Dr. Bath is a crook. I am 38 years old and in my early 20s, Dr. Bath 'identified' 4-5 cavities. Two were filled on my next visit to his crown factory. I have been to four or five dentists across three different states. I've had proper dental benefits across cases. No other dentist has identified the same cavities; no other dentist has recommended crowns. All have agreed the guy who did was probably motivated more by financial gain than professional ethics. I discovered Impressions Dentistry while attending a dinner party well over 10 years ago. Some of my friends even drive down from Tacoma to see Dr. Bath. For me, I've had bad TMJ for years and going to the dentist usually resulted in needing to take days off work after due to the pain. Impressions Dentistry changed that with nitrous. I no longer fear going to the dentist and have had great experiences with all of the staff here. The employees obviously like their jobs - I've never had a bad experience. Every visit has been exceptional from the actual dental work by Dr. Bath and his assistants, to the front desk and billing department. (I was terrified after they told me at a cleaning that both teeth were near needing a root canal, so I gave in to the lesser crowns.) After having my last crown put on, and I left crying from the pain (I had even had a novocain injection) I haven't been back. Those crowns have given me nothing, but trouble since! I have been a patient at this practice since 2015. The work that this office does is acceptable for the most part. But they do try to up-sell and I suspect that over the time I have been with them they have gotten me to do dental work I didn't really need. Also one of the crowns they put in has never stopped hurting and I have to do all my chewing on the other side of my mouth. They have tried a couple times to fix this, but I am now convinced that I will have to live with this pain for the rest of my life. The crown that hurts is one of those procedures I suspect I didn't need but at the time I did not feel like it was necessary to get a second opinion so I guess I deserve what I got. Dr Bath had established a rapport. I did notice that he seems very attentive to you when you first sign on to his practice. As he earns your trust it seems like he backs away and lets his assistants do most of his work. One thing is for sure the business seems to be really doing well. I am just not convinced anymore that they have their patients best interests as their top priority. Another crown they installed came out only a few days after they put it in. They fixed that but still, it was an unpleasant experience. I think that maybe they were much better when they started out but lately they have gotten so big that they seem to have lost touch with their patients. Now they seem to be focused on doing as many high cost procedures as possible. I had an appointment for having the last molar in my mouth crowned. I am pretty certain that they have already put a crown on all the other ones over the last 4 years. Not sure if I needed this crown, but they sure seemed to think I did. At any rate morning of the appointment I woke up sick with a stomach virus wasn't able to make the appointment. I called to cancel, but apparently that was not good enough. Apparently you need to know 48 hours in advance when you are planning on coming down with a stomach bug in order to give them time to re-schedule. At any rate, they sent me a letter to say that it would be in my best interest to find a new dentist. I don't think they were very understanding nor do I think I would have been very good in the dentist chair throwing up but I am actually grateful they sent me that letter, because it forced me to re-examine this particular patient dentist relationship and I am finding it wanting. I found several of the other reviews on this page helpful. I realized that I am not alone in my suspicions that this practice my not be engaged in the most ethical of behaviors. I am not the type of person who wants to constantly second guess my dentist, but I am thinking in retrospect I really should have second guessed this one. Perhaps now that they have almost completely run out of procedures to sell me they would like to clear their plate to make room for new people who haven't got crowns on all their teeth yet. Good for them. On the plus side I can maybe get a second opinion on this final tooth which doesn't hurt at all and is on the one side of my mouth I can still chew on. Good for me. read more

