I have had 4 floors put in by this company. The problem starts with I can't get a hold of anyone in the repair dept. My one plank, the top flooring has ripped off. I have emailed them 3 times & gotten responses back once from an AI. I called the company & was rudely told they don't handle repairs, corporate office does. Everything they promised did not happen. We had carpet installed and they said they were going to fix all the creaks in the floor boards. It's a simple process of tightening or putting in a screw. Which they did not have any and asked my husband for them. They asked me for trash bags. The company doesn't provide them with these items ??? They came in a two story house and shoved all the furniture in the kitchen and blocked all passsages for 11 hours. The customer service never answered our calls until it was time to pay. I have asked them repeatedly to stop calling me and remove my contact information from their database. Today when they called, I asked to speak with a supervisor, of course they refused my request and hung up me. Below is the original review. At home alone. I had an installation scheduled for today. When they came out, I was told that I needed other work/materials to complete the project. However, we could not agree on pricing. I thought we were done with each other but a couple of hours later the sales manager, Matthew and another guy shows up at my home to discuss moving forward with the project. I let them in to talk about it. However, the conversation did not go well at all. I asked him no less than 10 times to leave and he absolutely refused to leave. They lie to home owners about material they are using, they don't care about satisfaction of home owners they only care about that you make your payment or get approved for financing. Found them through Angi. Scheduled an in-home consultation to get a quote. Appointment was scheduled for 6pm. No one showed up, so I called at 6:30 for an update. They said the flooring specialist was in a minor fender bender and would be pulling up within the next 5 minutes. Waited until 7:15 and still no one arrived. Despite having my contact information and them calling me directly to originally schedule the appointment, I didn't receive a single call or email while waiting for the consultation. The salesman and workers were great (we had our kitchen floor retiled). But a year later we noticed a tile was loose & 2 others were scratched. I called & Nick checked it out & said we'd get a call to schedule the repair. No call. When I called them I was either put on hold or disconnected or I left a message to have Patrick, the scheduler, call me back. No call back. This happened all again a few weeks later when I followed up & James checked our floor. Also there were times when someone was supposed to show up & didn't. Turned form in on the 7th at 12:15 pm and the i had to tell the guy what the form was and he told me i was doing them a favor and they under quoted and were going to call and cancel anyways. Where to start - they were late, took 2 days longer than originally stated, damaged my custom front door (still trying to get this repaired), left a thick layer of dust on every surface of my home because they didn't cover the doorways when they were sanding as I requested, stain on my baseboards, much of the wood filler that I paid extra for is coming out and it's been less than 6 months. It's excuse after excuse and NO follow-up unless I initiate or threaten litigation. Save yourself time and aggravation and choose a different contractor! Looks like we're headed to court. read more

I have never worked with a company where one of their subcontractors shows up at my house UNEXPECTEDLY at 8:30 pm to get equipment he left here. After two no call, no shows. Dropping an employee off at my house and not coming back to get him until 9:30 pm. Didn't put any plastic up so my whole house is covered in sawdust. If I could give this company a minus rating it still would not be low enough. my home looked like an on going construction site when they were done, never even cleaned the floors when the job was done, so called done. The work that was done was a complete mess, glue, caulk and dirt thought the house. Nothing was covered to try to keep things some what clean. Moldings were pre finished and installed and were chipped with nails sticking out, looked like a kid put them in. They do not stand by their so called "Guarantee" because they will not fix their mistakes and say its a "Structural Defect" !!! My experience with In and Out Floor This all started with a Facebook ad that I saw on Oct 20 2023 posted by In and Out Floors about 'Enter for a chance to win up to $5,000 towards your floor'. My project was to have carpets removed and the original wood floor refinished. I clicked the link and filled out the FB form. Almost immediately I got a phone call from them asking for a no pressure sales pitch. A salesperson called Tim Kolasa came over the next day. His original quote was $8,000+ (if I remember correctly). After a lot of talks and texts and me getting a quote from another company to compare, they eventually came down to $4,500.I even felt bad about negotiating down to such a 'low' price. I asked Tim if he would still get enough commissions from my project. Later, when the issues below happened and I texted Tim initially, he didn't even bother to respond. Things that Tim told me: 1. They will do three coatings. 