There is nothing Indian about it if you know what it should taste like. Another concern is that it seems left over was warmed up. It was on a Sunday and saw owner/cook come in 15mins prior to opening g so I can say nothing spiked is fresh. Had salted yogurt Lassi, even this simple drink was bad. Had two sips and left it. It should be made with all yogurt but this tasted like two spoons of yogurt and rest water. Very sad and disappointed. If I could give this place a negative number I would. I was craving good food and so took a drive to come out here. We made reservations because we had a large group. I asked for chicken Tikka masala, which comes with rice. The spice level was medium, and it was super light but still delicious. I ordered samosas, however, I am ashamed to say I ate them without taking a picture. To drink I got the Indian tea (chai) and I shared a mango lassi with my wife. The service was very friendly. They did take a little while to bring out the food, but we did order A LOT. I have been here twice on different days and hours (I did not have their buffet), and both times I experienced slow service also did not have the most attentive servers, but India Palace's food is worth the wait. I highly enjoyed their assorted vegetable appetizer, specifically their deep-fried onions. I enjoyed their chicken and lamb curry, especially when I asked for mild and hot, and both were just right. Yet, you may consider visiting if you are in a time crunch. India Palace has a calm ambiance. After the business sold, I expected some rough patches. As a fan of this restaurant for the last 15 years or so, I vowed to continue my support of the new owners through the transition. Though the early months were a bit shaky, the food quality remained high and at least some of the staff were friendly and competent. My work schedule shifted around a bit, so I started ordering take out to continue my support even though it had become difficult to dine in. Sure, the take out portions and wait times were super inconsistent, but I chalked it up to the ownership change and continued trying to be supportive. My schedule shifted again and I was able to meet up with a friend and eat in at least once a week, but the service had gone down. The main floor server was now outright hostile to customers (take-out customers too for that matter...) after 3 unpleasant weeks in a row, my friend and I decided we were done. We've spent 2 months going elsewhere and being reminded that good service is makes everything better. Tonight, after 2 months away, we decided to give it another chance. The menu has been updated, there were new employees working and we had high hopes that things might have turned around. Long story short, my dine in food was good. My chai was adequate (though not particularly good) and the service was a bit better. I ordered an entrée to go for lunch tomorrow and had a (rather delayed) refill of my Chai. Service wasn't as awkward or hostile as it had been, but it's still far from good. When the bill and to-go orders arrived, the total seemed a little high, but I didn't really think about it. When I picked up the to-go, it felt rather light. The inconsistent (small) portion sizes are back (here on a cheap to make vegetarian dish that I can prepare at home for around $3.00) and suddenly for the first time ever, I was charged for my chai refill (and yes, I did note the menu updates above, there is no mention about charges for refills now.) Frankly, the chai wasn't particularly good for the 1st fee, but the 2nd charge was adding insult to injury. We'll see if the taste of the to-go entrée is up to standard, but I think India Palace is back on the boycott list for me again. I can't give this place a high enough rating. First, the ambiance. It's very nice and classy, but still somewhere you can bring children. That's a big plus in my book. There were two other people at the restaurant while we sat and the manager had us sit right when we arrived. The menu has plenty of choices with detailed descriptions. I chose the chicken madras and the paneer Naan. My friend ordered the Tikka marsala and garlic Naan with an order of samosas. The samosas looked very good and tasted better. The food comes out after a bit and you can tell they make everything in house. It was so fresh and flavorful. The madras I ordered is in a coconut cream but you can't tell there's coconut in it. The Naan. I could eat that everyday. The cheese was gooey and so yummy. Everything was so delicious. The onllllly thing I would change is they only offer one refill with drinks and that threw me off, so I didn't get a drink other than water. They do offer a military discount which is awesome. When checking out, the gentleman told me they had just bought the place this week and welcomed us back anytime. Here's where their service gets even better. So my friend I was with asked me to carry her kiddo to the car. In doing so, completely left my phone on the table. I don't check my phone very often so four hours later my friend called the restaurant to ask if I had left it. The manager had waited around the restaurant to see if I would come back. He was able to meet up and make sure I received my phone. He was probably one of the nicest managers I had ever met. So thankful for his kindness and how excellent the food was! read more

