Josh provided me with the most beneficial therapy I have ever had for my lower back pain and left shoulder. The way he listened then customized very specific exercises for each of my symptoms followed by brief "testing" to evaluate their effectiveness was so motivational for me. I felt a greater sense of progress along with a decrease in pain rather quickly. As a former RN I have witnessed the struggles of many patients with chronic pain and am especially grateful for the opportunity to help myself and avoid invasive procedures or medications. Especially important to me was his assistance in tailoring the instructions for exercises in print to help me remember the correct positioning at home and increasing their effectiveness. His attention to my feedback resulted in my unprecedented level of compliance and the relief of multiple symptoms. An additional benefit I had not anticipated was that I am now able to walk in shoes without using the custom made orthotics which I had used for many years saving me much inconvenience and money. I was referred to Josh Madonick last month by my MD after a onset of right leg pain. Got so bad I could not complete a walk into a Costco store. Later had trouble even standing up for any length of time. On planning a cross-country trip my family even wanted to order me a wheelchair at connection airports! Anyway I saw the family doctor who order up some meds, a supplement, and some physical therapy. The meds dulled the pain somewhat, the supplement didn't do anything that I could see, but after about four weeks at PT the good doctor Josh had me almost completely back to my normal self. After each session, he review my condition, added or subtracted various exercises and gave me my homework. I did follow the home stuff pretty closely. And yes, in the middle of the PT we took the cross-country flights and I did not need a wheelchair -- even after a family member misread a flight board and I had to walk past an extra 39 gates to reach a connecting flight. I'm late in writing this, but Josh did an absolutely fabulous job in helping me this past spring/summer when I had a bad case of sciatica. I'd been miserable for a few months and in constant severe pain. Josh put together a series of exercises for me which changed depending on how they worked and he really worked to find the ones that would help. I'd had PT in the past and was given a set of exercises that never varied; not much thought was put into it. At my first visit when I bent over my fingers could barely reach my knees. Josh told me that in 8 weeks I'd be able to touch my toes. I thought he was crazy! Every visit I was more flexible and much to my surprise, Josh was right. I had the greatest experience working with Josh. He is so patient and caring. Josh is very knowledgeable. I had several pain in my left hip and was barely able to walk. And going from a sitting to standing position, rendered unbearable pain. I was much in need of a hip replacement. I was not ready for surgery and through Josh's help, I have been able to postpone surgery for coming up on a year now. Josh showed me various exercises to alleviate the pain. Through his knowledge, he was able to pinpoint the affected area and provide exercises to strengthen, manipulate and reduce pain in my pelvis, hip and lower back regions. I saw Josh for acute sciatica pain. I was very skeptical about the effectiveness of physical therapy to rehab my problem and told him so. He listened to my negativity and challenge to him without being defensive. He was very kind and understanding. I was referred to Josh for treatment of low back pain by my primary physician. Josh was able to diagnose the source of my pain, explain the case clearly to me with the help of skeletal models, and started me an a course of treatment. The exercises were explained clearly, I practiced each with him until I did them correctly and was sent home with clear directions on how to do them at home. I received various exercises over the 6 weeks that I saw him and improved quickly. I now know how to keep my back and hips in the proper position to avoid straining it again. Josh really helped me recover from a complicated ankle surgery. He is straightforward, knowledgeable, effective as well as kind. I appreciated that he always explained what he is doing and why keeping me on track with my progress. I was referred by my primary physician for PT for severe sciatica. I was doubtful that it was going to do any good and it would be painful. Josh is one of the best physical therapists I have worked with. His diligence to get his patients to their goal helped me to get better within a few appointments with him, and from there I just improved each time I saw him.
