I wanted to share an update in case people are curious to know the longevity of the tint. It's been almost 5 years since this place installed the tint on my windows and they still as great now as they did when they installed them. The tint has been exposed to Vegas heat as well as Tahoe's winters. I am still very much pleased with the quality of the tint and thank you to the folks at Imperial Tint for making my car's windows look amazing. After reading all the positive reviews on yelp I gave Imperial Tint a call. I talked to Julio, who I assume is the owner, and asked him if i could set up an appointment to have my windows tinted. I told him i wanted to tint all my windows except the windshield, he said okay and to bring it in whenever I wanted. I told him I could be there within 30 minutes of hanging up the phone and he said that was fine. I got in the car and drove to Santa Maria, from Grover Beach, and was greeted by Julio. He had me leave the car with him and told me to come back in a couple of hours. In the mean time I went to grab something to eat and went on a few errands. I got a call back from him an hour and half later saying the car was ready. He asked for the payment to be in cash. I withdrew some money from the bank and headed back. When i arrived to pick up my car, I noticed there was some bubbles between the film and the window. I brought it to his attention and he said it was common, and that it would disappear within one week. I had him fill out a warranty slip that promised he would repair or replace any faulty material or improperly installed tint film as a safety net. He has this in his office, but doesn't advertise them. I'm guessing its to prevent any paper trail leading to him. Without it you have no proof, so he doesn't have to fix a bad tint job. I decided to wait 3 weeks before calling him back about the bubbles that didn't disappear even though I followed all of the directions that were listed on the warranty slip (ie: no opening windows, no washing). I was instructed by Julio to bring the car in to diagnose the issue. He told me he would replace the 4 of 7 window tints that were improperly installed. I felt relieved, that is, until he said he ran out of the tint level that I needed. He told me he had ordered it and to come back in two days and he would have the issue fixed. So I come back in two days, and he gives me the same excuse. He ran out of the tint level that i needed. This time he told me he wouldn't have any available until the next week. I was patient and just wanted to have it fixed so I told him i would come back the following week. Before going in this time I called Julio and asked him if he had the tint level available. He confirmed that he did and told me to go in at 1pm. I brought the car in again for the 3rd time and when I got there he started laughing and said man "I just used the last of the %35 tint" and that he doesn't like to keep a lot in stock because "tint is like milk, you cant keep a lot of it because it will go bad". This is when I realized he was trying to dodge more work. He was bs-ing me. I had to go on a trip and couldn't be back for 3 weeks. Fast forward almost two months since i initially had my windows tinted. I gave Julio a call on a Monday to let him know I was back in town and he said he remembered my car and that I could bring it in later that week. I called him on Thursday and he said "yes we have the 35% tint bring your car in at 10 and we will fix it today" I told my boss, I was going in late to work so I could get my windows fixed. So I arrive at Imperial Tint and Julio was no where to be found. I talked to his assistant and he agreed that the windows needed to be re-done. We waited for Julio to show up, about 10 minutes, and again he uses the same excuse. He just ran out of the 35% tint and that he doesn't like to keep a lot in stock cause its like milk story. I was furious, I took time off from work to bring it in because he promised he had some in stock and was ready to re-install them. Julio was again lying to me. He even had the nerve to ask me not to post this on facebook or yelp. In the end I realized he never planned on fixing my car. I went in to his shop 5 times before I decided to give up. i had my windows first done on January 17, 2015 and it is now March 22, 2015 well over 2 months and he still keeps making up excuses in order for him to avoid re-tinting my windows. I know this review was long, but I hope other people can use it to make an educated decision. Imperial Tint is somewhat cheaper then a lot of the other places in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo Counties. Spend the extra $50 and get a real tint job. Don't do what I did. Get a quality tint job and avoid this place. Learn from my mistake, what a waste of money. read more

After speaking to a few auto tinting places and getting price quotes, I ventured into Imperial Tinting. I was greeted in a very courteous manner & was explained my options and prices. A while back I was looking to get my '87 Toyota MR2 tinted, it's got one back window, a driver and passenger side window (it's a coupe) and rear quarter glass on both sides. After talking to multiple shops in San Luis and being told either that they don't tint cars pre-2000 or it would be $250 to do what I wanted - which seemed a bit much considering how small the windows on an MR2 are, I ended up calling Imperial and was very happy! They were ready to take care of me pretty much whenever I was ready to make the trip down, and once I actually came out it only took maybe about an hour to get done! And to think that one other shop in SM even told me they'd need the car for the whole day! My installer was very friendly and accommodating as well. I requested quotes from 10 places around the SLO county area and this place quoted me a fraction of what everyone else quoted me. Naturally, I was a bit suspicious of how low the price was but decided to try it out. The place does look a bit run down, but don't let that scare you! They did a fantastic job with no bubbles and I am so happy with the results. Julio is extremely experienced and definitely underprices his service. I got 5 windows tinted by them. They use high quality metallic tint. Protects from uv and sun damage in your interior. They guarantee their work against bubbles and all that for as long as u own the vehicle. I got 20 in the back and 35 in the front. The rink looks super clean, and super tight. Why didn't I do it sooner. It keeps the car interior nice and cool. I will post picks later. The cons I saw were the didnt offer the super premium ceramic tint. But the tint they use is great, and it is good they don't carry the inferior tints. You may be able to special order the ceramic tint. Also the parking lot is tight.
