Chole Batura

There was a time that this India Sweets and Spices location was a hit or miss. Recently though, it seems to have had a turn around in the positive direction. I come here mostly to get carry out of different size containers of vegetable options from their hot case. The items are prepared fresh and come out around 11 am. I have to say that their vegetable samosas are always different and good. Their freshly prepared aloo paratha has improved by leaps and bounds. Having that only with Raita is a treat. You get the chance to not only taste the potatoes, but also the wheat portion of the Paratha with its nice charred taste. The offerings in the hot case change daily, so if you are in the mood for vegetarian Indian food and do not wish to cook, stop by here. The majority of the space is a grocery store, with reasonable prices and a vast selection of everything that you will need (including snacks), to show your culinary prowess in your home kitchen. Service is always attentive and good.

Great service. When you come in, you instantly get greeted and seated and asked if you are ordering or there for the lunch buffet. We always go for the buffet, then you are asked about your preference for Naan. You are free to go about getting your own plate and packing it at your own desire. you can always get another plate to get more food, and don't worry, they refill the food quite frequently and quickly when any of it goes low. The food is great. Everything tastes fresh. The goat is amazing; it is well cooked and does not have game smell to it. One thing I would wish for, is some Sagg without the Paneer. Just straight Sagg would be nice, for those with Lactose problems :) but it is nice that there is a decent variety for those with Lactose problems. Definitely come and try their lunch buffet, it will get you addicted! Come once, and come back always again!

This place is the best. You'd be hard pressed to find flavorful, vegetarian food of this quality at this price! It tastes like your grandma is cooking it in the back. So flavorful, so fast, and just so good! The staff is also all so sweet and focused on getting you your food timely and kindly. It's not a restaurant but a grocery store with a food court style area in the back so you aren't really going for the ambiance but it's very homely and sweet nonetheless. You can also get your grocery shopping done before or after you eat so it's super convenient. And if you crave something sweet after go to the front counter and get yourself some yummy goods! Personally recommend the pani puri or gol guppa!

The food is delicious and affordable. I come here and take food to go, but if you want to eat here there's tables, not fancy at all which I don't mind. Service is okay don't expect outstanding greetings. I come here for the food and product to cook. I love how inexpensive is. The food is always delicious, a little on the spicy side. There's plenty of vegetarian options available and protein as well. Plenty of parking in the shopping center. The ambiance is not there don't expect much.

Met a friend here for a late meal. Unassuming restaurant in a spice shop. Decent portion sizes good flavor, and good variety of dishes. I ordered the Aloo Gobi. Cooked well and really enjoyed it. Naan was made fresh and was fantastic. Service and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Worker seemed bothered by customers being in there. I ordered the combo and paid 15 dollars on a 12 dollar total. Worker didnt give me change or a receipt. He just walked off. Also they have an old Thrifty's Ice Cream sign hanging up but when asked, they said they dont sell ice cream. Food 4/5 Price 5/5 Vibes 4/5 Service 1/5 More than likely wont return but might for the actual storefront for all the spices and ingredients.

Everyone who works here is so nice. I am a self taught home cook and have finally gotten brave enough to try cooking Indian food. I got a list together of all the spices I didn't already have and found all of them here. When I went to check out, the woman at the register asked if someone I knew was cooking real Indian food. I said I was going to try. She gave me this box of sweets as encouragement. They were all delicious. And the fish curry I ended up making turned out perfectly spiced!

