The books inside are individually priced, while the books outside are discounted to 10 or 25 cents based on which side it is on. I could have spent hours there. Overall, perfect first visit and I look forward to returning!

I found the Cocoon Gallery on Yelp, which far exceeded my expectations. First, the historic town of Apwx, NC, is picturesque and charming. My only regret in stopping here is that we arrived after some of the other wonderful shops had closed for the evening. We will definitely be back! The Cocoon Gallery has a terrific selection of pottery, handbags, and jewelry, and the woman who helped us was friendly and welcoming. After debating over several gorgeous and affordable pieces, I ended up purchasing a long pair of dangling earrings made of brass and sterling. They are so prettt and lightweight, I cannot wait to wear them. I highly recommend that you visit the Cocoon Gallery, whether it's a special gift you need or a small indulgence for yourself. Just make sure you allow enough time to walk the street and visit the other shops too.

I wish there was more Russian literature; if they stock more of it, they will have a very loyal costumer. Lovely staff, huge selection of contemporary fiction. That is most of their stock, it seems. Beware: you will definitely come out of here with more than one book so make some room on your bookshelf.

The first time I came I just looked around for a while and talked to the owner. He picks most of their merchandise personally and knows the artists and craftspeople. Really interesting guy! I knew that I could get a one-of-a-kind present for my sister here. I ended up coming back and getting up something for her--and for me! Some of the stuff you'd definitely have to "invest" in, but for what you're getting it's a good price. (I bought a silver ring for me $45 and incense and a burner for my sister for $35). I would come back here for Christmas to shop. (On a side note, Raleigh, the cosmopolitan town that it is, has two Tibetan stores. I much prefer this one. You can see my other review...)
