While initially we had positive experiences with IAR, we had our heater go out 3 times within about a year where IAR did the first 2 repairs and then the dealer did the 3rd repair. In attempting to resolve who is ultimately responsible, the Owner of IAR, Austin Blanton, intervened and by the end of the process simply stated he would be on the lookout for any legal representation. They inspected a car that I recently purchased. I ended up buying car on their recommendation.

Arrived an hour early to drop off our car to be inspected for a sale today. I'm not sure if the front staff was having a bad day but the energy and tone was off. We very politely asked the process and it was almost as if it was a burden to let us know. We left with the understand the car would take an hour starting at our appointment time. 2 hours later I'm calling to ask how the inspection went. The staff member immediately launched into a power trip about how he wouldn't share information from the inspection report. Came across extremely aggressive. We arrived....with the buyers out front. The aggressI've staff member standing in the window almost intimidating me while watching as his boss would come and do all the talking. Boss comes out and it felt like a talk down with my parents (buyers) Course he has all the right answers about how stressed they get when customers drop there car off early and how they can't discuss our car from an inspection report. The entire situation was handled poorly. Of course comes out the aggressive staff member was new and only 1 week into the job. Overall they did the inspection and covered what was needed but it could have been handled so much more professionally. Would not recommend bringing your vehicle to this location. read more

Found this gem in a pinch! I made a used car purchase and had 1 day left on a limited warranty to have it inspected and repaired at the dealerships expense. When I called the team was ready and willing to take my car at the last minute! I'm new to the Mercedes brand and had a ton of silly questions. Well, Austin & his team at Import Auto Repair (IAR) in Alpharetta saved me AGAIN!! This time, after a week of small trips all over Georgia, I pulled in the driveway and an "Old Faithful-like" geyser erupted beneath my hood! I contacted IAR and coordinated a towing service to pick up the "Old Girl" from the house and take her to IAR. In spite of the fact that IAR was jammed for weeks out, the pros at IAR diagnosed the problem on a Friday afternoon. These guys are great. Bottom line if you own a BMW that needs some attention, this is the ONLY place to take it. Bruce is a very easy to talk with charming guy that will walk through what needs to be done to get your car purring again. I don't want to get into the specifics (1 month tearing my hair out) The problem I had was with the coolent system 1st called my BMW service rep, left voicemail, he couldn't be bothered to call me back and I am still waiting !! I had it towed to a mechanic who in the end could not fix it. I called another place to see if they could do the work, ridiculed me because I mentioned my car does not have a temp guage..... It doesn't !! During lunch a friend recommend Bruce the owner of Import Auto. I went to talk the issue over with him and after our discussion was convinced he was the man for the job. I own a '99 Toyota Celica GT. The clutch was clearly on the way out so I did some research and decided to give this place a try. Austin, who greeted me in the office, was very patient and helpful with me while we discussed my options for what to replace and what to upgrade. I was told the car would be ready next day, and I'll be damned if it wasn't. Got a call by lunch. They installed a new OEM clutch kit and resurfaced the flywheel. I don't even know what the car drove like when she was new, but I know now. She shifts real smooth and there's almost no resistance in the clutch pedal. What's even better, when I noticed my car was listing to the right after the service, I took the car back to have them look at it, and they promptly performed an alignment for me, no questions asked, no extra cost. Apparently the clutch replacement took a minor alignment issue and made it worse, but the owner personally talked to me about it and took care of the issue right away. He even personally test drove the car to make sure she was ok. If you have a car, especially an older one, these guys are a great place to check out. It's a friendly, local shop with professional, knowledgable people, and a great turnaround. From my experience, I'd trust them with my Celica again. read more

I needed my vehicle repaired within a day of it breaking down. I drove to the post office, went in, came out and nothing. Not even a clicking noise. A friend of mine just had her car fixed at Import Auto and had nothing but complements. I had my car towed there and it was fixed the next day around Noon. I couldn't even tell car had been in shop and payment was easy and fast. I was worried that because I had never been there before and I wasn't completely sure what the issue was, that it would take at least 2 days to complete. I had an important meeting that following day and although I could have Uber'd the day, it wouldn't have looked very good. The best thing for me was I didn't even lose a day of work or the money I made. Top tier establishment in my book. I would certainly suggest Import Auto to my friends and family. read more

First of all, I would like to apologize to my car for taking it to this place for service. Sorry dear car, I will never never do this to you again. No car deserves this...My opinion of this place has changed from ok to zilch. I think the quality of work done at this place is absolutely horrible. My experience is as follows: I took my car to them with 2 SIMPLE issues and left there with 6 additional issues. I had to take my car back to them FOUR TIMES to get those issues fixes. And each time, they cause ANOTHER issue with the car. They blamed everything under the sun (including the weather) for my car's low performance. Keep in mind, other that the two issues I had with the car, it was running perfectly before they put their hands on it. One employee also told me that they take used parts, fix them, repaint them and put them in people's car. I couldn't even make this up. This came straight from the one of the employees. When I initially complained about the issues I was having, the same employee told me "we have to make sure we didn't put a bad part on your car". WHAT??!!! A BAD PART? I PAID A LOT MONEY FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A NEW PART!! I think the need to tell all customers that they do not use new parts on cars BEFORE they touch the car. I don't know about you but if I had known that they would put used parts on my car, I would have RUN to the dealer and paid double for a new parts. Now, who knows when the parts going to fall apart or cause other problems with existing parts? Its no wonder my car is driving like a possessed tractor! I think this place is a mess. I'm not sure what has changed. Maybe they have new management or employees or just don't care about what they do anymore. In my opinion, they have truly began LACKING in professionalism and quality of work. I can't believe that my car is actually driving WORSE than it was when I brought it in to them. And for them to be so nonchalant about how the car is driving and to stoop so low as to blame the weather, my brakes, my tires and everything else on the planet for the low quality of work done is insane. Sure, the customer service is great. But my car does not run on customer service. Nope, it sure doesnt. I'm completely done with this place. I actually thought I found a great auto shop in import auto. I guess not. I will gladly take my money elsewhere next time and in my opinion, everyone else should too.. read more

Had the timing belt on my 2004 F150 changed at Import Auto. It failed within 40 miles destroying the engine. The truck was towed to a near by Ford dealership where it took them a few days to get to diagnosing what caused the damage. The Ford dealership did determine that the failure was caused by the timing belt failure. A called import auto and left a message for Austin to call me back. I did not hear back from Austin for a couple of days, so I called back. He returned my call and I explained what had happened. Austin asked for the parts back, but the ford dealership had already thrown them away. I gave Austin the contact at the ford dealership so he could ask the detailed question, but according to the Ford service rep, he never called. Austin said the owner would not refund me for the original repair amount because they could not determine what caused the timing belt to fail. They seem to be a professional company until something goes wrong, then they don't even stand by their own warranty. I highly recommend not using Import Auto, but if you do, use cation. Not only did it cost me a lot more to use them, but I could of gotten the job done by the Ford dealership for close to the same price. read more