2. I'll have life-time warrantee. If I have any issues, just call. 3. They will start my project within a week - meaning in Oct 2023. 4. They will have a team of people coming over and finishing it in a couple of days. He said, 'that's why we're called In and Out'. Later the scheduling guy called and told me they scheduled me on Nov 6 or 13. I told him this wasn't what Tim said, but I accepted it. On the scheduled day, no one showed up. I called their office. Apparently, my project wasn't even on their list. They then put me on Monday Nov 27. Nov 27 came. One person (Leland) showed up. I was like.....are you gonna be In and Out? I contacted the manager Jeff Cramer. He said Tim was incorrect (lying?), and they only had one person for my project. I once again accepted it. On Dec 5 (the 7th day of my project), Leland came and told me this was the last day. It didn't look to me he could finish it on that day, but I decided to trust him. I could tell he was in a rush the whole day. At 4:30, he told me he had to turn in my paper to the office by 5pm. Otherwise he wouldn't get paid. He said he would come back later to finish the quarter round on the bottom step and paint my walls. I did not want him not to get paid and I trusted him, so I signed the paper and let him go. I even gave him a biiiig tip, and he was shocked. The issues I found later (besides the project was not finished): 1. All the stair quarter rounds were installed on top of nails and staples. There were big gaps between the quarter rounds and the risers. 2. There were floor stains all over my walls/stair risers throughout the house. I wasn't even going to mention this since Leland was coming back to paint my walls. 3. All my closet doors weren't put back. Until this day they're still in my garage. Again, I wasn't even going to mention this since he was going to paint my walls. 2024 came. I waited for a few days, but Leland didn't contact me. * On Jan 6 (a month later), I finally texted him. No response. * On Jan 8, I texted him again. No response. I then texted Jeff. * On Jan 11, I texted Jeff again. Leland then texted me he would come over that night. At 5:44pm, Leland texted he wouldn't be able to make it and would come the next day. * On Jan 12, Leland didn't show or text. * On Jan 15, Leland texted he would come in the afternoon. Then, no show or text again. * On Feb 2, I texted Leland. He said he would come on Feb 5. * On Feb 5, Leland didn't show. I texted him. He texted he would come the next day. * On Feb 6 (2 months later), Leland finally came. After he left, I found he didn't remove those nails/staples. I texted him. No response. * On Feb 9, I texted Jeff the manager. * On Feb 12, I texted Jeff again. * On Feb 19, Donald came to my place, removed dozens of nails and staples. * On Feb 19, while I was showing Donald issues, I noticed that 1) some quarter rounds weren't cut properly and 2) one step wasn't stained properly - because Leland was in a rush. So, I texted Jeff. Remember they promised to do three coatings? With three coatings, the step still looks like that? (picture attached) * On Feb 21, I texted Jeff again. * On Feb 22, Jeff called and told me that I signed the paper, my project was done, and there's nothing they would do for me anymore. I told him I only signed the paper so that Leland could get paid. He kept saying 'sorry. You signed the paper'. Then I said what about the life-time warrantee that Tim promised. He couldn't comment on that and only kept saying 'you signed the paper and we're done'. He even blamed me dragging things on the stairs and that caused the strain coming off. I said how come other steps are ok if I dragged stuff. Besides, if the stain could come off so easily after three coatings, what does this say about their quality? This whole ordeal all started with the ad this company posted on FB. Has this company ever made the draw? Has anyone won the $5,000? I haven't seen anywhere. Very happy with the professional service the team did installing the carpet in our living room, stairs and bedroom. When finished they replaced the furniture, cleaned up and even hauled away the old carpet. "B" and the guys did an excellent job from start to finish. False advertising and incredibly poor-quality company. Save yourself some time and misery and choose another flooring contractor or learn more about the project and do it yourself. We felt beyond betrayed, not only by the quality of their work but that they will come into your home and attempt to connect with you only to hide behind their loosely worded service agreement and contract language. Not only is the project itself low quality, but they will not bear any responsibility for the state of your home post-project. Our home was covered in cement dust because they demo with no tarps or any mess saving materials. This led to much of our 5-month-old infants stuff being covered by debris and dust. Our house looked like an open construction site after installation. Be sure to read all of the contract before signing, and DO NOT take any verbal commitments from them as true. Be prepared to take photos at every step of the process to cover yourself in the event of poor quality installation. From the outset, we experience issues. Our salesperson Bernadette fundamentally mislead us on the quality of labor and material being sold, including: 1. That their flooring is proprietary, and they cannot share the brand name (Its Cali, its on the box the installers bring to your house. I'm not sure how that was proprietary if I can source it from a bulk flooring supplier) 2. That their installers were in-house and not subcontracted - The guy who installed our floor told us he works with In and Out all the time... as a subcontractor. 