You'll find a general store, carpentry and pattern making shop, a blacksmith shop, bakery, boarding houses, a blast furnace, a church....and more. Inside these buildings are a volunteer staff demonstrating the skills of the trades. What made my experience amazing is the ability to converse with the staff, dressed in appropriate time period clothes, as they explained the historic craft demonstrations and history of the village. The village is non-profit and is able to stay opened by donations and volunteers. Other various events such as weddings and fairs help keep the village opened. My visit was during the 4th Annual BBQ and Brew. On site we're numerous food truck serving up BBQ. For those who aren't into BBQ, there were food trucks serving up sweet treats and sausage & peppers. Alcoholic beverages (beer) were behind a gated area where everyone is carded before admittence. Once inside, tickets at $6 a piece are purchased for redemtion of a drink of whatever you want. In addition to the BBQ and Brews, various vendors were on site selling their unique crafts and a live band was providing the tunes. It was a fun time experiencing and learning about the village. The BBQ and brews were an extra bonus. A big shout out to Yelp CM Katarina for the Yelp give away.

The gorgeous grounds are maintained by Rutgers University, the chapel itself part of a long history. Besides weddings, events like baptisms and concerts can be held in its space. This might have changed, but I recall air conditioning wasn't strong - or might not even have been available. This place is a chapel, not a cathedral, so the parking lot is appropriately-sized (read: not huge). If you're organizing for a special occasion and expect a small crowd, consider the Kirkpatrick - and do visit the venue yourself!

As a Rutgers alumni, it goes without saying that this chapel holds a special place in my heart. I've now had the honor to see two sets of friends get married in this majestic building. The room is filled with intricacies and detail. The windows are stained glass and the lighting structures look like medieval crowns. There are paintings of gentleman hanging on the scarlet painted walls. I'm not sure who the people are in the pictures, but they look important. This is a great place for Rutgers alumnae getting married in central jersey to hold the ceremony. I hear that you need to book way in advance. Not surprisingly, a gem like this books up quickly.

The bridal suite is gorgeous with a bar and a balcony. And the ballroom is absolutely stunning. There is also a gorgeous garden with a babbling brook, koi pond, and scenic bridge. The premise is beautiful and they now have a beautiful chapel for indoor wedding which can hold about 270+ people. The acoustics in the chapel is also pretty good. The food is pretty good, above average wedding food. Plenty of food during the cocktail hour and the prawns for the main course were huge. Lots and lots of desserts. The bride and groom brought their own vase and candles for the tables and the staff helped to clean them and packed them in boxes. My wife helped planned quite a few weddings, I don't think I've seen staff that helpful. They have lightings on the tree and the windows on the inside which makes the evening look extra special.

The officiant, Donna Marie, was really nice and accommodating. The place is this tiny room, in what seems like a maze of a building, but it was so intimate and cozy. The place was clean and the officiant complied with all the Covid regulations so we didn't have to worry about that. We did the "sign and smile" package and it costs $75. Quick, easy, and simple. We were in and out in maybe 15 minutes. The officiant also mails out the signed document which saves us time and hassle. I would recommend this business to anyone who are looking for an officiant for their marriage ceremony. Thank you for your service!

I was searching for a wedding chapel right here in NYC that would allow for multiple witnesses, provide photographs, and remained reasonable in cost. Donna Marie is super sweet, very efficient, and she definitely does a wonderful ceremony. She is literally a one woman show taking pics, setting up, officiating and maintaining a sense of humor. If I could do it again I wouldn't change a thing.
