Gosh! I wish I had read the previous reviews before trusting my dry cleaning with them. When I dropped off my cashmere sweaters, I was quoted $5.50 each. I asked for a receipt and was told I'd receive a text. The only text I got was a generic thank-you message, not an itemized receipt. When I went to pick them up, the sweaters weren't even cleaned properly -- there were still crumbs on the sleeves. On top of that, I was charged $8 each for two sweaters and $7 for one. The manager called the staff member who had originally quoted me the price and proceeded to "train" her over the phone in front of me, instead of addressing my issue professionally. The manager's customer service was appalling, and she refused to honor the original price I was given. I'm definitely not going back here again. read more

They don't answer the phone, the staff is rude, they can't quote prices accurately, and worst of all--they keep denying responsibility. I've now been waiting six weeks for them to locate a very expensive sweater. I've stopped by seven times, and all I get are empty promises. This came right after another six-week ordeal just to get back my comforter, duvet, quilt, and blankets--only for them to blame me for not labeling them. Once I recover my sweater (if ever), I won't be coming back. I'd rather drive to San Francisco where I know things will be done right. Two weeks ago they quoted me one price and hand wrote what the cost would be. Five days later I come back to pick up my clothes and quoted more. They said I was quoted the wrong price. The Manager was not in so they gave me my clothes and asked me to come back. I'm an honest person so I decided to come back today to resolve and pay. Per the website and sign posted at the door hours of operation are 8:30am. It's 8:50 am and many of us are waiting patiently outside on this Friday morning! We called multiple times starting at 4pm and the phone lines are busy or no one picks up. When the woman finally picked up, she stated she has lost our expensive items and has no way of contacting her driver or providing an estimated pickup time! I hope this is the correct dry cleaner on Camino Ramon that is under new ownership and located close to FedEx. I used to bring our cleanings there for years, and then all of a sudden, they kept misplacing my items, not just one, but several, in fact so many, that we felt we needed to change drycleaners. After venting on NextDoor, asking for recommendations for a good cleaning business, we did take our items to a new cleaner. In the interim we had learned that the Imperial Cleaners was under new ownership and that the transition process may have been the reason for the frustrating misplacement of items. After a few months, we decided to try Imperial Cleaners one more time and luckily, we did not have any misplaced items anymore. So, I have to say, I am glad we are back at the familiar site and our items are receiving the promised TLC. The prices are reasonable, and the service is great. read more

Sadly, I'm having to change my rating from 5 stars (under previous owner) to 1. The new owner of this business makes up charges off the top of her head and never sticks to a verbal quote. Her nice employee quoted me a certain amount to have draperies cleaned, and when I picked them up, the cost was nearly DOUBLE what I had been quoted. ("She's new, and she didn't know the right amount.") I had been a regular customer for several years and this upset me. But I gave them another chance---this time over charges for cleaning an area rug. I was quoted "Minimum $45.00" over the phone, so I brought it in. When I got there, I asked for a firm quote, and without even unrolling the rug to see what she was cleaning, she said (on the same day) "Starts at $80.00." I reminded her she had quoted minimum $45.00 over the phone, and the answer I got was "Yeah, but I hadn't seen it.." When I asked for the highest amount it could end up costing, she stood there for a minute and appeared to pull a figure out of the sky. ($120.00). I took the rug elsewhere. If you need alterations for any formal wear, AVOID this place. I had dropped off pants and casual dresses here before and didn't have issues, so it was surprising to me how chaotic and awful the experience was for my formal dresses. I spent weeks coming back and forth, multiple times a week, to try and get my daughter's dress sized properly, along with a dress for myself. They tried to return my daughter's dress dirty, and when I pointed that out they agreed to dry clean it, but it further delayed the whole process. Ultimately, the dress was still big after 3 times of us coming back and them measuring her. For my dress, I had to come back multiple times because the seamstress wasn't in, and when it was finally done, they gave it back to me with completely uneven stitching around the outside of the chest area, blood stains on the silk/lace, and with strings hanging off of it. It looked like a DIY project vs professional work. My dress is ruined and unwearable, and I needed to find a new seamstress to work on my daughter's dress. When I complained and asked for a refund, they offered store credit -- as if we would ever return after this. A complete waste of time and money. read more