3. That the installers complete removal and leveling before installation. No leveling was done with the initial installation. After installation, Jeff the general manager, told us 1 bag of leveling compound is included, but not the labor of leveling. He repeated many times that it "wasn't on the contract". 4. She showed us samples of a very thick high end vinyl floor ("Smart Choice) which we picked out. At install they brought a VERY CHEAP and thin vinyl floor and said this is what they quoted. They honor the name of the color you select, not the overall thickness or durability of material. On the day of installation their team (Besardi and his assistant) came into our home, began demolition, and used an electric chisel on our concrete subfloor creating a myriad of chips and cracks and then laid the vinyl without any preparation work including leveling. This led to approximately 50 square feet of warping and unlevel vinyl flooring. When my wife called to complain and request service, Jeff (the general manager) was condescending, argumentative and disrespectful. His tune changed when I called, which may suggest he does not like to work with women. Jeff had a seemingly prepared script when it came to contract language and attorney fees, which he brought up at the first hint of an issue. It was only after threatening a complaint to the Michigan Attorney General's office and to seek resolution through the Better Business Bureau that he was interested in helping resolve our issue. Jeff had tried to say that leveling material was included in the project price, but that the service itself was not. Why include material in the quote if they do not anticipate using it at all? He promised me a call back at 5pm (their closing time) and I ensured him I would call back at 2pm for a resolution. The next day, when the installer arrived to assess the poor work, we were fed excuse after excuse about the state of the floor. That the molding is wrong, and that new molding will fix it, that the vinyl doesn't always sit right, and that some separating and warping is normal. All of which were absurd. When the installer returned to complete the work we chose to remain in the same room for the duration of his visit to ensure that it was done correctly. Had we not been there for real-time inspection, I think our experience would have been a repeat of the first visit. At the 2nd install, he removed only half the flooring laid leveling compound and re-laid the floor. Some spots that were still unlevel he put cardboard underneath the floor and/or glued it to the ground so it would not bubble. We told him to not install molding as we did not want him putting more nails in our walls. A third installer to put molding up and be done with the job. We refused molding work and showed the installer our examples of a bubbled floor. The installer said he would come back to remove the floor, re-level the subfloor, fix the broken pieces and fix the job. At the 3rd visit, the new installer essentially ignored many of our complaints about the bubbling floor, did not to remove all affected areas, and left our transition pieces loose. We refuse to repeat this whole ordeal and called it quits on complaining given that In and Out is uninterested in doing quality work or taking responsibility. read more

Hired to do a refinishing job. I contacted the company 1 day after floors were completed in regards to touch ups needed. I was questioned, why I didn't see this right away, before the crew left. Which was impossible as I could not walk on floors for rest of evening. Several spots were not sanded properly, buff like wheel marks all over, the hallway is absolutely tore up looking, especially when natural light hits it. Another area a nice size chuck of wood missing. I did find it odd I was advised to give a 5 star rating before the job was completed. Still have not heard back in regards to touch ups. Some areas turned out nice. This isn't good workmanship. At this point I definitely would NOT recommend. read more

