Review of Mirelle When my husband and I first began looking for a wedding officiant, we had a few simple conditions: -Experienced with non-denominational ceremonies -Friendly -Willing to work with us to craft a personalized ceremony -Flexible for time/place -Reasonable price You'd think it would be pretty easy find this in a place like New York, right? Nope. Also, since this was just a small ceremony that we planned on our own (less than 10 people), I had no idea where to start. I was lucky enough to blindly stumble upon Mirelle on Google. She not only fulfilled, but surpassed all of these requirements and we are so, so grateful to have had her. First of all, she is incredibly easy to talk to. We first asked her a few questions on the phone, and then Skype. See, the thing that I was MOST terrified of was an old, stuffy, religious officiant who was completely out-of-touch and would not be able to make our ceremony personalized to our story. Mirelle, in contrast, is like a fun girlfriend who happens to have an incredible way with words. She went out of her way to ask us a detailed history of how we met, when we got together, the engagement, etc. I have to give credit to wedding officiants. I feel like if I were hearing cheesy romantic stories over and over again, I'd get sick of it. But Mirelle's planned program was so heartfelt that we saved excerpts of it for our wedding scrapbook. Like this one: "Life is unpredictable.... but wherever life leads, they will be on the journey together--loving, laughing...and eating lots of tapas!" Amazing. Secondly, Mirelle was organized. She not only helped us to put together a plan with less than a month's notice, but she went above and beyond to suggest potential spots in Central Park that would be suitable for the ceremony. We also come from a patchwork-quilt of backgrounds, and poor Mirelle did a great job of integrating all of the ethnic wedding customs we dumped on her shoulders. Note that most of this was done through email and Skype, so for all you people with hectic schedules - it CAN be done quite easily. Lastly, Mirelle was sincere. As we all know, the wedding ceremony is so vital... it is, quite literally, the beginning of your life together. I feel like everyone gets really excited about dresses and cakes and flowers, but don't forget that the ceremony is REALLY what the wedding is about. Okay don't laugh (dorky history major here), but to me, a good wedding officiant is like an old Gaelic or Nordic bard, like the writer of Beowulf... you need the material for a story, but you also need someone to put it together in a beautiful way. Not a wedding officiant who ignores the couple's requests, is intimidating or judgmental, or makes exaggerated, sappy speeches - but someone who can tell their story and also help provide perspective and insight on what is to come. We wanted something short, sweet, and simple, and I honestly can't think of anything that would have surpassed the ceremony Mirelle helped us to plan. Anyhow, as you can see, we found Mirelle absolutely lovely and the perfect choice. Please know that this is a REAL review, and I've already given Mirelle permission to use us as references for any potential couples. Fingers crossed I won't be looking for a wedding officiant again in the future :) But I can recommend her to any pairs in New York looking for their own bard to describe their own epic saga together :) read more

This review is for our wonderful officiant, Amanda Mason. We knew she's our person from the very first email communication - warm, professional, friendly, and super prompt! We had a pretty short time to plan our elopement ceremony as we were going through the "90-day fiance" visa process. Luckily we were able to schedule an initial zoom meet from India, and once we figured out which package we were going for - the "marriage license signing" - we went through a few emails to finalize the wedding venue. Amanda was super helpful with her recommendations and location photos to help us decide what's right for our intimate ceremony (6 guests). We got married in Central Park and we couldn't be happier. It was all perfect! Days before the event we met in-person and went through the details and order of events. She made the effort to learn our story, and the right pronunciation of our long Indian names, and this was truly appreciated. At our request, she weaved a traditional Hindu "sindoor ceremony" into the script - this is where the groom applies vermillion powder on the forehead of the bride. The rest of the ceremony was simple, short and sweet - we read our own vows after Amanda's beautiful introduction, followed by the exchange of wedding rings and the official pronouncement and signing. By the end of the event, it seemed like a friend got us married. Cannot recommend her more. I know weddings can be stressful, and going through these sites can seem like an endless maze, but she truly is the best! We feel lucky and blessed, and our guests in attendance and even friends who witnessed virtually, all praised her. To start, I had no idea how difficult and complicated it is to get married in NJ lol. My fiance (now husband) and I decided very last minute that we wanted to register our marriage and have a very small intimate ceremony and eventually plan a bigger celebration with friends and family. This was decided a few days before our targeted day for the ceremony. As someone who did not do any research till the last minute, I immediately called the city hall in our home town as well as a few nearby towns in NJ and even the New York City hall. I always thought it would be a pretty simple process BUT IT WAS NOT. A lot of the places in NJ didn't have any officiants readily available and the one in New York was a headache to deal with. We were beyond stressed by this fact and also because of our last minute decision to do have the ceremony that same week.Just as I was about to give up, I decided to explore the possibility of looking else where and reached out to a few officiants. Deciding to travel from the UK to New York to get married, we had originally planned to get married at the City Hall Clerks office but then wanted something a bit more personal and decided to get married in central park. Looking at various sites and reviews we chose Suanne to marry us. Suanne asked us to set up Skype prior to us travelling which gave us a chance to speak to her face to face and ask any questions we may have. Any e mails we sent were responded to quickly and efficiently. The service was perfect and we were able to choose poems, and really anything we felt made our wedding that extra bit special . We chose for part of our service a truce bell, the idea being that if we were to argue at home we ring