I have been a monthly client of Lisa Z at Indie Acupuncture for several years now. Most of my visits have been centered on getting the 79 year old me "in balance" as part of an overall plan to maintain my health. I use both Western and Eastern medicine treatments. Today was focused on pain under and around my scapula. Lisa used standard acupuncture pins for the pain outside the scapula. But for the first time she used healing sounds to go UNDER my scapula as well. By the end of the "1 hour" treatment my pain level dropped from an 8 to closer to a 2. This after almost 4 weeks of pain. It was like magic! My time invested with Lisa has paid off over the long run, but today it was totally focused on the "now." Lisa is wonderful and very caring. I am definitely needlephobic but I was in a lot of pain and decided I had to give it a try. She really eased my fears and I found that unlike injections these needles are very difficult to feel. Didn't feel any of them except when they did reach a sensitive area and release some tension. Unlike an injection it's more of a sensation like a quick muscle spasm. I've been there three times now and I'm going to go back regularly until my back is completely healed. I was looking for an acupuncturist who had experience with a lot of sports injuries I found Lisa online and went in for a pulled hamstring from a running injury. I had already tried physical therapy, stretching and massage with only temporary relief. My hamstring just wasn't getting better. It kept flaring up with exercise. Lisa was present with me when I went over my list of injuries and ailments. She did an assessment and then explained to me what she was going to do. Lisa did cupping on my back and leg followed by acupuncture. She explained that we were doing a combination of regular acupuncture points and some dry needling for the tight muscles and pulled hamstring. I felt a noticeable change after the first treatment. I saw her twice a week for a few weeks and was able to start running again. I was skeptical that acupuncture would help, but now I am hooked! Since then I have seen Lisa for allergies, insomnia and tennis elbow. She seems to be able to help me with anything I throw at her. I absolutely love Lisa and her work. I've gone in with excruciating neck pain and headache and left pain free. I've had my period off balance and had it restored. I've been angry and left calm. I've had digestive issues and even a rash and she has helped them ease and calm down. I've been seeing Lisa weekly now for over a month and the amount of difference that I have seen is huge. She helps heal in many different modalities - acupuncture, cupping, aromatherapy and herbs - or any variation thereof (and probably more). As a person Lisa is kind, caring, funny and very enjoyable to be around. There are some cheaper per session options (with group settings) for acupuncture in Petaluma but from my experience, they don't work as deeply. Therefore you are getting more bang for your buck with Lisa since you can go in and feel so much better in one session. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease and the doctor recommended accupuncture. I had done accupuncture in the past and had developed a fear of it because past practitioners felt too aggressive and the needles hurt. When I went to see Lisa, I explained my hesitations and sensitivities and she heard me and responded. Now, I've overcome my fear of accupuncture and fully trust her. She is an excellent listener and her touch (and needles) are gentle and thoughtful. She also did cupping, which I had never done before, and it was so great! I was referred to Lisa about 3 plus years ago, by my sports medicine doctor for Plantar Faciitis and Lisa not only helped heal the very painful foot condition within three months, she has helped me with so much more. Driving over from Napa, I've visited Lisa twice for acupuncture and cupping to help relieve stress, lower back pain from sitting eight hours at a desk, and a running over-use injury. In addition to the regular acupuncture, I'm also receiving motor point therapy which is basically acupuncture dry needling to release tight muscles and get them working again properly. My leg and back pain have disappeared; and my stress level has been reduced tremendously! I have chronic myofascial pain and Lisa was the only practitioner I could find who does motor point therapy. Unfortunately because I am moving I only saw her for a few sessions and for my specific needs I do not think it was enough to show a clear cut difference. That being said, I would still 100% recommend Lisa. She is calm and friendly and gave me advice on all sorts of things from herbs to ways to make air travel easier for my body. She always asked me where I wanted to work on each session and allowed me to stay as long as I needed. I wish I had more time with Lisa. Definitely give motor point therapy a try if you are suffering from chronically tight muscles or after effects of an injury and Lisa is for sure the one to go to. Let me start by saying that I am a skeptic through and through. I am very untrusting of the whole eastern medicine thing, and frankly... I had no intention of ever trying acupuncture. But I am also a devoted athlete who loves long distance running. I competed in cross country throughout high school and recently got into Marathons. During my training regiments, I have found that my injuries don't heal fast enough and progress beyond the level that standard practices can fix.
