Was looking for lunch in the area and saw a Fatburger sign at a pizza place. Remembering my SoCal roots that seemed like a good option. However, the restaurant is being renovated and they were not yet serving Fatburgers and so I left - disappointed and hungry. As I was about to get in my car, I spied this restaurant next door. I had long seen it but never stopped. It beckoned me and I went in. The space was dived into a rather large dining room and a to go ordering space. There was one other patron in the restaurant and I learned it was his first time too. His food smelled so good as it was brought to him sizzling on a platter. I ordered the Chicken Saag and added Thali style, which added bread, salad, and soup to the entree. Good is prepared to order which was lovely. My waiter was attentive and offered water multiple times before I got my meal. He did not speak much English as I learned as I tried to get more ice in my water. He persevered and figured it out! My food arrived smelling and looking good. I love spinach and enjoy it cooked this way. There was a generous amount of very tender chicken pieces mixed in with the spinach. The seasoning was mildly seasoned which allowed my palate to enjoy each distinctive flavor. The vegetable curry was also tasty - cauliflower, carrots, green beans and a variety of mild herbs and seasonings. I also enjoyed the dal - again no bold flavors - but tasty and satisfying. The rice was fluffy and plentiful - more than enough fur the accompanying components of the meal. The highlight of the Thali was the most delicious Naan I've had in a long time. There were two perfect slices with ghee spread on top. I made an Indian "taco" with one of the slices and the chicken saag and a bit of the coconut rice pudding dessert. Most enjoyable bite! As usual, I was unable to eat it all and boxed the remains for dinner later. All the while, there were Asian-influenced music videos playing expressing a meditative theme. I decided to come back for lunch. They no longer have the buffet, but they do have lunch specials from opening until 3 PM. I decided to order the lunch special with Chef's special chicken curry . he asked what my spice level, and I said not too much. Medium to mild. Well obviously, there was a loss in translation somewhere, because the curry was pretty spicy. Right up to the very edge of what I can handle for spicy. There was a salad that was basically onions and tomatoes, the tomatoes helped cut down the spice a little bit. It tasted OK, it was just way too hot. It came with two sides, which were good, as well as naan, and basmati rice, which I love. The price was reasonable. I will come back again, just the next time I will be absolutely sure to ask for the mild. Thank you. read more

I came here with a friend, and we ordered the Samosas as an appetizer. These Samosas were huge! Samosas is a must when going to an Indian Restaurant! I also decided to go with the Lamb Lunch Plate, and the portions here was huge! It came with curry and some type of vegetable curry. The lamb was very good, the only thing I would complain about is I ordered very spicy and this wasn't spicy at all. In addition the water tasted funny. We got food to go for lunch. I ordered chicken tikka masala (mild) with white rice and naan. It was delicious; it was spiced just right and there were good size pieces of chicken breast meat. So I door dashed Paneer Tikka Masala with rice, Butter chicken with rice, veggie chili momo and garlic naan for the family and I. The flavors and spice levels were beyond delicious with every single item. Normally butter chicken is my favorite dish, but the Paneer Tikka Masala was the star of the show. This was the first on the list and I was happy to see there was a big vegetarian section on their menu. Walked in. Nobody there. There is a bell to ring to get someone's attention which is a little odd. Maybe they wouldn't need so many security cameras posted throughout the restaurant if they had someone managing the front of the house. Anyway ... After standing at the door for about 5 minutes, someone finally comes out. Tells us to sit wherever we would like. Follows us to the table and then leaves. Ten minutes sitting, I finally realized it was self-serve for menus. I got up, walked back to the cash register and grabbed our own menus. Ten more minutes, someone finally comes out to take our order, but he was holding menus. If I didn't grab our own menu, it would've been 20 minutes before we even got a menu apparently. Asked a couple of questions about the menu, specifically if the vegetarian dinner combo could be personalized. He said the vegetarian tikka masala could not be swapped with paneer tikka masala so we asked for a couple more minutes. Fifteen minutes later, he returns to take our order. Paneer Tikka Masala ($14.99, Grade C). Homemade cheese cooked in a creamy tomato sauce with herbs and spices. This is one of our go-to-dishes and this was way too saucy and runny and much sweeter than I am accustomed to. Dal Mahkani ($12.99, Grade C+) Simmered mixed lentils, seasoned with butter, herbs, and spices. Another staple, but because it was near room temperature, it was just okay. THE GOOD - the dishes came with rice, but the BAD, the rice was so cold. It was below room temperature. Naan ($2.99, Grade A+) Tandoori bread baked in a clay pot. The star of the show. THE BAD - we also ordered raita and tamarin. After our food was delivered, these