Tonight I was craving Indian food. I haven't ordered Indian since moving to my new neighbourhood, Dublin 2, and so I tried out Indian Taste as it was one of the nearby places that came up when I searched on JustEat.ie
My delivery was expected at around 10.50pm (I had ordered at 10.10), and so when 11.20 came around and my phone rang, I expected the guy to be outside the door with apologies at the ready. Instead, he said he was just leaving the restaurant (seriously?!), and asked me to re-confirm the address. I told him the address, and said that if he had trouble, he could just call me from the Milano's restaurant on the corner of the street and I'd meet him there.
About 20 minutes later, the restaurant called me, saying the guy couldn't find the address. I told them (again) that he could just meet me at the Milano's by the Grand Canal Theatre and that it should be easy to find. The person on the other end of the phone wasn't listening to me and kept asking me for the address, even though I was no longer interested in having it delivered to my door.
Another 15 or 20 minutes went by, and the delivery guy called me again. He was in the general area but hadn't been able to find the Milano's. I gave him directions from the theatre, which is pretty ridiculous because it's about 100 metres from the theatre entrance and you can see the sign lit up. It's not hard, it's right there on the waterfront.
12.10am rolled around, and I called the restaurant to cancel. It had been two hours since I ordered and they had not been able to follow simple instructions to find what's pretty much a landmark in the area. I got no apology, and in fact when I called and explained that the guy still had not turned up, they said "shall I continue with the delivery or shall I just cancel?", in a tone that made me think this kind of thing happens all the time.
By this time, it was too late to order food from anywhere else, and even though I was really hungry I didn't want to have to start cooking something myself. So I went to bed hungry, angry and extremely disappointed at the non-existent service I received from Indian Taste.
If they had apologised, and offered to waive the fee, I would have considered using them again. But two hours and no attempt to repair the bona fides with the customer means that these people are not worthy of my custom ever again.
I didn't want to give them even one star, but I wanted to clearly indicate how disappointed I was. read more
