Indian food is limited in Las Cruces, NM so decided to venture into El Paso, TX. This place was closest for us (coming from Las Cruces) so we picked it. Meeting my brother and his wife for my birthday dinner. We ordered a variety of dishes. The Tandoor chicken, samosas, and chicken biryani were very good. The chicken tikka masala was ok, my wife ordered spicy but it was bland. I ordered the lamb vindaloo spicy but it was bland as well. My brother ordered garlic chicken and it tasted more Asian than Indian (had a lot of ginger which overpowered the garlic). Oddly, the dishes had a lot of cilantro which was new to me (having eaten Indian food all over the US). Figured it must be an El Paso thing? The Indian restaurants in Santa Fe, NM and Albuquerque, NM (where we used to live) are very much better than this place was. I can't give it more than 3 stars - average quality I suppose. Probably won't go again, but will try other Indian restaurants in El Paso. read more

The best butter chicken I've had. The curry chicken my friend ordered was also amazing. Only 4 stars because the naan is more like a thin crispy tortilla than a soft, thick traditional naan. I was not a fan of the cucumber raita, but that was personal taste. Service was great too! read more

This is our favorite place for Indian food in EP! We pick up from them on the west side and take it home to where we live in the NE and it's absolutely delicious! The chicken tikka, biryani, and garlic naan are our go-tos. Don't be afraid to spice it up for more flavor... we like it spicy! Food is always packaged well and super fresh! Love that there is a new Indian restaurant in El Paso. Stopped here for lunch, started with Gol Gappa (aka Pani Puri) and it was soooo good! Definitely something different to try and it was a refreshing bite to dunk it into the flavored water! Then we ordered the butter chicken and malai kofta with garlic and chili naan. Both were delicious, flavorful, and freshly made. The naan was perfect. Highly recommend this place! Will be back again soon read more

Tandoor and Curry Grand Opening - A Flavorful Start! I stopped by Tandoor and Curry the other day and noticed they were still setting up. Even with their hands full, the staff warmly greeted me and mentioned they'd be opening Sunday. So of course, I made it a point to swing by and show them some support on their big day. For those who don't know, the team here comes from another Indian restaurant in town and decided to branch out on their own. Their menu leans more towards Northern Indian and Pakistani cuisine, which means you'll find mutton, lamb, and beef--a nod to the meat-heavy traditions of Pakistani food. While Indian cuisine tends to have more veggie-based dishes with layered spice blends, Pakistani dishes focus on bold, rich flavors with a simpler spice palette. All Meat is Halal A great highlight for many diners is that all of their meat is halal, making it a welcome option for those looking for halal dining in El Paso. Extensive Menu Options One of the pleasant surprises was how extensive the menu is. While it's meat-forward, they also offer a variety of vegetarian dishes and biryanis for every palate. Whether you're looking for something hearty or plant-based, there's plenty to choose from. Drinks & Atmosphere I started with a mango lassi, always a must for me, and worth noting--the water served here is bottled. The tables were nicely arranged with cutlery and clean settings, but be prepared: food takes a while to come out. They're a small team in the kitchen, and while the dining area is spacious (I saw several large parties of 10-15), they're still working with one waitress and one server. They're even still looking for a dishwasher! But despite being short-staffed, service was genuinely good, and everyone was kind and welcoming. Appetizers & Mains I ordered the chicken tikka kebabs, not realizing it was listed as an appetizer. That said, the portion was large enough to pass for an entree. For my main dish, I went with the classic chicken tikka masala, along with a side of cheese kulcha, which honestly reminded me of a delicious stuffed crust pizza. The cheese was ooey-gooey and a bit saltier than mozzarella, and the portion was generous. We also tried the plain naan and garlic naan--both with a lovely texture, but the garlic naan really stood out with that punch of ghee, herbs, and roasted garlic. The chicken tikka masala was flavorful without being overly spicy. I asked for mild so my daughter could try it, and while she still found it a bit spicy, I thought the heat level was just right for that setting. It was rich and aromatic, with no gritty texture that you sometimes get at other places. If I had one critique, it's the texture of the chicken in both dishes--it was a bit on the tough side. Not a deal-breaker, but something they might smooth out as they settle in. The rice was tasty but I do wish they gave more of it, especially since it pairs so well with the curries. A side of rice is $1.55, which is reasonable but something to keep in mind. Dessert & Final Thoughts I finished with the kheer, a creamy rice pudding with nuts and that beautiful cardamom flavor I love. It was sweet, nutty, and perfectly comforting. Overall, this was a really promising first experience. There's not much in terms of décor yet--it's a bit sparse inside--but the food more than makes up for it. And with a 15% grand opening discount, I felt like I got great value. I even had plenty to take home. They're not on Uber Eats yet but should be up in about a month once verification goes through. If you're excited to see more diverse and authentic cuisine in El Paso, definitely give them a try. I have a feeling this spot is going to become a local favorite. read more