First it seemed great. 18 mos later, I realized it was about the upsell & not dental & orthodontic care. Several crowns and old fillings 'needed' to be replaced. Among other things. My teeth are still crooked, another refinement is needed (3rd one) & I needed to pay more for it. Again. He used up my total lifetime coverage for orthodontics & got a lot more out of pocket from me. A billing & insurance discrepancy arose, he wanted me to drive to his office (I live almost an hour away), get insurance on the phone, then include his staff person. They didn't want to use the provider phone number for my ins co?? Simply weird. Very suspect. I finallytold them I wouldn't come back.I called an orthodontist. The scheduler asked me if I had a dentist, I told her I just quit one. I told her what happened - no names - and she said, 'oh, no'. I said, 'You've heard this story before?' Bathe is kinda jerky. He is arrogant, self absorbed and critical, but his work is ok to good. But be ready to pay, and get pressured. Long time client left based on Dr. Bathe behavior. He does not want you asking questions especially if they include the word "why?". Gave me injection so hard it turned the side of my face black and blue. I should have reported him to the Board. He has, and continues to grow his practice in just about every way, from the in-house technology to the caring and thorough treatment. He utilizes his staff's skills at the top of their licensure and it's clear from the team members' longevity and their interactions that it's a great place to work. I have been a patient with Impressions for several years and have never had a bad experience. When I first started with them I was in bad shape from years of not regularly seeing a dentist (I was a slacker as most twenty somethings seem to be in regards to dental hygiene, lesson learned). Over the first couple months, I had three crowns, all of my old fillings replaced, and a cavity or two filled. Once my teeth were successfully back to where they should be, I then opted for Invisalign to correct my stupidity for not wearing a retainer after getting my braces off when I was younger. Dr. Bath and his whole crew have always been kind and courteous, offering a warm blanket if needed - I mean who the hell does that! I have referred several friend and coworkers to this place and continue to go there for routine cleanings. The only complaint I have is that my favorite receptionist/glowing light of friendliness and quirk, Jessica no longer works there. It is odd that there are negative reviews for this place. Maybe it is because I don't have issues with dentists and can sit forever with people drilling away. But if you need a new dentist, do not be fooled, this is a top notch establishment. I received a coupon for Impressions Dentistry. Which gave me free x-rays. and a $59.00 cleaning. The positive for me was free nitrous. Because I have a super fear of cleanings and fillings etc. They were super nice. However the cleaning was eh.... um not really a cleaning . But they scheduled me for a deep cleaning. I was ok with that. I was charged 130.00 for the $59.00 for the lame cleaning. When i called to cancel an appointment and to have my statement corrected, I asked about the cleaning I was charged for, I was told this and that.... And the deep cleaning? One side would be $400.00. $800.00 for the entire "Deep" cleaning. I was also told that every single one of my fillings would have to be replaced. Yikes! Oh well back to the drawing board I AM STILL SCARED TO DEATH OF GOING TO THE DENTIST! :) read more

I have been going to Impressions Dentistry for over a year and they recently started offering sleep appliances. Best part is that they bill the appliance to your medical insurance, so your out of pocket expense is less. Shelley set me up with a take home sleep study, got back to me within days to let me know that my doctor approved me for the device and I went in for a short appointment to take impressions. I can't tell you how much this appliance has improved my quality of life. My C pap was miserable. I finally wake up feeling refreshed and with no headache! The best of the best! I am always given the best treatment when I come in, and if need be the staff use efficient communication to add me on to their schedule for procedures. I know they use the state of the art materials and resources because my insurance does not cover as much as if they were to use generic options, however I am more than ok with that. I would rather pay more now and get it done right the first time, than spending more time and money in the long run. Their attention to detail is remarkable, its something I pride myself in, in my line of work. So far I've had a good experience. I HATE the dentist. But I've felt pretty comfortable here. They have all of the new technology it seems, which I think is really cool. Especially the imaging they can do of your teeth! Dr Bath and his assistants were very good about keeping me informed, and making sure I was doing ok while getting my temp crown put on. I have gone to the same dentist office for almost 40 years. The practice sold a few times and I stayed. But I am sorry I waited so long to try something different. This place is total class from the minute one walks in the door. Large, gorgeous waiting room, very personable receptionist and when Cody was done with my cleaning and exam, I knew I was going back. Wow! Extremely up to date X Ray equipment and I got to see my teeth on a big screen. Cody was very personable and answered all my questions professionally.
