The three things I look for in a sneaker shop are: Inventory, Fair Pricing, and Friendly Staff. INDEX has all that in spades. I had been looking for a specific pair(which they had multiples of) and was able to trade in some existing sneakers in my collection at a fair market price to knock down some of the price. All of this was supported by a staff that was passionate, knowledgeable, and a joy to work with during the transaction. Stopped by this store last month since my wife and I were staying in the downtown area. As an out of Towner looking for good shoe stores to stop by, Index was recommended by a few locals. There were a few other stores around the area but Index was the best one to go to in my opinion. The staff at the store was pretty chill and nice. Prices are a bit on the high side but that's expected from a consignment sneaker shop since the price is driven by market. Unfortunately I was not able to buy a shoe since the ones I wanted were either sold, they did not have my size, or they could not find although it's listed on the website. A few weeks later I did see a pair of off white dunks in my size which I immediately copped. Not knowing what their process was, I received a cancellation notice the following day which made me confused, a tad bit irritated and disappointed. After back and forth emails and trying to get someone to respond, Index made it right and Mikey gave me a chance to purchase the shoes through PayPal which was cool. I received the shoes this past week and it was way more than what I expected for it to be with the condition and price. Thanks index and Mikey! I did eventually buy a pair of raging bull 5's a few days later after my purchase to find out my order was cancelled since it sold earlier that day. Other than this mishap my only suggestion would be to update the website daily. Other than that I will continue to buy shoes from index if I happen to come across a deal on a shoe that's my size. I was the only customer; staff waved their hand in a general direction of a small selection of women's sneakers while they continued to use their cell. There was no signage and all the shoes were encased in airtight plastic so it was impossible to search for anything. Arch support is critical: I have to be able to look inside the shoes. Without plastic covers I probably could have found something in my size (men's or women's sizing) but I was obviously not welcome. read more

Oregon is a growing city and it's always nice to add hidden gems like this. For true sneakerheads, it's rare to find shoes nowadays unless you know somebody or have a plug. Usually this is the place to go to now in Portland if you need some of those shoes. Staff is usually friendly and attentive but the one thing that annoys me sometimes is that if you frequently go sometimes they go on their own schedule. They'll just randomly go out on lunch or break or just not work that day. This place has majority of the shoe needs you are looking for. Sometimes size isn't as versatile as other bigger consignment stores but it usually has a good amount for majority of the shoes there. Yes it's obviously expensive. It's how consignment is. Don't have expectations to find cheap shoes since majority of the shoes here are expensive because of simple supply/demand. The only knock on this place is the location. It's mainly on the dirty side of downtown China Town. Once you find it squeezed between a couple of stores, there's usually a plethora of bugs within the store as they usually leave the store door open. This place is pretty dope. I'm not a shoe fan but my beloved boyfriend is. We came from the Bay Area (San Francisco) to this specific shoe store for a pair of Yeezy's. My boyfriends face lit up the minute the guy came out with these shoes, (I have never seen him look at me that way) .... so, he tried them on and knew he wasn't about to leave this store without purchasing them. The overall experience was attentive and they definitely have some of the craziest shoes I have never even seen in my life! Went here while on vacation California and this was a great shop. Was able to pick up a pair of Nike Presto Mid Acronym for a great price and we very happy with my purchase. Great shoe collection with both affordable shoes but also holy grails and some major heat. Friendly staff and they actually ship outside of Oregon which I thought was great! The store is really clean and pretty well stocked (aka they had a pair of shoes I've been looking for, but half size small). Cam helped us out with our transaction and Mike was great as well. Really friendly, he managed to greet everyone and assist while leaving us to browse and make our selection without any pressure. Albeit little experience on my end, I much prefer them here than flight club in NYC. Biggest surprise, the bf scored a pair of Adidas boosts that we had not seen before. Then got an email saying my order was cancelled, so I called in to ask why and the gentleman helping me was very clear and thorough, and showed me how to reorder so that the transaction would go through. They have terrible customer service. No one looks at you and says what's up, everyone in the back it playing around, people seem to not care at all. But I do like the shoes that they sell but some of it is just way over priced ex. The zebras in one website is 600 max. At index it's 1000 dollars, same size same everything, nothing is different. I think that it's ridiculous how they try to do that but oh well. I still think they do have a good set up and affordable price range on certain shoes.
