This was my first time back to India Darbar in eight years. My first time here wasn't that great of an experience and I felt it was time to give this place another try. I'm glad that I did! I ordered the chicken Makhani with basmati rice and Darbar special naan. Everything was delicious! I went with medium Makhani this time; so much more flavor than the mild that I had last time I was here. The chicken and sauce were cooked perfectly! The special naan was also very good; White Bread stuffed with Onions, Potatoes, Cheese and Baked in Tandoor! My experience this time was wonderful! I look forward to returning and trying some of their other dishes!

A-ma-zing food. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken and Mushroom, and Lamb Vindaloo... with garlic naan and a mango lassi. The flavors were amazing! The chicken was fork tender. The garlic naan was huge; bigger than a dinner plate. Called and order food to go - wish there was online ordering, but not a big deal. When you call, they do give you the option of spicy, a little spicy, or mild food. *sorry for the low quality cell phone photo.

HALF eaten Chicken 65 mixed with rice

So up front I should share two things. 1. I went for indian today to try to drain my sinuses, as I've been battling some drainage issues leading to a sore throat. 2. A server at a different restaurant actually recommended I come here. On to my thoughts: It's a small little place: casual. I came in during buffet hours, picked a plate: then last minute decided to just order from the menu (you can almost never get stuff off the buffet that's very spicy). I ended up ordering my usual meal accompaniment: vegetable samosa and a mango lassi. For an entree I got the Chicken 65 (I realized a unique dish makes it hard to compare a place to competition shortly after ordering). The food: the food was quite good. The samosa was served hot and was as samosa should be. Bonus points for having red/onion chutney (I've had a hard time finding that recently). The entree was quite good as well. I personally would have preferred a little more heat. With only choices of "mild, medium, spicy" I wasn't sure I could handle the full heat. The chicken was quite flavorful, no doubt because it was fried. I believe the entree came with naan (didn't cost extra which is a nice little bonus. The naan seemed to have oil on top though, and the consistency wasn't quite right. Either it didn't bake long enough or they aren't baking their naan (which makes me sad). I did have one major issue come up: when being seated: the server brought a plate (possibly the one I handed him when I changed my mind at the buffet) to put my samosa on. He wiped the pate with his hand, realized his mistake, switched to a napkin to finish wiping it, and then put it in front of me. As someone battling some level of illness I took notice of this. Outside of probably violating health code, I want to remain healthy. My solution?: I ate my samosa off of the appetizer plate, then grabbed a fresh plate from the buffet while he was in the back at some point after I realized that there wasn't an additional plate coming with the course. I went back and forth between 3 and 4 and settled on four because the food was good. Overall not bad, and good prices. There's nothing keeping me from coming back, but there's a place closer to me that I think I like just a little more.

Basmati rice, madras curry, lamb curry, samosa

Very good! Samosas came out fresh and the lamb is cooked really well. The naan bread is also yummy and fresh. Prices are super reasonable

First time went there. Food was Ok. Service wasn't good. Took almost 1 Hr to get our foods. We were the 2nd customer when it open at 5pm. Server was busy wasn't refilling my water. About 3 group that came in and we were the only customer that dined in. He was rude and turn them away by saying he has a lot of take out orders and they can sit but now sure how long they will get their foods. That was bad service on his part. We had to go find Togo box by the front and pack our foods. Probably will never go back.

The food and service were both good. The naan was definitely some of the better naan that I've had- it was soft, fluffy, and tasted amazing.

Food is excellent but understaffed. Suggest a smaller menu options for busy times- like Sunday lunch and/or bring back the buffet

The menu doesn't have descriptions, but the host will describe any food to you. We Googled most food because we were not as used to Southern Indian food. Before getting into details, this place really knows how to cook food well. Fried foods are perfectly cooked and not dripping oil... it was almost as if they used an air fryer. Spices are somehow permeating the food and yet you can still recognize individual spice flavors. Be aware that they use paper plates and plastic tableware. Since you're not cutting into meat, the plastic ware is useable. We got the following: Mango lassi - mango and yogurt drink and I detected a bit of cardamom. They were on par with most Indian restaurants. Limca - lemon lime soda. Tasted like 7up. Samosa - Pastry pockets came with a spicy sauce like a Sirracha ketchup, perfectly fried, no oil saturation. Potato and spice stuffing was fresh and had a great texture. Palak Vada - like a savory spinach donut, excellent fresh roasted spice flavors, perfectly fried, no oil saturation. The texture had crunchy bits on the outer crust and an inside like cornbread. Spices were amazing! Dipping sauce was a peanut chutney with fennel. Paneer Masala Dosa - crepe-like pancake with fresh farmer's cheese bits and a masala curry. It also came with peanut chutney and sambar. Dosas are made from fermented ground lentils and rice batter. They taste a bit like a crepe with the slight taste of a fresh cheese that has been fried. Butter Dosa - this was very similar to the Paneer Masala Dosa but the ingredients spread on the inside were like a mild, buttery curry paste. Butter Masala Dosa - this tasted very similar to the Butter Dosa. Sambar with White Rice - you pour the soup over the rice and it ends up being like a red curry dish with veggies. Served with a papadum, which is thin cracker that tastes like a saltine. Lemon rice - not very lemony but looked like a fried rice and tasted like a jasmine and yellow curry rice.

Bits of egg plant, beautiful spice in creamy coconut milk. This is best Indian food I've ever had. Truly authentic in a super clean restaurant. I couldn't believe how flavorful this dish was. The combination was very refreshing and delicious, revitalizing even. We then ordered our own dishes and sampled from each other. We also tried medium heat which turned out to be really good, adding to our experience. The restaurant was decorated to celebrate Valentine's Day and it was quite lovely. The gentlemen here were, as always, very kind and inviting. While we dined, I listened to them talk to customers and I was touched by how much care is put into each conversation. The sincerity of the men here is also what makes this a great restaurant. They get to know their customers, they share with them in their experience of top quality, handcrafted dishes.