Our return visit to Tandoor and Curry was even better than the first. Having learned from our initial experience, we ordered our meals at a "Medium" spice level instead of "Hot." While one of our entrees, the chicken saag, was still very hot, the other two, the chicken biryani and chicken mughlai, were perfectly spiced. As before, the onion kulcha was outstanding. Plain ice water is now available rather than just bottled water--a most welcome positive change. Service was attentive, accurate and excellent overall. Unlike for our first visit, the big-screen TVs were turned on, initially playing Hindu chants (at low volume) and then switching to inoffensive mood music. We haven't yet been to every Indian restaurant in El Paso, but it's hard to believe that any of the ones that we've missed so far could be better then Tandoor and Curry. read more

Do not sleep on this place! Was able to finally kick my craving and opted for the closest option to me and it absolutely did not disappoint. I ordered the butter chicken medium and the veggie samosas with plain naan. Every single bite had incredible flavor. And the amount of spice and heat from the butter chicken was perfection. Delicious, the best Indian place in town now! The amount of fragrant spice and flavors in each dish are aplenty! I've tried the tikka masala and butter chicken and prefer the butter chicken. So many Indian places overcook their chicken, but theirs is tender. I also love their butter naan, spinach paneer, veggie samosas with their delicious dipping sauces, and yellow dal tadka, everything is bursting with spice. I typically order 3 for spicy, I've eaten in, food does take time but is so worth it, and larger portions are given in the restaurant than when ordered through uber eats. Service is good and there is plenty of seating. We love to order the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Tikka Masala with the Cheese Kulcha. I regret not taking a picture! We were nervous to try a new Indian food spot in El Paso. A couple of the new spots fell flat for us. Not Tandoor and Curry!! The food was incredible. Dare I say that this place tops the list of Indian food in El Paso. My Chicken Vindaloo was fresh, spicy and plentiful! My boyfriend's butter chicken was hearty and divine! I really liked the food, but the prices are shockingly high for the portion sizes, especially since it's not a fancy restaurant. It's better than the other Indian restaurants nearby, so if prices were better, I'd likely go 2-4 times per month. But $15 for a small takeout container, it'll just be a splurge once in a great while instead. Also an FYI, mild is extremely mild with zero spice, so if you're used to good Indian restaurants in other cities, this place's medium is probably closer to the mild you're used to at other places. read more

It's a clone of India Hut 100%. Gol gappa was excellent, no chai on the menu despite others being served, chicken saag was very disappointing, dal makhani was spiced really oddly and not good. Maybe it's a regional difference since restaurant is Indian/Pakistani, but seemed to be missing the cardamom (green and black) cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Instead, it was just hot and bland. Portion sizes fine, and the kulcha was really quite excellent. I'll give them a few more chances, but this wasn't a good 1sr experience. read more

Great Food and very interesting food to say the least. The pita bread is out of this world

One of the few places in El Paso to get good Indian food. We tried their butter chicken and lamb tikka masala at medium spice, which were both flavorful and generous enough in portions to leave our party filled. Their mango lassi is also a good deal at $3 ish which is served in a large glass. I hope they can get more servers though considering only one person has to wait the entire restaurant, making the service a tad slower. Despite this the service was still good. In terms of the interior, it was quite barren. However, considering the fact that it just recently opened, this is a minor point. As a suggestion, playing some low level background music would go a long way to fill the large space. Overall a great find and would go back again! read more
