Found this food truck while charging. Surprised it was open later in the night. Friendly staff. Some seating outside but it was too cold that night. Wanted a quick snack so we got the samosa and garlic naan. Samosa was crispy on the outside and came with a tasty sauce but the inside was a bit cold. Garlic naan had good garlic flavors. The chai came out super hot and had great flavor. Would try their other stuff if charging there again. read more

A few nice tables and seating near this food truck. The delicious aroma got us to come over to it lol. Hella close to the supper chargers. Very friendly and welcoming lady at the window who didn't cringe as we butchered the pronunciation of each of the many dishes we ordered. We love Indian food and eat it a lot, esp as vegetarians- but I'm pretty horrible at pronunciation in any other language other than English and maybe my limited Japanese pronunciations decent lol, but she was a really good sport when I ordered bc I know it was not sounding the way it should whenever I order Indian or Thai foods in particular. Indian Kitchen 80 is a small Indian food truck that was a good first stop for us for lunch when we were on our way from Truckee to the South Bay area. There are a lot of good options, both vegetarian and meat. The service was friendly, and the food was ready fast. We had their samosa chaat, dal makhani, and a garlic naan. Everything was quite authentic and served hot. The Samosas in particular, were good. I love trying food trucks. This one definitely didn't disappoint! The Kadai paneer was amazing, with a rich, fragrant masala sauce. The garlic naan was great. And the mango lassi was probably the best I've had. Definitely from fresh mango! Ordered another we liked it so much. Nice outside seating area in warm weather. My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way home, and we were so glad there was a authentic indian cuisine. We ordered tea, tandoori chicken, dal makhani, and paratha, and plain rice. The food was tasty and the service was friendly. The food was nice and hot, and the spice level was typical Indian spice level. The masala tea was in a pretty big cup, so the portion was really nice. Parking was fine it's located at a chevron gas station that is fully equipped. There were non-veg and vegetarian options. We would recommend and probably will stop again if we are ever passing through the area as it was very authentic. We ended up finding a parking spot right next to the food truck. There's some pop up table and chairs that are first come first serve. It was also sunny, so I would recommend a hat and sunglasses. read more

Honestly I'm not even sure how they got positive reviews. The garlic naan was dry and didn't taste good. The chicken curry was off too. Super salty and didn't taste good at all. Super disappointed in the food. The lady was nice so that was a plus, but the food was such a let down. I took two bites and threw the rest away. read more

I was very excited to have another option between Colfax and Truckee for lunch. I can only eat so much Subway. This is a unique place and I hope it will get better. Service: the two gentleman inside the truck weren't "nice" but also not rude. Just very matter- a-fact. It didn't look like they had much to do in a while. The ambiance was food truck casual. A table and some folding chains, but it was cold and threatening to rain so it wasn't all that important. What is important is the food. I got the butter chicken and an order of naan. The naan was stale. Either frozen and microwaved or the bag it came from had a hole. The butter chick had good flavor, but was very think and heavy. The chicken itself was the best part, moist and tender. I hope they up their game. I'll give them a month or two and then try again. read more

So you're thinking 24-hour (yes 24-hour!) Indian Food in Emigrant Gap. Doesn't make any sense right? First the food: This place is pretty legit. Real tandoor in the food truck, hardcore flavors. Curries were great. Naan and rotis were great. Chai and mango lassi too (although we thought the chai was a bit too sweet). Chicken biryani was the only "ok" thing we had. Everything else was outstanding. Now the story. Decent Indian food in Emigrant Gap, not near any major city seems weird right? I-80 is a major route for truckers and quite a few truckers are Indian so makes sense as as stop-off point. Bonus points are this is right beside a bank of Tesla superchargers and a couple of ChargePoint ~62kW chargers. Great spot for a quick bite or takeout on the way up or back from Tahoe. read more

Not sure what we ordered as my husband asked the gentleman for whatever was the most popular. He said it was creamy something and just went with that. I wish I was there to order because it was amazing! It reminded me a hit like butter chicken, but it wasn't. Sorry this isn't too helpful but the portion was great, food was super fresh as we waited 10-12 minutes (as was stated to us upon order), and it was so flavorful. This place is in the middle of nowhere you would expect good Indian food. We tried paneer kadhai and dal makhani and enjoyed it thoroughly. The cook came out to ask about the overall experience which felt genuine. They came across as honest and hard working folks. Recommend ordering naan and tandoori roti instead of tava roti. The food is yummy and delicious. Everything is freshly prepared. They prepare it after taking your order. It's a good Punjabi meal after a long drive on the mountains. They have few chairs and table to sit and eat or you can also use your car as a table to eat some good food taking in the awesome views. read more

Really loved the freshness at this place! Our family went in today and drove all the way from North Tahoe where we are staying for this weekend. They not only had fresh Indian food but flavours are very authentic for a food truck in the middle of no where. Hot desi chai with fresh tandoori roti and curries and Daal is something you can drive for an hour even in heavy snow. They are doing a service and I really appreciate their fair prices. read more

I stopped here last night and couldn't be more delighted for my decision. I ordered the Shahi paneer and garlic naan. It was SO delicious, and I realized I didn't take a picture of the name of truck. Thankfully my apple wallet knew! The paneer was served in a creamy spiced, rich sauce, was so good hands down the best I have ever had. And I am well-traveled in Indian food.
