a Thursday night. Restaurant and shops do open a little later for the event. It was quite hot last night so a lot of vendors weren't out. But once it starts to cool down again, it'll get busier.

This was a pretty nice little festival. There were several mobile restaurants offering up their…read moreItalian fare, live entertainment (Paul Elia was great!), and other vendors selling clothing and other merchandise. For people with kids, there was a nice-sized area with several activities going on. They get docked a star because the price simply to walk in the door is a little high; I think there should be a food sample or two connected to the price of entry, but that was not the case. Also, the ground was quite muddy in some areas, so I hope they'll do something about that for next year's festival.

This event is getting better every year & is back in its original location in Rancho Mirage. One of the highlights of the food were of course Mario's Original New York Cannoli's only a $1 each. Delicious. There was also Pizza. Who says there is no good genuine New York Pizza in SOCAL? The owners of Villagio are from Brooklyn & Long Island. Yes you can get a slice of New York in Palm Springs. Another highlight was the original Lemon Italian Ice. Still another highlight were the meatball sliders from a family 100 year old recipe. They had various singers & performers from Cafe Italia. The cooking classes were packed I couldn't even get a seat & I had to stand. Lots of things to eat & buy like Giovanni the Italian singing bear. The meatball relay tag team race had everyone laughing & cheering. You had to carry a meatball on a spoon in your mouth without dropping it and walking as fast as possible to place it in the silver bowl with the statue of David picture watching every move. The men's team won by one little meatball. They also had some cool antique cars. They had all kinds of games & activities & a park was adjacent to the event. I met some really nice people & talked to the president of the Desert Arc. Mark your calendars for next year.
