Exit 5 I-69 - what a mess!

Exit 5 I-69

(2 reviews)

Central Indiana Interstates, highways, and surface streets are rife with intersections, exits, and…read moregeneral traffic management that make no sense. As one of many bad consequences I believe that Indiana drivers have evolved into some the worse in the country. Exit five on I-69 is one the most poorly designed striped and signed interchanges that I have ever seen. Indiana highway engineers consistently fail to grasp and implement the concept of utilizing as much of the road capacity for as much distance as possible. They don't seem to know how to implement more than one-lane exit ramps. INDOT does not effectively manage merge points. This stretch of road has been under construction for about four of the last six years and they can't get it right. They keep adding lanes and then they fail to use the extra capacity. The southbound traffic from both IN-37 and I-69 is funneled into a short bottleneck where the traffic is forced to criss-cross in a pathological manner with outlets to 116th Street and I-69 south. Where the road requires the most capacity, there's a single lane and two lanes where there's less traffic. Northbound is just as bad. The traffic and highway engineers INDOT force all of the 116th Street AND IN-37 traffic into a single lane and it allows through IN-69 full use of ALL FOUR lanes. They can easily reserve two lanes for the exit and direct the though traffic to the two left lanes. The recent lane addition on the southbound ramp actually has made this exit more treacherous than before. The lane addition for northbound I-69 has not relieved any of the congestion because they have failed to sign and stripe it correctly. The exiting traffic backs up to 96th street and it encourages dangerous behaviors due to the ineptitude of the design. This whole thing is a disaster and it is indicative of INDOT's ineptitude in all things. They ought to spend some time in Kentucky where the road striping and exits make for smooth traffic flows. Traffic on IN-37 southbound and I-69 northbound always dangerously backs up into intersections one and two miles respectively in the upstream directions because they have failed to effectively use the lane capacity.

They have really improved this exit with the new construction. Traffic flows so much better…read more If only the majority of drivers knew how to drive and would put their phones down for five minutes it might be even better!

He determined it was an issue with water softener issue, is ordering parts and will be back tomorrow to repair. EXCELLENT service by Service Plus today! SO Timely after issue discovered Sunday night around 1030 pm. And they call you and text you with ETA of when you'll hear from them or when they will be at your house. We have their Service Plus Club Membership which is very affordable and ensures regular maintenance throughout the year and prompt urgent service when there's an unexpected issue. INVALUABLE for a homeowner!

From start to finish a terrible experience. They replaced my sewer line last August and it's been…read moretrouble ever since. During the job they hit the gas line, broke our street lamp, and left a very tall and crooked clean out. Fast forward few months and we discover after much investigating that they had "forgotten" to tie in our kitchen sink to the main sewer line. We only got to the bottom of this after leaving a 1 star review on Google, until that they were not responsive AT ALL and even tried to turn it into a problem we needed to pay for. They eventually fixed their mistake while making a few more in the process. I will include a picture of how they attempted to leave the internal plumbing in our finished basement. It looked hideous. Their mistake resulted in more of our yard being dug up in the middle of winter and of course by then the insurance claim was already complete so that is damage I'll have to pay to repair out of pocket. Oh, after they took care of this situation they also requested I go back and change my 1 star review... which I did, and now regret doing. They include a warranty with the new sewer line that is to include and stoppages or soft clogs that happen with in a year of install. I called them out for a clog in the French drain outside my garage door and they made up several excuses as to why they couldn't jet the pipe clear. Instead they suggested we dig up our entire driveway to install a new drainage system... this was not something I would consider doing. A different company was at my neighbors house around the time of issue and they took a look and immediately said they could fix it. I had them come out to take care of it since the flooding of this drain was entering my garage and spreading to my finished basement. It wasn't something I had time to argue with Service Plus about, I just needed it fixed! They jetted it out easily and without issue, but also charged me $750. I basically paid $750 to another company because Service Plus flat out refused to do it because "the pipes" were too old. I guess a warranty shouldn't be extended to a home owner with an older house since they can just refuse to follow through based on that fact. I attempted to get Service Plus to reimburse me the $750 but of course they refused to do that. I would not recommend this company for a single thing. The company who fixed it were familiar with Service Plus and said the company has gone downhill massively since they sold to a corporation, though they still claim to be a family biz. A couple of their own employees who had came out to evaluate problems throughout this had the same thing to say about their own company. I'd go elsewhere if you're in need of any type of service and don't want ripped off by a company that has no follow through and doesn't care about their customers.

If there's one thing I know nothing about, it's plumbing. I can unclog a drain and fix a toilet,…read morebut that's it. When I smelled gas in my house this summer, I knew something was wrong. The gas company came, determined I had a leak, and shut off my service. There I was, with neither hot water nor stove, betwixt cold showers and cold cuts. A first-world tragedy. I'd been paying for Utility Shield coverage for years in the off-chance something went awry. After making my claim, I knew I was at the mercy of whomever they sent. Fortunately, it was Gordon Plumbing. The initial plumber who responded spent three hours in my basement. Unfortunately, he was unable to fix this issue, as various leaks surfaced. He determined all my pipes needed replacing due to the age of the home. It was a job best suited for two men, which meant it would be two more days without gas. After what seemed an eternity, a two-man team from Gordon arrived exactly on time. The plumbers were incredibly knowledgable, professional, and frankly hilarious. They replaced my gas lines in less than three hours. They also determined whoever ran my gas lines (likely many, many years before I was born), created a complicated maze of piping. This increased the chances of a leak, but Gordon fixed that with my new system. I would not hesitate to use Gordon Plumbing in another unfortunate circumstance.

In the process of selling my home, it was discovered that a pipe that was installed before we…read morebought our house, ran underneath my neighbors driveway and would require excavation to correct. While disappointed that we would be responsible for repairing the neighbors property we agreed to cover the repair as this situation is not my neighbors fault. During the inspection, the pipe was approximated as to where it was located, but could not be verified at the time, due to my neighbors car causing interference with the equipment used to identify the exact spot of the line. Days later, the crew arrived to begin work, and this is where we ran into problems. While I was quoted one size (which was roughly 5x10 feet ) for the section (they believed) was the location of the pipe, they guessed incorrectly. They dug down approximately 7 feet and couldn't find the pipe, and it turns out they dug in the wrong spot. The hole went from 4x8 and ended up being closer to 11x11. I let the crew finish the job, and when contacted about settling the balance, I expressed some disappointment that the crew didn't verify the pipe location before digging as the scope of the repairs has now increased because of their mistake. As the saying goes, "measure twice, cut once", at this point, the call was handed off to "Mike (Terry?)", who basically got on the phone and badgered me for saying I had agreed to pay for the work when the job was done (which I had), and that his crew didn't have a camera to verify the actual line placement on the day of the work ( so, apparently that's my fault). The disrespectful way in which he came on the phone to pressure me into paying the bill and assumed no responsibility was extremely disappointing. I work in customer service for a living, and I have dealt with frustrated people over the years, and I can't recall having been so infuriated with the way I was treated. I will do everything I can to warn others about the response I received for being dissatisfied with the level of work that was done. The crew that did the work on the pipe was nice, but made mistakes, the staff that was ultimately responsible for trying to find a compromise was a complete failure. To provide perspective I have attached a picture of the first hole they dug (wrong spot, right size), and the final hole with the repaired pipe.
