A group of friends and I have been meeting regularly outdoors for picnic lunches and dinners throughout the pandemic. We try and visit a new park each time, and we always bring our own picnic blankets or chairs so that we can spread out in a large circle and all stay at least 6 feet apart. Hunt Park was where we had one of our more recent dinners, and it was a delightful surprise for most of us. We found a corner of the park, and after parking our cars, we all spread out and pulled out our respective picnic dinners. As we visited, there was a pleasant background din of neighborhood life, and the gleeful shouts of kids on the playground in the distance. The weather was perfect, and we couldn't have asked for a better park or evening for the picnic dinner. Take a bit of time to discover a new favorite place in A2 and swing by Hunt Park!

It is well kept, has a great "little kid" playground which we used and some big fields where this time, there was what looked like a pick up soccer game. There are also bathrooms. At this time of year, it was lushly green and well maintained. I have no idea how crowded it might get on a summer weekend as I have never visited it then but it is large enough for many groups doing different activities. I did not look for any parking lots as we were walking and the perimeter streets across the park were literally too far away to see.

One of the best parts? It's located right by the water, so even on hot days there's always a nice breeze to keep things cool. Plus, it's just steps away from the library--super convenient! This past weekend, we attended the Bash at Bishop, which they host every year, and we had an absolute blast. It was the perfect way to kick off summer with bouncy houses, face painting, balloon animals, fun games, hot dogs, snow cones, and cotton candy galore! My little ones were especially excited to check out the fire truck, ambulance, and police car and even a race car! They couldn't stop smiling. There were also prize giveaways, live music, and a band playing to bring the whole community together. And the best part? It's all FREE. Just an incredible event at a park that already checks all the boxes for our family. Even without the event, Bishop Park is a gem we visit regularly. Can't recommend it enough for families looking for a fun, clean, and scenic place to spend the day.

In the fall, there is Scarecrows in the Park. In the winter, holiday decorations and the tree lighting display go up. There are always festivals in downtown Plymouth every season that run through Kellogg Park. There is the Ice Festival, Holiday Market, Michigan's 2nd largest art fair called Art in the Park, the Plymouth Fall Festival, Spring Artisan Market, and many more events. Plymouth outbeats other upscale suburban metro Detroit cities for fun activities due to the sheer number of festivals happening year-round in and around Kellogg Park and downtown. As much as I love the festivals and markets, Kellogg Park is very small and surrounded by parking and traffic. It's the kind of park for a stroll, not a place where you can do more than that for exercise, which is unfortunate. It would be nice to have more walking paths and exercise areas in Plymouth, but it's too small as it is.

They were not tip-top shape and I do believe I received a splinter in my leg from getting up too fast. Some things I feel they could do to improve upon the field: - put a fence or something in the back of right field because apparently our ump did not feel that landing and then bouncing over and down the hill does not constitute a ground rule double. -secondly, the parking is skimpy as the itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini-- and boys, not in a good way-- if it's all filled where the heck are you supposed to park??
