This store has been an important resource for the Indian community over the past several years, but…read moreunfortunately the quality has declined over time. Issues such as moldy vegetables in the produce section have become increasingly common. My most recent experience was especially disappointing. I purchased 5 lbs of chicken from the meat department. The woman working there went to the back, brought out the chicken, and placed it in a brown paper bag. When I got home and began preparing it, I immediately noticed a strong foul odor. The chicken was clearly spoiled--the color had changed, and it was so deteriorated that the bones were separating from the skin. I returned to the store to address the issue, but instead of acknowledging the problem, the employee in the meat department insisted that the chicken was fresh. Food safety should never be taken lightly. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves quality control, especially in the meat and produce departments. Not returning customer

It has everything you need for an Indian grocery store . There is a large Punjabi community in Manteca, Tracy and Lathrop. I took many photos for the yelp user to get an idea of what they carry . Service is friendly and helpful. Not too much rush when I went on a daytime on a weekday. Parking was easy. Traffic in downtown Manteca can get annoying especially when a long train goes the fairly close to this grocery and you get stuck in the flashing lights .5/5 for location , great food court with clean tables and facilities in back and carrying all the essentials needed.

I decided to order 20 of them since I was heading to a meeting after my dentist appointment (which was next door to this place). Everyone at the meetings said this is the best they've had in a while. It is a tiny bit too spicy for me but nothing a little bit of the tamarind chutney couldn't tame. That, too, was very good. The texture was great, it was really really filling and very flavorful. Nothing compares to samosas in India but this is very close. One thing though, if they could make mini ones, like half the size (in India I had some smaller ones and one place in Fremont has them), that would be great. We end up halving the bigger ones for those who eat small portions.

After discreetly asking the cashier to wash his hands, he was so lazy in doing so and instead he just used sanitizer which is not the proper way. This cashier unfortunately ruined the good reputation of this location as I will take my business somewhere when I get the proper customer treatment.

Their Mantu smelled and tasted stale and yogurt tasted extremely sour. Both their white rice and Uzbeki rice were super oily and had a horrible old oil smell and taste to it, basically they reuse old cooked oil for the rice. It was absolutely disgusting and after a couple bites our stomach felt horrible. Chicken kabob was extremely flavorless and dry, couldn't eat anymore after one bite. Chicken tikka masala was horrible as well what's up with the weird nasty oil after taste? Such a waste of money and time, but also I am truly disappointed in the afghan business owners here. You'll do anything to make more money, even if it's serving low quality food and making people sick, so your pockets can get bigger. What a shame, health department needs to close them down.

Unfortunately, after getting home, it was very evident that two-day-old bread had been mixed in with the fresh loaves. Anyone familiar with baked goods can easily tell the difference in texture and quality. Frankly, I would much rather pay a higher price--even $4 or $5 per loaf--for guaranteed freshness than pay $3.50 for a compromised product. Suggestion for the business: Consider moving the bread display to the customer area so guests can select their own loaves. This would eliminate transparency issues and ensure customers get exactly what they expect. I hope management addresses this quality control issue.
