Each physical therapy session started with heat, then a massage followed by neck stretches and eventually resistance bands to help build strength. I was also shown some neck stretches I could do at home. After three weeks I'm not back to 100%, but I am 90% better. My consult was at the San Marco location, but my PT is closer to home at the Point Meadows location- almost across the street from Ikea. It's a medical office complex with various doctor offices. JOI PT is on the end closest to the entrance. With Covid precautions- they send you a text reminder and you can reply "HERE" when you arrive and they will message you back to enter- although I will go in if it's my appointment time. I usually arrive early. You can also pay ahead of time on their website or in office. Whichever you prefer. My first visit to this office had me joking with the receptionist about new duties to add to our resumes- Pandemic preparedness, Sanitizing expert... the jokes just kept rolling. very laid back environment. I'm always happy when I find a business with happy employees~ it speaks volumes about service and about how the employees are treated. Off to my therapist- Fidal- who is awesome. The first visit was so light duty- I thought, I can handle this- no problem. HA! Round two was an upgrade and each visit is a bit harder. I tend to over do it- always, that's my personality- so I end up more sore than I probably should be. Fidal could tell, even though I have a mask covering my facial expressions- just the pressure on my muscles screams that I am uncomfortable. He could feel it- the first time he worked on my neck and shoulder I didn't even realize how much I was resisting his pressure until he got up to help another patient. I relaxed as soon as he let go and mentally reprimanded myself to relax and allow his help- he's applying pressure for a reason. It's a good hurt. I leave every visit now with my shoulder burning- having worked it a little more each time. I was having a hard time remembering his name, so I looked him up on the company website and learned he's quite a daredevil! Just makes him more cool. He has a very soothing energy about him and his dedication to his work is very evident. I explained my pain symptoms and he said he figured I had numerous discs bulging and/or hemorrhaged. His educated guess was L3 through S1 and he was dead on the money. Treatments unfortunately only helped me for about a day or two- but since it is severe, I will take the temporary relief over no relief. Staff is always friendly and next week I might try acupuncture with him. I've done acupuncture before and had great results, so I am more than willing to try everything!