Of all the companies/contractors we've hired over the years, this company is the worst! They don't show up to perform the work you hired them for on any of the dates they select; when you continually attempt to contact them about a possible work schedule date and time they never return any of your phone calls; when they do finally contact you and actually commit to and show up on a particular date, the work they perform is the worst you could ever imagine! We were only looking to have our kitchen and dining room floors sanded and refinished. After weeks of delays and phone calls with our kitchen and dining room empty of all furnishings and utility doors, we eventually ended up with a husband and wife team who functioned as though this was their first rodeo working on wood floors. Their work was atrocious: they broke some of our wood trim moldings trying to remove them during prep, marked up some of our walls and other trim in the process of sanding the floors, got stain on things and in places it didn't belong, put down only one coat of "Matte" finish Polyurethane (it was supposed to be two coats of Satin), didn't finish putting down or replacing the moldings they tore up, and ultimately just did a lousy job of prepping, staining, and refinishing our floors. DO NOT, I repeat "Do Not" hire this company to perform any work on your home. If you decide to disregard this warning, please at least read their contract (something unfortunately we failed to do), and see if you don't change your mind! read more

SCAM ALERT - THEY DID NOT DISCLOSE I WAS SIGNING A CONTRACT. Manager in the installation dept to schedule was COMPLETELY rude. He told me I signed a contract, and kept interrupting me about how I signed a contract and that they will bill me for the cancel fee. I was never told or shown the contract as the salesrep zoomed in on the document which i thought was the application to run credit for financing. He also never disclosed that there was a rescission period. Meanwhile, I signed the contract and didn't even get a copy of it until I called several times asking for the ESTIMATE which he sent a signed contract to me 4 days later. I told the sales rep I wasn't doing anything until I spoke with my wife and got the other comparison quotes and he says "well you agree to the costs and information?" I said yeah, that looks good....NOT KNOWING HE WAS ASKING ME TO SIGN A CONTRACT! The installers were a little rude. My first review talked about what happened on that day. Now, my second review is about the marble table that they moved, cracked it, and now refuse to replace or fix it. Yes, the back of the contract does say not responsible for moving anything BUT I did tell the person, Lee, doing the contract that the table was heavy and would need 4-6 persons to move it! He said they could do it. On the day of installation only two small gentlemen appeared. I said to them that they needed more help to move the table and they moved it themselves, cracking it at one end. now the crack has traveled across the table and it is going to break in half! They sent someone out on 7/27/2023 to take pics, never called me back until I sent a request to the BBB. So, anything that they move to do a floor, carpet, etc. they are not responsible for any type of breakage. Seems a huge mistake to hire a company that can break/destroy some of your property and not be responsible for their actions! I have five rooms and stairs I had for them to do the day they were to get installed I was told the they could not do my stairs I then call Scott who is the owner of the company and was very rude to me and my husband they had to come out on day 2 to finish they were over 30 mins late on arrival then once they finished a room I was told they didn't have enough product to finish the last room so now we are one day 3 plus they don't know when they will be able to install the carpet on the stairs stairs. The molding they put with the floor does not match at all. I had my downstairs floors done by empire and lord knows that's were I should have went back to. I would not recommend in and out floors to anyone I'm spending over $9000 and I am very very unsatisfied!!!!! They don't even deserve the one star... Salesman was excellent! did his best to sell us the over priced flooring that the owner makes his salesman push. After expunging all efforts as I've been in the building trades for 30 years and just do not have the time to do this job he actually called his boss to ask him if there was anything he could do To satisfy me the customer. His response was basically "you must work for the customer not the company". The salesman did his best to be polite and not pushy with still firmly trying to get us convinced that both the company and the flooring was the best in the business. Excellent salesman, terrible, terrible management and ownership of this company. I specifically told the woman on the phone that set up the appointment that I wanted 12 foot roll out linoleum she even confirmed that and stated that was not a problem. I also asked her if they had any local salesman or installers in my area which was 2.5 hours away from their show room. The receptionist assured me on the phone that they would not be sending somebody that far. Once the salesman arrived he informed me that in no way do they carry or install linoleum and that he had to drive 2.5 hours away. That this dishonesty alone should tell you something about Mr. Trundle the owner of this company and how are you more than likely not only runs this business but runs his entire life. They didn't take the old carpet like the said they were. They also didn't install any edging between the tile and carpet like there was before their install. They promised to be out Monday between 11am an 1pm to take the old carpet and to install edging. I took time off of work because someone must be home.. in and out floors did not show up as scheduled. I called back again. They said they would be out Tuesday, more time off work burning my vacation time waiting on in an