They say this was posted but I certainly wasn't too that and there are so many posters and signs all over it doesn't surprise me that I missed it. When I called to find out what my options were the guy just kept telling me to come in and if it was damaged they would give me a new one, I said I wasn't sure I wanted to go through the bother of coming back (it's not that near me) in order to get another one that would probably be faulty too. I stopped by and waited a short time to speak to an associate. The store itself looks sparsely stocked, but I'll wager that there are shelves and racks of goods behind the storefront. The helpful person at GopherMods looked over the phone, gave me an estimate and added that I'd likely be replacing my screen as a result of the work. The quote I received was reasonable, but exceeded the value of the phone. Of course, the phone was paid off about a month before it started acting up! By this point, I was upset so I just told him to get it fixed and I went back to wait in my car. About 20 minutes later he came out to my car. I had my window down from smoking a cigarette and he hands me my phone and said, "it's fixed." I tell him to wait while I examine my phone and of course, nothing worked. I hand him the phone again and he went back inside. 30 minutes later he comes out and tells me he needs more time to fix my phone and asked me to return tomorrow afternoon. I said no, just give me my phone and I'll take it somewhere else. He pleaded with me and said his manager was on his way over to help him fix my phone and promised me that the phone would be fixed by 7:30 PM the latest. BIG MISTAKE! I arrived back at the shop at 7:25. As I entered the store i can see that the manager has another phone screen attached to my red iPhone. He tells me that the home button is broken and they are attempting to somehow install the digital home screen button on my phone. Confused and at a lost for words, I asked why are you doing that? Just fix it. The manager, a Nigerian dude proceeded to tell me he cannot fix the broken home button that I broke and I stopped him and told him, No. My phone was working just fine when I brought it in. I told him to put my phone back together and return my money. He got aggressive and said I was not getting a refund after all the time they spent on my phone. I laughted and told him he was crazy because I brought in a working phone and i am not leaving with a broken phone. He then got out from behind the service stand and tried to fight me. I didn't have any way to call for help so I went outside and stopped a lady walking by to call the police for me and the manager ran up and locked the doors. With all the ICE protesting happening, the police never showed up so I drove to the police station and filed a theft report. See you in court.

A while back, I contacted Chipheads for a comparison quote on the replacement of a laptop keyboard and frame after a water spill fried a touchpad. The first place I had visited for a quote was a lovely one-man shop that quoted me $300 minimum for the repair - and that was with full awareness that I'd already purchased my own replacement parts and therefore all cost on his part was purely labor. He also communicated clearly that accessing the keyboard area required moving multiple parts he was not entirely familiar with and laughed that he would have to give me the $2000+ laptop he'd tried to sell me if the repair didn't go well. I left the establishment unconvinced of his capability to fix my also $2000+ design powerhouse that had not left my side since I got her. Enter Chipheads. I contacted via the general email address on the website, outlining the general situation and requesting a quote. Chipheads teammate Scott responded, and the quote he gave was comparable. I then emailed to confirm that I'd ordered the right parts before making the decision to put my laptop basically in the hospital right before I was going to be gone for a full two weeks, so I wouldn't be able to get her back even if the parts were wrong and repairs could not be done. Scott never responded to that email, and I had to leave for my out-of-town event. When I'm home, I rely on my laptop heavily, so dropping off when I'm not occupied with an event is not ideal. When another long event came up on my schedule, I contacted Chipheads again, this time creating a new email thread directing back to the general email address - the previous thread had directed to Scott's email address after we connected. I admit that I was hoping that I would connect with Jarret this time, and I did. He responded not only quickly but also giving me the option of a two-week repair period for less than $200. I'd be occupied with my event for exactly that amount of time anyway, so this was perfect. When I arrived the day before my event started, Jarret was with another guest. Both the impression that the first shop had given me about the delicate nature of my repair and my own experience in tinkering with laptops and electronics in general added to why I specifically waited to speak directly with Jarret given the impression of reliability he gave me in our correspondence. I dropped my laptop off with Jarret the day before my event started. Less than 48 hours later, he called to let me know that my laptop was ready for pickup. That was back in August. I specifically waited to ensure that the laptop was in perfect working order before leaving a review. It's now October. Safe to say, my laptop is in good health. Dropping one star for Scott dropping the ball on communication. Regardless, I'd wholeheartedly recommend Chipheads for your repair and upgrade needs.
