From our first phone call, Jocelyn really listened to us and understood our vision for our wedding day. She helped us plan an itinerary for the day that was authentic and effortless. On our wedding day, Jocelyn was the only person present, and we wouldn't have it any other way. She was our witness, our hype-woman, and captured every moment of the day along the way. She did the vital job of documenting our special day, but she was also a joy to be with. She made us feel completely at ease with her and her camera. The photos speak for themselves. She fully encompassed our vision of moody, candid, authentic, dramatic shots. We are so proud to show off these pictures, and every person we show is blown away by them. We met with Jocelyn Voo over Zoom before moving forward with working with her for our special day as our photographer and our witness. Jocelyn was absolutely outstanding for more reasons than one. Firstly, we felt that she really "GOT" us, from start to finish. She listened to our vision (dark, moody, candid, casual, gritty) and as wild as some of our ideas were, she totally leaned in and delivered exactly what we were looking for! Secondly, when you're eloping just the two of you, having a third person present is intimidating; what if it's awkward? What if the vibes are weird? But Jocelyn was an absolute joy to spend time with! I'd go so far as to say that her presence made the day even more special. She asked us about our love story, she joked around with us, and seemed genuinely interested in who we were as people. This also impacted the photos, as you can see how comfortable we are and how much fun we're having. Third, Jocelyn is an expert at her craft, although not pretentiously so. Her website offers so much guidance on how the elopement process works. Her emails with us gave us contacts for who to reach out to for certain steps (We took pictures in the lobby of the Beekman and had to have permission granted; something we certainly wouldn't have known!) Not only did we consider Jocelyn our photographer, but our guide in the process of eloping. She also is an expert in that her photo-taking does not appear obvious! I was worried about having professional pictures taken of me in public, but onlookers barely noticed as Jocelyn very naturally pulled her camera out and snapped pictures. We made a very last-minute decision to still honor our original date and we decided to go ahead with a zoom online wedding! I found Kelly's page about offering face time photoshoots while searching for Zoom wedding ideas. I messaged her two days before we were planning to have the ceremony and she responded right away. We set up a video chat so we could go over what she could offer through a face time photo session coverage of our wedding. She was able to be on face time throughout the entire wedding and was able to capture pictures of our ceremony and then we had a photoshoot afterward to get some nice couple shots, all while she was on facetime. It was easy to do with the camera on the tripod during the ceremony and gave great directions on how to hold the camera to my mother who was helping out during the photo session after the ceremony. No one could have predicted that we would be having weddings online or would have a need for facetime photoshoot and I think that it's awesome that Kelly was able to find a creative way to provide photography services within the limitations and guidelines of social distancing during this pandemic. It is amazing what can be accomplished with technology these days! The photos turned out better than we could have expected and will provide us with a lasting memory of this unique time in our lives. The photos I saw had this retro style, had wonderful contrast and I found there was always warmth in their subjects. There is actual depth to their portraits and these ladies are able to capture the nuances of every emotion that occurs on your special day. Take a look at their IG/Yelp review photos and you'll see that they look like Renaissance portraits set in the streets of Brooklyn. When my husband and I met up with Jessica, she made us both feel at ease, as we've never had our photos taken professionally together before. The tips she gave us made us feel more comfortable and made the photographs turn out phenomenal! I love each and everyone of our photos from our engagement/wedding, but my favorites are definitely the candid ones. If you're looking to stay on a budget for your wedding, take my advice and do not skimp on the photographer.
