Let me put it this way.... This is def my kind of store. I was so busy browsing that i forgot to take pictures The SL location was def small, however they had so many unique home decor products from different parts of the world. They also have different sizes of slabs and base you can customize for your coffee or dining table. Everything in this store is top quality! I can't wait to visit their location in LJ, which, the lady mentioned, has a much bigger showroom. The staff onsite was helpful and answered all our questions. I originally found Indigenous on Cedros in 2020 when I ordered a table for a home that ultimately didn't close escrow. John and Brittany were really great to work with and they made a bad situation a million times better. Fast forward a year and we bought another house. I called John and fortunately they still had my table in the Vista warehouse. This table base came from Java Indonesia where 50 years ago or so loggers would just leave the hollow trees on the ground because they could not use them. Now people to go and find these old pieces so John can make them into incredible pieces of furniture. We just moved into our home and hosted our first big dinner party. John and Brittany at Indigenous were amazing, and I absolutely LOVE the custom desk, lateral file, and table they made me for my office. My desk is stunning. It is a piece of art. I picked out my beautiful piece of wood in the store and described exactly what I wanted. It took us a few months to get everything right. We sent back and forth pics, and I visited the workshop as well. I had very specific desires, and they met them all. This is not a bargain piece of furniture. Fantastic shop with beautiful furniture. They really know how to pull off the raw wood look with resin accents. We got hooked after browsing around on a break from biking through Solana. We fell in love with a coffee table piece that pairs burl wood with blue resin for a oceany-vibe. After we remodeled our house, we went right back to Indigenous for a 7 foot kitchen table. The pieces are solid, sturdy and just darn pretty to look at. Brittany and team are also super friendly, great people. Highly recommend all around. read more

I needed a custom size table to put behind my sofa and it needed to blend flawlessly with the design of my home. I contracted with Indigenous to build the table and to stain it so it would go with the decor of my home. Brittany was amazing to work with to get the project started than her husband John....and his team....were equally as amazing....with the making of my table. They were incredibly easy to work with in selecting the right slab, designing the table and figuring out the cuts of the slab. They were patient with me in attaining the "right" stain color. Indigenous by La Rue My husband and I had been trying to figure out what kind of coffee table would work in front of our couch. It is a wrap-around sectional (not that hard to find a table for). However three of the seats recline, so they would bump into any table that we would put in front of it. None of the standard furniture shops we looked in had anything that would work. They all seemed to have variations of the same or similar "standard" coffee tables. We decided to walk along Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach "The Design District" and hope for the best. We walked into Indigenous by La Rue and fell in love. A picture says a thousand words, so I'll add some pictures, but here's what you need to know... 1. Along with the store on Cedros, they have a workshop in San Marcos. 2. Brittany is amazing...warm, friendly, and seriously an expert at this. You just tell her what you need and she and her husband John will create it for you and it will be stunning. You can see the other reviews on Yelp. I looked before writing this and I have to confirm what everyone said. This is really a special place and these are special, talented people to know! 3. We had our coffee table delivered. Brittany recommended someone that they often use and it worked out great. It was in our house three days later. 4. If you have some type of furniture in your head that you want, tell Brittany. She will work with you and make it happen. We LOVE our coffee table. It feels much more like a piece of art that functions as a coffee table and fills our need and so much more. We are so happy we walked into Indigenous by La Rue. I was looking for a resin-wood table and saw their store. That was just the beginning of the journey for a custom table. John helped pick out the olive wood after a few discussions, laid out the table on the lumber yard floor, created modifications, saw the process of the table layout in the resin form, witnessed the pouring...I could go on and on how detailed and relaxed John and Brittany took us through to the creation. We went into their shop in Solana Beach while visiting our son and daughter in law in San Diego. So many unique and beautiful pieces! We were just amazed at the craftsmanship, quality and beauty of the work. We fell in love with one of the coffee tables and had to have it for our new home in North Carolina. Ana was so helpful, friendly and knowledgable about the pieces in the shop and she was so enthusiastic about her work. She was able to answer all of our questions. We purchased the table and they were happy to arrange to have the coffee table shipped to us in VA. Working with Brittany was a pleasure! She was very responsive and arranged everything perfectly. The table arrived at our current home in VA in a very sturdy custom wooden encasing.