weren't given at the time. We waited a few minutes, but both knew we weren't going to get this and we were right. We were never checked on once while we ate our food. Bottom line. Really bad service and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The food was cold and we didn't get everything we ordered. At checkout, they asked how everything was and I told them we never received the raita or tamarin and were told "it is just really busy and could get some now." We politely turned down a bowl of raita on our way out, but memo to all restaurant workers ... no patron wants to hear you are too busy as a reason you didn't get half-way decent service. Get the naan to go, but I would never recommend this place to anyone. Would I come back? Never. Would not recommend. Looking for really good Indian? This is my new favorite spot for Indian. Biggest reason is that chefs are consistent. There is another place that I won't mention that one time all the food is spot on and the next time it's dry and no good. Consistency in a restaurant is a critical thing. I like this Indian spice for this reason. ONLY complaint I have is small. The tandoori chicken meal comes with naan. I also ordered a side is naan with cilantro and garlic. My girlfriend and I came here a couple of years ago and swore we'd never return after eating probably the blandest and ironically most spiceless Indian food we'd ever had despite the restaurant's name. We decided to give it another chance last night since we had an entertainment book coupon and boy are we glad we did!! Everything was top notch. Turns out they have been under new management and ownership for 2 months now. They have a different chef who actually knows how to make top quality Indian food. Sadly, it was a Saturday night around 6:30 and we were the only customers in the joint. Anyone who's had a bad experience with Indian Spice in the past needs to come back and give this place another chance. The difference was like night and day. We ordered veggie Samosas, Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Mango chicken curry and garlic naan. Everything was 10/10 and I'm already looking forward to leftovers for lunch. We got everything medium spicy since my girlfriend is a bit of a spice wimp and it still had a really nice little heat kick to it but not too hot for her to enjoy. These guys have a reputation! And when I say that.. it's in the negative sense. Put in an order at 8:45pm on Uber Eats. They accept the order and it shows a ETA arrival of 9:25pm. Wait for the process of food getting prepared and driver picking up the food. It's about 9:20pm and I go on the app and looks like food is still being prepared but there is a driver on the way to pick up. But then they get near the restaurant and driver changes to someone who is some distance away. Then they drive up to the restaurant and change and someone else who is far away pick up the order. This happens thrice. It's is nearing 10:10pm by now. Finally the Uber driver who is supposed to pick up the order this time around calls me and tells me they are closed. Poor guy had driven all the way from Elk Grove for this order. Then finally I try to look them up to figure out what's going on and find out that they close at 9pm itself. So why did they even accept the order? They wasted my time and so many poor drivers. Super frustrating and unprofessional. I will never order from them ever. read more

We really wanted to like this place because we know the staff are Nepali, and they felt like home. I need to point out they treated a homeless man with such kindness by giving him food and water when he came in. When I gave the staff appreciation for that, he said "he's another human being, like you & me." We need more folks like you in the world! Now onto the food- loved the fluffy and buttery naan. Tandoori chicken and momos were wonderful. The lamb curry (dark yellow dish) was average- per my Nepali husband. The vindaloo is what brought this down a whole star. It's my usual dish and this 1 was really terrible. The flavor was tangy and tasted like a combo of ketchup and something else unknown to me. I couldn't even pretend to like it. Out of everything, the Veggie Tikka is what I remember enjoying the most, I had never heard of this little veggie patty before. Lamb Tikka Masala~ This tikki masala is 5 star worthy, from creamy tomato sauce that I love which reminds me of my favorite soup, tomato basil and that meat was very flavorful, tender and juicy! I love love love Indian food! It's so delicious. I have loved it for many years. But this was my first time ordering through door dash and in Sacramento. I usually had my Indian food at place in the Bay Area. I never once had any issues with the food. But my curiosity got the best of me in Sacramento. I ordered my fav chicken tikka masala. And I instantly felt sick as I digested the food. I do not want to blame the cook at all, but I was so sick to my stomach I had gotten the case of the runs. I was so sad. I love Indian food but it could be a bad batch or maybe my stomach may not tolerate I am not sure. But I felt like my money instantly went down the drain. I was so sad. I ordered this on a whim through Grubhub application. The driver from GrubHub, was quick, courteous and very professional.... I'll order chicken curry, Khmer and Lamb Biryani... these were all the nastiest Indian food I have ever tasted.. Though the lamb in the lamb Biryani