I came to pick up clothes on the date and time listed on the receipt, which was Tuesday at 5 pm. The cashier told me it's not ready and it's in Walnut Creek. I have to travel for business and was willing to pick up my clothes even if they did not press my clothes yet. Their rationale was that Monday was a holiday. I provided the feedback to the Cashier that they should not have promised the clothes on the date/time listed on the receipt. There were at least 3 other customers behind me with the same problem. They do not do all their cleaning onsite and could not locate the high priority suit I brought in specifically because they said they could get it done by the next day at 5 pm. I dropped it off first thing in the morning the day before - emphasizing the importance of the turnaround time, and lo and behold the suit is nowhere to be found in their store or at the other location they send it off to. As a first time customer, I really wanted to like this place but there were a few issues so it makes me a little hesitant to come back. I had dropped off a dress shirt and a dress on a Friday, and was told it would be ready by Tuesday. The the outfits we dropped off was worn for our engagement photoshoot, for about an hour or so, so it wasn't super dirty. However, my dress had some stains on it (presumably from sitting on the ledge at Sutro Baths that was covered in bird poop) so the gal who took the dress had marked the spots where it needed to be spot cleaned. She next inspected the shirt and said, oh, this looks like it's a nice (expensive) shirt. But the shirt was relatively clean but it needed to be cleaned and pressed. No issues there. I show up Tuesday and they said they aren't ready yet and need a few more days. A few more days goes by, we go to pick it up and was told they were trying to get some spots out. Well, that's weird because there weren't any spots or stains when I dropped it off. We were asked to come back in a few more days. We went the following Tuesday - at this point, more than a week has gone by and finally we were able to pick up the dress. Still no shirt. I guess at this point they really couldn't find it, and said to come back or call the following week for the shirt, maybe someone else picked it up with their order and might bring it back. Long story short, another week goes by and still no shirt. They offered to compensate us for the shirt that was lost which should be a given at this point but at the end of the day, we had 2 items cleaned and after 5 or 6 trips to the shop, we only got 1 item back and was compensated for the other item. 3 stars for the customer service because it seems like they felt bad about it and that they at the very least compensated us for the lost item but 2 stars off for the whole experience. Such a hassle to keep having to come back to check on the order and it took like 3 weeks to resolve. Really not sure if we will be coming back. read more

I usually want to support local small businesses but this place is just so disappointing and unprofessional. They lose our stuff frequently and make no effort to look for them or compensate us. They just expect that we would forget about our dry cleaning and not bother them about it when they have lost our clothes and did not even let us know what steps (if any) they are taking to remedy the situation. In May I took a relatively new suit to be clean and it came back with no front buttons.....I gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked them to replace all the buttons and they put the buttons in a sloppy place so that the suit is crooked and also did not sew a hem in on my sleeves basically both have to be redone ....they don't stand by their work will not go back read more

Imperial Cleaners was fabulous! They cleaned my 30-year-old wedding dress and veil for my anniversary party. It is a heavily beaded dress and not one pearl or bead fell off. They also altered it by removing the long sleeves and making little cap sleeves. It completely modernized the dress! I recently used this dry cleaner prior to going on vacation I brought in can Tommy Bahama button up shirts to have them dry cleaned and when I got them back one still had spots on it and then while I was on vacation I realized none of my shirts have been dry clean all they did was spray deodorizer on them and press them. I haven't received horrible service in a long time across any service or industry....especially to the magnitude where I felt compelled to write my first negative review... I had several collared shirts to either dry clean or launder, didn't matter to me which... whatever is faster and cheaper. Showed up 10 minutes before closing. The owner is there (assuming he is the owner) Korean male, who from the onset exuded negative energy. As I get out of my car, he is glaring at me (parked directly in front of store); to the point where as soon as I walked in the door, I said "sorry are you already closed?" He says "no" annoyingly... I then start to count the shirts for him and he continues with major attitude, I finally ask him if he wants me to leave... doesn't say anything... I then ask how much are you going to charge me per shirt and he says $5.40 per shirt. I told him I've been coming here regularly for a year and it's never been more than $2 a shirt. Doesn't say a word. Finally I just said I'm not going to give you my business and left... The odd thing is I felt prejudiced against... I also felt he may have counted the register already... the problem I have is he simply could have said that and that the store was closed, I would have happily come the next day. From one Korean to another. Your service made me feel horrible and I want all to know. Good luck. You'll need it. Dry cleaners are a dime a dozen and if you can't simply be a decent person, I don't see how your business will last. read more