out floors to do what they were supposed to do from the beginning. The game they played with their pitch and price that is five times what it should cost. So when they give you this huge bargain to make you think your getting a great deal, but in reality your still paying double what it would cost going through other companies. Just like most of the other reviews about this company, we also feel that they are the worst company that we have ever dealt with hands down the absolute worst!!! Their salsman was the bigest lier that I have ever dealt with, almost everything he said was a lie. Their customer service department is a joke, the would just ignor our calls trying to talk to someone because they were 2 weeks late completing the job and during that time most of our calls went unanswered or ignored, when we did talk to someone they always said someone would call back which never happened. They refinished Hardwood Floors on the first floor of our new house, when the job was finished the color was not even close to the color listed on our contract, none of the corners were sanded, there are sections of the floor that feel like sandpaper, several of the areas have big drips of urithane, nicks and gouges in some areas, and in other sections there are obvious that they left the sander in one spot which leaves large blemishes. When we were able to get someone from the company out to look at the problems, the lyiing salesman even agreed that the color was way off but the managment refuses to fix or correct any of the problems. Fortunitly for us we only cave them a $500.00 deposit but they are sending their attorny after us for the additional $4100.00 that we would owe then if the job had been finished properly! read more

Do not use this company if you do (Read the Back of Contract) if they don't show up to do the job they will only give you back 20% of your deposit. The workers was suppose a my house at (9am -11am) no show and no call, I had to call them to see what happened. Yes, I had to call them, no call from them, when they finally called they wanted to show up at 3:00pm that day. I was not at home I wish I would have looked this company up before I decided to go with them. Read the back of the contract before you put a deposit on the work. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. They did not show up on the day they promised, and came four days after that. One person was there for 2 days and said he was "done" after that. I think I would know a finished floor when I see one. I think he just sanded and applied stain, but did not seal the floor. It was still rough to the touch, and I think it would be smooth after sealant. Two coats of sealant should have been applied per our contract. They scuffed every inch of our brand new baseboards, and did not fix cracks and holes as promised by the salesman that gave us the estimate. When we called to complain about the job, we had a horrible time getting someone on the phone. Everyone was "in a meeting". They called us back wanting to get paid for the job. Thank goodness we financed the job, and we had to sign off that the job was "complete" for them to get paid. They insisted that they were "done" and that two coats of sealant were applied. They did come come back and did a very poor job of painting the baseboard. They applied one coat of sealant, telling us that it was a "third" coat. We ended up painting the baseboards ourselves to make it look right. We then accepted the job, but they were all over us to sign off on the job saying it was "complete" so that they could get paid. They actually wanted us to sign off on the job before they would come to apply the "third" coat or sealant. The contract says at the top "do not sign until you are completely satisfied with the job". Absolutely horrible company. FALSE ADVERTISING PRESENTATION. They sent a salesman out to our house to give a full presentation of the equipment they use, and all the precautions they take to complete your job, they sent out a third-party that shows up with whatever materials and equipment they have, (Not what was shown that they use) they ruined other flooring in my house that was not being worked on and didn't care, the first crew that consisted of one man walked off the job four days later and a new crew was sent 7 days later to start over, my furniture was not covered and dust was caked everywhere. I had to rent a hotel room 3 times and the 3 day job took 15 days to complete. In their presentation they state they pay you $50 a day over the 3 days it will take to complete the job. I called and complained 8 times and only w as able to speak to the same 2 people. When the job was completed they called for payment and the project manager acted as if he didn't know of any problems. This is one of those that went very wrong and slightly right. After going through an annoying used car salesman pitch where they amazingly cut the price in half when we were going to say "no thanks" we signed a binding estimate with In and Out Floors. First, I want to make it clear that the installers were professional and efficient and did their job well. Not as much can be said for management. "Well he could've promised you a block of cheese but it wasn't in the paperwork." Yes, that came out of the installation manager's mouth on the