I was nervous about going to a new center. However I've been going for about a month now and it's always been a great experience yesterday as we were all preparing for a big storm. I wanted to make sure to get my donation in prior to the storm.As usual everything went smoothly and I was lucky enough to meet Lily. Lily was the tech who greeted me as I settled into the donation chair. It was super busy however Lily took her time greeted me was very kind and engaging. We talked a little bit about the weather and discovered we are both big fans of I need to combat the side effects of the cold weather. Long story short it was a great donation. She was efficient kind and went out of her way to make sure that I was comfortable as well as all of the other patients she was working with. You all have a great team. I appreciate the opportunity to donate at the Saint Peter's center.

I HATE giving plasma because I'm weird about needles and how my body feels during the procedure, but still do it. Today, 10/06/2025, at roughly 6:00 PM, I went from hating it but doing it anyway to simply never doing it again. In fact, I don't ever really write reviews, but made an account and came here ant typed all this purely because BioLife Plasma St. Charles is horrendous. I arrived with my friend and proceeded with regular routine, since I've been here enough to just know what to do. Had I not known coming in, I would have received poor service and untimely help by a closing staff who seems to give very little care or acknowledgements to any donors coming in. They weren't busy either, half of the staff standing around fairly obviously just waiting for close so they can go home. Upon doing the preliminary testing/check-up, the man I wound up getting was extremely rude and ruined my whole night, which could've been spent elsewhere doing something I actually wanted to do. I was having a pretty good day before that point. He (African American male individual, tall, quiet) did not greet me, and just began moving. He immediately proceeded to doing the finger prick to collect my blood for testing BEFORE any blood pressure/heart rate testing. That meant if I had failed this test, I still got my finger pricked which I hate with a seriously burning passion. It is an extraordinarily uncomfortable feeling to me, but stomach it for the sake of ease for all. I failed the heart rate test because apparently it was at 116, but I didn't know that. The man walked away and came back 30 seconds later and just told me to go sit down for 5 minutes, which I did, still not knowing why. The verbatim quote was "Go sit down and I'll call you back up.", which I did without any protest. I was then called back and got measured again and failed a second time, but I had done no exclusive calming down when I was sent away because HE SAID NOTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. I also have a naturally higher heart rate, and couldn't really even tell that it was high to begin with. By this point I was being conned out of my time. I failed a second time and he said, verbatim, "Come back and try again tomorrow.", to which I replied "What? What happened?" He then, as if burdened, rotated his machine around and showed me my heart rate at 116 when it apparently has to be below 100. Probably would've passed just fine if I had at all known to go exclusively try to slow it, but again, he said next to nothing up until this point, essentially sending me home with 0 dollars, 0 donation and *2 hours of evaporated time* out of my otherwise very dense and busy day, which I elected to spend altruistically giving my blood. BioLife's entire PR hinges upon messages they send out to "get people back into the donation chair", then put on a display of pure inadequacy, rudeness and contempt, and they seem fine with that culture of theirs, which brings me to my official recommendation for BioLife St. Charles: Do anything with your day except go there anywhere near closing hours (likely 5PM-7PM). They are not there to help you anymore, and their hospitality has seriously vanished. Day shift workers are a different story in most of my experiences. In my friends case, who passed the preliminary tests just fine, she had a horrendous experience as well, per her report. During her plasma drawing, she had an incredibly uncomfortable experience, with the needle slipping wildly with loosely applied tape, creating a very unpleasant process. The worker for her section appeared rude and, again, burdened by her presence, and having to go press a few buttons on the machine whenever it stopped working. So, from this testimonial, on 10/06/2025 past 5:50 PM at BioLife St. Charles, every FOH worker from the beginning to the end of the visit had been nothing but rude. I have worked food service for quite some time and fully understand the general attitude of food service workers near close. But they are not food service workers. They're doing much, much less for much, much fewer hours. They have 0 (zero) entitlement to behave in this way, especially directly towards donors who, again, are there entirely on their own will to do something charitable and make a few bucks. But, as of now, if they offered me $500 per donation, I'd tell them to piss off. Edit: they acted this way towards me, who is extremely unproblematic and very likely in the best possible physical shape to donate, with seamless donations every time. Imagine somebody else, like anybody who's older or might be slower during the donation process. It's pretty evident that they'd care even less about those people, too.

When I lived in Brentwood Forest the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center did a drive at the clubhouse there. It was one of the best experiences I had giving blood. Since then I've regularly given at the Crestwood location. It is easy to schedule an appointment, the staff are friendly, and there are the best snacks! I love it. You also get little mini rewards (pins, grocery bags, shirts) as you hit different benchmarks in giving blood. If you give blood in St. Louis I highly recommend doing it here.

I sat there for 2-3 hours with waiting nobody even said nothing to me about smelling like weed when I was my name was getting put in the system. You won't catch me there ever again. LET ME REMIND YOU FIRST THING THE NURSE ASKED ME WAS, "Do you smoke pot?" Even my friend got pass me and he smokes.

They used to have a 3-tiered structure to pay you for your plasma based on your weight. Now, they have gone to a 5-tiered pay structure based on your weight AND Now Height. I have made over 500 donations with them and now they are doing this? Folks, it's all in the name of corporate greed AND (to use that disgusting business world phrase) "to enhance shareholder value." So their new motto, paying you less AND taking more from you. For the center I use in St. Louis, I give a rating of 4 out of 5 which I have done before and still do. My beef is with the corporate level decisions they make and this latest one is the reason for the 1 rating. Donating now will be less of a priority than it was before today. Three years ago, I had a stroke at home and no one was with me with Thanksgiving morning. My…read morehusband had run to pick up One granddaughter. We were all planning to go to my daughters for dinner and I was baking the turkey and dressing. I got out of the shower and I had a stroke and I lost consciousness and he came in about 15 minutes later and yelled at my granddaughter call 911 your Nana had a stroke within 45 minutes of them, arriving at my house, which was five minutes from when he called. They had me on the operating table and had the blood clot removed for my brain. I was fortunate enough to get 99% of all functions back and at the same time they did it CT scan and it went down a little too low, but they discovered I had lung cancer. I was also treated at David Pratt cancer center by the best oncologist I've ever seen Doctor Robert Frazer and now three years later I am in remission that they won't say cancer free for a lot of years, but they used a new procedure on me called CyberKnife. It's just another form of very strong radiation but no chemo no surgery just the CyberKnife treatments there's 6 1/2 times the strength of one radiation treatment, but you only do it five times and stay gone thank the Lord as far as I know.