Plenty of seating to enjoy your meal. There's a fridge on the way to the cashier with plenty of dessert, ice cream, and beverage choices to choose from. The fullness & deliciousness from the food distracted me and had me forget, but will definitely try the Mango Lassi & Rice Pudding on my next trip! The pudding's made with basmati rice so that's what caught my attention. Was greeted by a nice gentleman who provided me with great recommendations. He even checked in on all his customers while we were eating. 10/10 customer service our whole time there. He was kind enough to give us a drink & rice on the house to go along with one of our entrees! We got: Chicken Korma and Lamb Briyani The chicken was in a yellow, creamy sauce - curry. The aromatics & spices put into these dishes were so comforting. Both the chicken & lamb were so savory, tender and each bite was very flavorful. The rice was very fluffy and delicious. Garlic Naan Served fresh and warm. Not oily, but wasn't dry! Every bite was soft. The garlic was subtle, but perfectly present in every bite. Samosas These were HEAVEN SENT. Idk what kind of seasoning or filling they used - I believe there were potatoes, lentils, veggies? I didn't know what to expect for the filling, but it was sooo good. One order came in 3 pieces & they were HUGE. These are a MUST if you go here! They came with 2 sauces which both paired very well w the samosas. If I'm ever craving this kind of food, this is the restaurant I will choose to go to. Best spot in town! Customer service, experience, & food all surpassed my expectations. Definitely will come back & try more things off their menu! + they have discounts if you attend CSUN!

Since it was a group visit, we ended up tasting almost everything on the menu--and every single item impressed us. We started with pani puri, which was fresh, tangy, and full of that classic street-food punch. The chili chicken was crispy and spicy with great flavor, while the hakka noodles were well seasoned and comforting. The jhol momos were rich and flavorful, and the steamed momos were juicy, soft, and perfectly cooked--simple and delicious. One of the biggest highlights was their new addition: Maggi. It was hands down the best--pure nostalgia in a bowl and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave. And for me, the clear winner was the loaded fries--crispy, generously topped, and absolutely addictive. I loved them and would happily go back just for those. Even though it's a food truck, it gives you the perfect feel of enjoying authentic snacks and momos, just like true street food should. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and service was quick and friendly. If you're craving authentic Himalayan flavors, comforting momos, and nostalgic snacks, Himalaya Momos is a must-try. As I have said before, they have the best Tandoori Chicken (bone in), anywhere. I came here to dine in for lunch. Why? I had this longing for Pakistani Biriyani (in my humble opinion, nobody makes it better). I debated, then still selected the Pakistani Chicken (bone in) Biriyani. There is a boneless option, but why. Has anybody forgotten about the elements of taste and flavor? My Biriyani dish arrives as a generous portion, the right temperature, full of mesmerizing aromas, perfectly balanced flavor, spices and color and well distributed in terms of chicken and rice. As a comment, chicken was a tough. The ideal way to eat this, IMHO, is with yoghurt or raita. Unfortunately, they were out of that, so they supplied the carry out mint yogurt sauce cups. Not the best, but an okay substitute. Service was good, but very scanty, and annoying. Staff need to pay more attention to the customers, full time. This must be their primary focus. Instead of talking loudly with colleagues, about their customers and other issues. Have they forgotten that, there are customers in the restaurant that need immediate attention, and service.

As such, one cuisine (and there are more) that fits the bill is that from India. There are a plethora of restaurants in both the SFV and the Lost Angeles area, mainly centered around Northern cuisine. But tell me, do you know of one that is consistent in its delivery of memorable, hallmark dishes? Yes, there is a place in Canoga Park, called New India Palace. They serve a lunch buffet (11 am to 3 pm) daily, 7 days a week, that is unmatched, anywhere in these environs. It now runs at $14.99 plus tax, very reasonable, I might add, with a delicious selection of mouthwatering dishes. Recently, I found dahi vada (deep fried lentil donuts soaked in yoghurt and topped with chutneys and spices) as one of the selections (never seen that in any Indian buffet). It is one of my favorite Indian appetizers. And that too, it was superbly prepared. Their goat curry with aromatic brown gravy, goes well with the included freshly prepared naan (I chose the garlic version). There is chicken biriyani, pappar (fire roasted lentil and pepper wafers), yellow lentils (their version is fantastic), Saag (spinach) and aloo gobi (cauliflower and potatoes), to name a few. Chili chicken was okay, but the tandoori chicken came out dry, for both my pieces. Either way, this is not a knock down of this place. Overall, their Indian buffet food is the best in the Valley.