phone. The issue was the person that estimated our job made a mistake and it was going to cost more money to remove ceramic tile from our floor (we were told just to leave it there). The installation manager called to explain the situation. My response was that it was the person that estimated the job's fault and not mine. After some back-and-forth, he told me that he has to "pay my guys" and then that "cheese" line was said when I told him about being told to leave the tile there. I then asked for the store manager. He brazenly said that was him. I then asked for the owner. He said it's owned by a "conglomerate." Yeah. Right. Know how much this argument was over? $71. That may seem petty on my end, but he argued excessively with a customer over it and now is receiving this review as a result. Don't use In And Out Floors. read more

I would rate them 0 stars if possible. This place is definitely not worth spending your money with. We had viny plank flooring put down with this company. They came took measurements and gave me an estimate. Once they returned to install I was informed that they wouldn't be able to do the stairthat I was promised they could do They then told me there would be an up charge ($75) per room because they need to move the furniture which was supposed to be included in the estimated price. I was put in contact with the owner. Before I could fully explain my issue he kept rudely interrupting me, he even began raising his voice at me claiming I was doing the same (which I wasn't). It was the worst customer experience I've ever had. I wish I would've never let them in my home. I spent around $10,000 to be mistreated. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy read more

VERY IMPORTANT! Please read this review in its ENTIRETY before deciding to use this company for flooring! I'll start from the beginning. My husband and I contacted this company as a second quote to have all the flooring in our home redone. The price they gave initially was extremely high compared to the other company. They were going to charge us roughly $5300 for vinyl flooring when we were going to have vinyl flooring and carpet put in our entire home for just $7650 with another company. They negotiated back and forth with the other company while at our home, to our surprise, and decided to match them...great right? We thought so too! That was 3/31/21. They came out 4/12/21 to do the vinyl flooring and the next day we noticed our glass/mirrored table that we paid $750 for had been CRACKED! The workers never mentioned it! There were coffee stains on the table as well (this is a table you wouldn't even want to touch if you saw how nice it was). They said they would replace it. We weren't happy but okay. Then they called to push out our carpet installation 2 weeks because they literally have ONE person in the company that can do carpet and he was injured. The carpet guy calls and says he needs to come out and RE-measure and mentioned that when he comes for the install he'll have help from someone that has NEVER DONE CARPET BEFORE. As customers who have already had damaged property by the company, had our install pushed out and had to let them come back to REDO measurements, this just didn't "feel" right to us so we contacted them. My husband asked the owner Scott what our options were if we wanted to just cancel the carpet install. To say we have never experienced such unprofessionalism is indeed an understatement!!! Scott said and I quote "You can't cancel, I will contact my lawyer and we'll see just how far your money can go! I'm sick of talking! I'm done!" I had to diffuse the situation because my husband was extremely upset after hearing that. I could not believe nor understand what would cause a business owner to react this way! So now there's a sour business relationship and we're stuck! Finally the week of April 26th we get a call that our carpet is in. The guys come to install 5/3/21 and they have the WRONG CARPET! It's the CHEAPEST, LOWEST grade carpet I have ever seen in my life! Wrong color, wrong grade...just wrong! Our family room floor is already torn up at this point and all of our furniture has been moved throughout the house by US to make it easy for them and now we have no carpet! They tell us another 3 months or we can cancel. NOW WE CAN CANCEL!?! I'm telling you....PLEASE BEWARE of this company! I can't stress it enough. There are enough descent and honest companies that you do not have to settle for them; especially when you work as hard as you do for the money you earn. read more

First scheduled sales call, salesman did not show up. Called the company 40 minutes later to complain and reschedule sales call. Second sales call, sales man shows up more than 4 hours late. Do not use this "company". Sales person, Colin, did everything he could do to rope us in. We fell for his sales pitch. The flooring is sub standard at best. When you walk on it you can feel it move. Two of our basement stairs were never glued down, which we didn't find out for a few days when we walked down the stairs and they slid out under our feet. When they were installing floor in front hall, they cut through our alarm wire, witch we are still trying to contact them about, no one returns our calls. So far the damage is $300.00, and counting. read more
