3.5 stars, but I'll round up since the man working was nice! Decent shop to grab some Indian sweets and household grocery, spices, etc. BE WARNED: The staff do not wear masks here. Ironically, they do sell N95 masks here though. The store was pretty messy and they even keep some of their vegetable boxes on the floor. The glass displays for the prepared food were a bit cloudy and not super clear. Nothing inside was labeled either, so I had to awkwardly point at the sweets that I wanted in the display. I asked for 5 rasgulla, 2 carrot burfi, and 2 samosas. The man working was super sweet and gave us 6 rasgulla, 3 carrot burfi, and 2 samosas. With a couple freebies, our total was $8. What a great price! The rasgulla was AMAZING! The perfect sweetness and I loved the taste of the rosewater. The carrot burfi had a pretty strong carrot flavor that paired very well with the almonds on top. The sweets were so delicious. The samosas seemed to be sitting there for a while at the display, but I still ordered two. The man gave us two sauces and warmed up the samosas in the microwave. They were not super crispy in texture, but the flavor was good.

Samosas from here are pretty good. They are loaded with potatoes, herbs, and spices. It'll be a lot better if it's cooked to order so it's crispy and hot. They come with mint sauce and tamarind sauce. Mint sauce was good but could be more spicy and the tamarind sauce was way way too sweet.

    $7.99 #2 Combo

This place and the #2 combo singlehandedly got me through college. It has been $7.99 for the past THREE YEARS! They literally resist inflation more than any business I have ever been to and their quality has gotten BETTER over time. Do yourself a favor and try the paneer. Also the owner is so nice! This is my favorite restaurant in Riverside! (P.S. the picture is of the sheer amount of food they give you for $7.99!!!)

Great little Indian market for food and groceries! Just across the street from UCR, perfect for students on a budget. Always come here for the Thalis, never disappoints. My go-to is the #2 with okra and paneer masala.

Clean dining and shopping area and the shop offered good fresh cooked Masala milk tea!

Wow! The food was amazing and only $2.99! What!? I came away full and happy. The menu is vegetarian, so if you are craving some meat, this is not the place for you. Although it is vegetarian, it is quite hearty and I did not find myself missing the meat at all (I love eating chicken... sorry). I had the Thali Special and was happy to see the variety and portions. I also got a Mango Lassi that was the best I have had. I am pretty sure that it had real mango blended in with it and not just some syrup. Delicious. The Indian Grocery is also quite amazing and has anything you would ever need to cook some delicious Indian at home.

This is top notch. Mind you this is northern Indian and not to be compared with southern I found it since it was close to the military base and I so glad I tried it. I had the bone in goat briyani which was succulent, huge portions and paired with their Raita it was perfectly balanced . Compared to the classic Hyderabadi style this has less spices and overall ingredients but it's more savory which is common with most northern style Indian food. Just a gem of place

My group of 4 arrived promptly at 11am, when Yelp stated they were open, but I saw that they had opened a little early and two customers were already served and seated. There were 4 or 5 interior tables that could seat groups of 4. When you walk inside you go straight to the counter to order your food. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us with a big smile and explained the menu. They have 3 combo options (1 vs 2 vs 3 entree) that includes the foods in the hot food display counter or you could order a larger size portion as a single entree off the menu. Things in the hot food display were 1. Chicken tikka masala (spicy and non spicy options) 2. Vegetable Korma 3. Goat Curry (extra$). 4. Saag Paneer 5. Tandoori chicken 6. Aloo Gobi 7. Lentil dish, and I think some others but can't remember!! Anyways after you pick at the counter the employees scoop it in front of you - with the combo meals you get rice and naan. We all chose combos so we could try the different dishes. I really love eggplant and was bummed it was not on the hot selections but guess what? Nice man made it for us anyways to put in our combos!!!! All the flavoring of the food was on point and delicious! The spicy tikka masala is not something for the weak so if you don't like heat then order the "regular" tikki masala. Meat was tender on the goat and chicken dishes. My favorite however was the eggplant, I seriously could eat it everyday Staff were so sweet and kind. We even had a nice conversation about shared interests (running races) and he shared a story about his friend doing the Everest marathon and showed us the pictures. Amazing!! So support small businesses my friends because this was yet again another hidden gem in riverside!

This is buffet style and I chose those items. My husband ordered chicken korma to be made which was different from what we are used to...looks like they didn't use yogurt because it didn't taste creamy so that's why we're giving them 4 stars instead of 5 stars. The biryani rice was decent not the greatest but good probably not enough ingredients like nuts and raisins etc. The garlic naan was ok. My husband really likes the samosas and it's like $2 something a piece. People were nice and service was great when we asked for more sauce (tikka masala). Not much of an ambiance.

After reading the reviews, I now see that the ownership has changed. Makes sense for the change in atmosphere and quality. The samosas used to be packed with stuffing and flavorful. Now the samosas I got recently are cold and smaller. The crust also seems to be different? It was almost burnt tasting. The icing on the cake (and the reason for my review) is the metal I found in my rice. I thought it was a spice at first but I'm glad I checked it before I ate it. Looks like part of the metal scrubber used to clean dishes. When I called them to let them know, the lady who answered didn't even try to make it right or offer a refund or replacement. She was nice and apologized but my meal was kind of ruined by the piece of metal so it would've been nice to at least gotten the option to replace it. Not sure if I will be coming back. Not a huge issue, but something to keep in mind if you're really hungry. Food was interesting in a good way. The curry dishes have a lighter color and a different flavor compared to typical Indian cuisine. You can tell it's a Pakistani style. I enjoyed trying something different, although I personally still prefer the richer, more familiar Indian flavors. The samosas were very good, and the green sauce, I believe it's called hari, was especially delicious and added a nice kick. The mango lassi drink was a surprise highlight. I'm usually not a big fan of mango lassi, but this one was super delicious. Honestly felt like a hidden gem on the menu. ***One thing to note, check your receipt before paying.