was very tender the sauce.in it the rice mixture was just plain, sour and not tasty . whatsoever... I tried what they called was Khmer.. it just had a horrible taste it was not hot and spicy. Very mild. Just horrible... And last at least, their chicken curry.. it came in a separate plastic container. The sauce just looking at it. was just plain and see through.. Upon tasting it, and mixing up with some of the white rice .... I realize the texture and the taste of the chicken. It had been boiled in just plain water or broth, and had no flavor whatsoever.... I have cooked chicken, curry, many many times myself plus have gone to many places who had cooked chicken curry and you could definitely tell this has just been prepared and boiled water... I am not a "Hater" by any means nor do I enjoy giving anyone a bad review. This place used to be one of my favorite spots! In fact, this is the spot that turned me on to Indian Food. It used to be ANAZING!!! We started with apps and should've stopped there. We ordered Samosa Chaat and Chicken 65 because our old favorite of Gobi 65 was no longer available. The Chicken 65 was tasty, but the Samosa Chaat was just a bowl of goo that did not look appealing at all. We ate it because we were starving. Our entrees of Veggie Korma and a Tandoori Platter were absolutely terrible and inedible. The Korma resembled a bowl of congealed country gravy without the biscuits and the Tandoori Platter was just as bad. They had the nerve to cover it with this Tandoori-flavored cabbage business that tasted like they poured Tandoori marinade over it and called it a day. The Naan was superb! The beer tasted like it belonged in a bucket on top of Shawshank Prison (my first time tasting Indian beer). Service was meh. When we were asked if we wanted to box our vittles up and said no, our server was like, "whatever". Overall, a terrible dining experience for those who love Indian food. This place is a very "Hard Pass" in my opinion and please don't find out for yourself because you'll be setting yourself up for huge disappointment. read more

Ordered food to go. Got a lamb tikki masala and a chicken vindaloo. Curries were good but the rice and naan were a huge miss. Two rice included enough for one small kid, not two adults. I had to make my rice to go with my curry. The rice were in a small plastic bowl. The naan seemed like it was already made but just put in the microwave to warm it up. It wasn't nicely toasted with a bit of crunch to it. My naan was flimsy and was just disappointing. My curry was runny and not thick where it attaches to the naan and rice. Disappointing. My advice is to not order from here to go. Just eat inside. They give you better portions and better quality food then the crap they gave me for $40. They should be ashamed. read more

This worries me great deal because one, the proximity he came to me and my food, and two, that he may have been cooking and handling my meal without a mask! I absolutely love this dish, I think I had it twice in one month which isn't common for me as I like to switch things up. It had the perfect amount of spice. I also tried the butter chicken (medium spice) but it wasn't spicy to me. Perhaps that entree is supposed to have more of a creamy flavor which is why it wasn't that spicy. I usually love naan and I love garlic, but for some reason I wasn't feelin the garlic naan here. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other Indian restaurants. Basing this review off a grub hub order. Ordered: Chicken Tikka, Chicken Korma, and Butter Chicken. And an order of samosas. Once we received our food, I noticed that the rice that the description said it came with was NOT included. So we had ordered three main dishes with NO rice to put with it. SUPER disappointing. If it weren't for us being at a hotel, I wouldn't care too much cause we usually have white or basmati rice on hand we could have made to go with it, but that wasn't the case tonight. And for $15 per entree, I feel like it should come with the rice, especially since I double checked the description (noticing more and more Indian places are skimping on that). Aside from that, the flavors were really good. I had the korma and the tikka. Both were very different and the spice level was mild which is nice because we tend to find places that are SO spicy that that's the only flavor you taste. The only off thing that the butter chicken sauce was SO runny like it had been watered down. The other two were at least a little thicker. I cannot share on the flavor of that cause my husband hogged it all, but not before complaining about the thinness. The samosas were good, but almost cold. Compared to the blazing hot entrees, I was shocked at the temperature of the samosas. I feel like if our order came with rice, this would be a five star review. But everytime I've went it got worse and worse and they always forget my rice when it comes with the order. But this last time I went was my first time in a while and definitely my last time ever going again, the chicken was burnt and had no sauce and I get 2/5 of the way threw eating and I started seeing black stringy things and I take two out and turn my phone flashlight on and they were roach legs and I look threw the chicken and found three more. And the owner or manager guy who's always in the front handing you the other is a creep pervert he has asked me my age where I lived and always stares like a creep.
