I had a collection of National Geographic Magazines in beautiful condition that was over 30 years old, and could find no one to take them. I hated the thought of having to destroy them. I called them after many days of trying to find someone to take them, and they agreed to take them in and use some in there store and the rest in the library. I was so happy that they received a home where they would be appreciated for the incredible works that they are. I cannot thank them enough for being so caring and helpful. The staff were helpful and friendly, there were several areas to sit and study (despite the size of the library), it was clean and well kept, furniture was clean, several computer stations, they have a quiet room and rooms to reserve for groups. I enjoy small local libraries. Was well kept and good. I sat and began working. Unfortunately, I guess there was a shift change or something because within 15min the place became very loud and very active. The activity was fine but the loudness was odd. The woman employee at the front desk set the tone for that and everyone began interacting and speaking loudly. Endless flow of people engaging and talking with raised volume in the workspace. Most who were working and sitting in that area got up and left, which makes sense. When things slowed down with patrons no longer comign up to the main desk, the woman up front engaged other colleagues in conversation and was walking around the space and continued to speak as if it was her living room - loudly. And the other patrons who I guess didn't care about quiet took her lead and began using their outside voices. I tried to ignore it and continued working but the loud voices were super irritating and when the loud laughter started that was it. Quite unfortunate for a small community library. It is a cute place and my experience started great but the culture turned that late morning into early afternoon and was really bad. It was less a library environment and more like an active office space with people talking to each other across the room.

Tons of outlets to plug in your devices wherever you want to sit. There is also a gallery space and other displays throughout the library with artwork. Also, one of the most interesting automated storage and retrieval facility systems I've ever seen. It is super tall and stores over 12,000 bins holding numerous boxed items in a temperature controlled environment to protect the items.

This library has a five star children's department. it's inviting with games like oversized checkers for the bigger kids and developmental toys for the toddler sect. They have such a variety of children's programs from mommy and me. to steam club for elementary age to game nights for teens dispersed in between with arts and craft and parties. They employ two of the best staff you'll ever meet in the youth department. They know the names of all the children who frequent the library and boy are they patient. The library has a reading room for parents to read their little ones even the adult side is inviting and make sure you want to stay and read a while. it may not be huge but it's perfect for our town.

I found the strongest aspect of the Melbourne Beach Public Library is their music section. Here you will find CDs of David Bowie, the Beatles, the Doors, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, along w/ Shane MacGowan and the Pogues. The section of books is a bit small perhaps due to the size of the library as a whole yet still some good titles to be found. They have a nice set up for those interested in playing chess or checkers. Cool displays such as Christmas in July w/ Christmas DVDs available to check out. They have a new & popular check out for DVDs called Stellar Sellers which is here where I found the Joan Jett DVD "Bad Reputation". Jett is a vegan & practices Ashtanga Yoga like me. She has been holding it down many decades as a singer & songwriter so look forward to watching this bio pic documentary.