the bell and makes us feel about our wedding day and it sits with pride of place now on my fire place hoping we don't have to ring it but knowing if we did that it will take us back to that day. Suanne also advised of hairdressers, florist, photographers etc. and everyone I used was from her list and they were faultless. I even decided to go with a violinist something I hadn't considered prior. I had travelled to New York with just my partner taking no family and friends and on the morning admit to a brief thought have we done the right thing but once we arrived at Gapstow bridge and met Suanne and our service commenced, I couldn't wish for a more perfect day. The next day sat in the clerks office getting my extension to make our wedding legal in the UK we met another couple from the UK that had done the same as us and used an officiant but they had not had a very good service so there are bad ones out there. We didn't think we needed to hire an officiant for our Star Wars themed wedding. Our Rabbi, who was also one of my closest friends, was all set to do the ceremony. Sadly, he passed away several months before we were to be married. Carly liked the idea of visiting New York and was thrilled with the idea of getting married during our stay. We both had the idea of having a small intimate service in central park rather than a big church service, so booked a trip for ourselves and Carly's patents. We are from the UK and wanted to get married in Central Park in NYC so obviously we were a little anxious about organising the event from a distance and without meeting the registrant in person. Kim was really flexible and supportive we had a couple of Skype calls so that we could get the "feel" of whether there was a chemistry between us and Kim an also to see if we felt her style was compatible with what we were hoping the day would be. It was just going to be us, Kim and a photographer so getting this right was essential as with such an intimate group there was nowhere to hide a disjoint. Kim sent us loads of information, suggestions and guidance so that we could build a ceremony that represented us, the day we wanted and the aspirations we had for the future. There was a lot of detail built up with Kim not on just how the event would run but also us as a couple and individuals so that we could make sure the ceremony was tailored to us. Mirelle As a "mature" couple about to get married, we were looking for a simple but meaningful ceremony. My husband and I are both only children and all of our parents are deceased so we were planning a very private ceremony in my back yard with my daughter and her family, a photographer and a Justice of the Peace. We had the pleasure of working with James for our intimate rooftop elopement. James was very communicative the entire time leading up to the wedding date. When we first booked him, we hopped on a call just to talk a little bit about expectations and our personal love story. James is experienced and knowledgeable about the flow of weddings. One of our concerns about Cop Cot was that there would have been a wedding right before the time slot we booked. James assured us that he can communicate with the photographer of the party before and give them a gentle nudge if time cut close, which really helped ease my mind. We had a beautiful ceremony. I had found Kim via her website after my husband and I had met with another wedding officiant but we didn't feel an immediate connection with that person. My husband and I reached out to Kim via e-mail and she was quick to respond. We set up a time to meet via Skype as our schedules didn't permit an initial face to face. It didn't take us long to know that we wanted Kim to be our wedding officiant. She assisted us in the writing of our ceremony by providing sample scripts that served as a guide for us and helped us to incorporate elements of our culture and religious beliefs. Kim was at the venue at the arranged time and she led us through a final review of the ceremony beforehand. Amanda was amazing! She officiated our wedding in mid-June, was so lovely to work with and really made the day special. We didn't want anything too "traditional" or over the top, and she worked with us to tell our story in our own way. We were nervous about writing our own vows and she put together so many beautiful ideas based on a call with us just telling her about how we met. She was also incredibly flexible, understanding and patient even though we were somewhat disorganized on our end (not being on top of finalizing plans and sometimes being late to calls!). This is the review for one of their officiants, Ms. Mirelle Eid. She is a beautiful and warm Officiant. I was proud of having her as our officiant. Since we are a busy couple, it was nice that we can communicate with her by e-mail and Skype by the date of our wedding. She sent us ceremony ideas which were helpful to design our wedding ceremony. I picked "Tree Planting Ceremony" as our unity ceremony instead of "Unity Candle" and "Unity Sand," I just told her the idea briefly, but she explained the meaning of planting tree with very beautiful words at the ceremony. Thanks to her wonderful explanation, our guests were impressed by the ceremony and many of them mentioned about "Tree Planting Ceremony" part. Entirely, the words Mirelle picked for the ceremony was very beautiful. Since I am not native to English, it was hard to repeat what she said at the ceremony. However, she slowed down for me. It was very kind of her. After the ceremony, she sent the signed marriage license promptly. So we received the Marriage certificate in a week. We were so happy with Suanne Bonan as our wedding officiant! Early on in the planning process, we had a FaceTime call with her and we felt like we clicked with her right away. She walked us through each part of the ceremony and went over all the options we had. She then sent us a document with examples and templates for each part of the ceremony to choose from. Neither of us had much of an idea of how we wanted the ceremony to go, so having this document as a guide was extremely helpful! She also gave us a questionnaire that we each filled out, that she used to make the ceremony more personal. We were sent a draft of the ceremony a few weeks ahead of time so that we could read and make any necessary changes. She had added in some humor as well which we both liked. On the day of the wedding, we found out only a few hours before the wedding that the bride's father unfortunately wasn't going to be able to make it to the ceremony. She was able to quickly adapt the ceremony to accommodate, and she helped her feel calm about it. Suanne was wonderful to work with and we would absolutely recommend her! read more