Pre-COVID. I have the absolute BEST memories of this place. When I was stationed at Ft. Bliss this was our go-to! This was my first experience with Indian food and I was hooked. They have AWESOME tandoori chicken and their chai is on point. I always loved their buffet. Might be a while before they can do buffets again, but I highly recommend getting food from here! Ambiance - Indian restaurants are usually really shabby or really nice, there's not really an in-between and this one is fairly nice. Dim lighting, table cloth lined tables, etc. Service - Very attentive and quick to be seated. The food also comes out fairly fast as well. Food: Chicken Tikka Masala - Average tikka masala with less of a kick than I usually like it. Garlic naan - I love naan and this is the only place to get them. Large pieces and decent, but a little expensive. Pricing - ~$20 after tax and tip. For one meal, that's pretty expensive and I couldn't even get any leftovers. Overall, it's not a bad place if you're craving Indian food, but not the best quality-wise and value-wise. The meats were incredibly tender, and the goat fell right off the bone. The portions were healthy, meaning they didn't overstuff the plate. And we walked out instead of waddled. The Naan, in case you get one, stick to one portion. It's more than enough for two people. The samosa was okay. Wouldn't get it again, but it was okay. The mango lassi was eh. I needed to eat healthy food with little oil to get better, but didn't have the energy to cook. India Palace was so helpful when I called, that they recommended dishes that I could have as a vegetarian and made it a point to use little oil. The person at the front desk even asked the chef before recommending dishes to me, which was so helpful! I had a really great lunch thanks to them. I order the Dal Tarka, Chana Masala, and Aloo Gobi, with Raita and Tandoori roti (without butter). It was a delicious meal. All the food was very tasty and not oily at all, which I was really concerned with as usual spots tend to be quite generous with it. Give them a call, and they will work with all your dietary needs in El Paso! We wanted to check out the other Indian place in town, and we're super pleased! They were out of the first couple items we asked for, but settled on a couple beers and the Veggie Samosa appetizer. The samosas were very good (basically the same as everywhere else), and the sauces for it were great! My boyfriend had the Chicken tikka masala. He liked it a lot and it was the right amount of spice as well. I really enjoyed my Vegetable korma dish, and my boyfriend thought it had even more flavor than his dish. We were warmly greeted when we walked in the door and instructed to choose our table. Let me just tell you about the ambiance of this place. Upon entering, the decorations, lighting and aromas are very inviting. We were followed closely to our table and handed menus to gaze upon. It took a few minutes for someone to come to take our order, but it was an adequately timed response as we were ready when he arrived. Sen, our server, was very patient to answer our questions and give his opinion of the appetizers; this was our first time coming to this place. We ordered the Samosas on Sen's suggestion. They were great by the way! My husband and I went the safe route with our entrees and ordered the non-vegetarian plate that was a complete experience-to include drinks and a desert. WOW! The butter chicken and lamb curry were exquisite and the lentils were one of my personal favorites; the naan was fresh and delicious! Sen was very attentive with drink refills and a pleasure to converse with. All in all, I give this place 5 stars because it was a place that my husband and I will revisit to try something different. I've been enjoying India Palace for over a decade now and am not sure why I never took the time to write a review. Maybe because it is such a staple of the El Paso dining scene and has stood the test of time, I never thought of it. Needless to say, there's a reason it has hung around so long when other Indian places have come and gone in that time. The food is consistent and delicious. Due to COVID we were missing eating here, but thankfully they can be found on a few delivery services and obviously they do a hefty takeout business. Although I've sampled much of the menu, now I stick to Chicken Korma, an order of Samosas, an order of garlic Naan, and the Bhindi Masala. You can't go wrong with their Korma sauce no matter your protein. Its so freaking good and is something someone unfamiliar with Indian Cuisine will enjoy while offering a more unique flavor profile than the ubiquitous Tikka Masala. Highly Recommended read more

I am only guessing because this was my first experience with Indian cuisine. I do not think my order was right because it did not contain beef and it had a very lemony flavor. All I can say is... I guess ignorance is bliss. Although I noticed the lack of beef this was the best meal I have had in a very long time. I don't know what I ate, but I ate all of it. Oily food and slow service. Our server was polite and courteous, but otherwise this place is really bad. One of the worst Indian restaurants I've ever been to. I was eating mouthfuls of salty oil and my partner got a bloody nose and sharted himself on the way home. The manager compensated us for one dish and a side dish but it still came out to be $35 for food that was terrible. I would have just gone to McDonald's if I knew it was gonna be that oily!
