You get work and pay the same day in many cases.. uhhhnnmm I wish I were a concrete laborer.. I coudl work many days. I am a bartender. i was hired to do that. I ended up being a concessaionaire.. "your contract says we can change the jobs.." I want to work.. I do. My feet hurt. We did not get legal breaks. We were offered leftover rice or hot dogs ONLY toeat and it was a stress thing about the food and breaks. There are other ways to treat people. I wore a shirt too big. I got yelled at by a 21 yr old who decided I am stupid. ( ???) The managing staf f of workplace are mostly professional BUT the position change was unfortunate and upsetting. Somehow I failed this test, resulting in a 1 year ban from working from them, and I am not able to argue my results. When I asked how this is so, I was told that they don't have any information about why I failed. I decided to e-mail someone further up the ladder and was told that this test can also tell when someone is lying. I guess this test didn't work on a couple of other guys in there that looked like tweekers. Most of my experience with this company was as an assistant to a job site coordinator in Arizona. I have hired people through this company. I will be contacting the contractors that I know and definitely let them know my opinion of this company. If I could choose less than 1 star I would do so.

For all people mentioned here, the ultimate goal is to gain employment, and that is where the Work Source Office comes into play. For myself I had been gainfully employed for 21 years. I have not had to undergo the rigors of applying for jobs, nor have I experienced a job interview in a very long time, as well as writing a resume. The resume I currently had was outdated, and no longer applied to my advanced skill sets; also, within those 21 years the process of applying for jobs had changed drastically. 21 years ago a person typed up a resume, and a cover sheet, and went to the employer seeking a job application. They would fill out the application, and leave mentioned application with the employer along with the resume, and cover sheet. In these most modern times this process is done over the internet. The Work Source Affiliate North Seattle Office provides very good classes on job interviewing techniques, as well as resumes writing. I attended several of these classes and found them to be quite enjoyable as well as informative. By following their suggestions I was able to in short order create a resume that accurately described my skill sets, and levels of expertise. It would have taken me much longer had I tried to do this alone, also the class on interviewing skills was also very informative, and as the class was in progress I could already see that during a few of my most recent interviews I had made many, common interview errors. The Work Source Affiliate North Seattle Office provides a lot of resources for job searches. They also provide computers, and printers because from what I understand many people do not have, or cannot afford internet access right now, or don't have access to computers in general. The computers and other resources are to be used for job related activities only, so don't expect to go there and treat the place like a coffee shop and sit around searching out your favorite websites. This sort of behavior is frowned upon, and you will be asked to leave. You can post your resume on Work Source's dedicated website for employers to view. All you have to do is setup an account, and then upload your resume. Thousands of human resource representatives search the Work Source's site for potential prospects everyday, so don't be surprised if within a matter of days you get an email from a company that is interested in you and your skill sets because of the resume you posted on Work Source's website. Be humble - you likely do not know everything. The job search certainly has its challenges. No one will ever hand you a job. But you can do your prep work in a nice office surrounded by the beautiful NSCC atmosphere.The art, views, plants and more create an inspiring and comfortable atmosphere. The location is ideal if in your job search suddenly decide to go to school! Here you are ! At a beautiful community college. There is a huge parking lot behind campus. Once you enter 826 itself, you'll stop and wonder if it's like the TARDIS or Mary Poppins' carpet bag! It's a wonderfully spacious and bright space that invites kids to sit down and get some homework done. This branch of 826 National opened in October 2005 and serves Seattle Public School District and greater Seattle area school districts. Its concept is a simple one: kids are welcome to come in for three hours after school. They may receive any sort of homework assistance in any subject from a trained 826 volunteer. The volunteer will help them and after the coursework is complete, the kids are encouraged to complete a half hour of reading with the tutor and also dedicate some time to writing. During the year, the centre hosts benefits like a dance marathon or their Mustache-a-Thon. And they have a softball team "The Oscar Wildes"... and here's where I need to be honest. I am a little biased. I know a half dozen 826'ers socially and every single one of them give tirelessly of their time to these kids that so desperately need it. And their satisfaction comes from the knowledge that the kids might get bitten by that bug... you know the one, the one that pushes us to learn more, be more, aspire for greater things! 826 Seattle is simply awesome!…read more Started several years ago in San Francisco by talented author and McSweeny founder David Eggers and his wife, 826 Valencia had so many admirers back in my hometown. 826 is known for its youth-focused creative writing and tutoring programing, so when I noticed they had opened up shop in Seattle, I was thrilled to check out their workshops for our little writer. For the most part, the classes are geared to kids aged 6-18, We have a tough customer in our midst--thoughtful, independent, creative, and opinionated. Our little Mark Twain Jr. came from the 826 workshop beaming and excited about the creative writing project she is working on in class. That is always the best gauge as far as I am concerned! The workshop space is a hidden but large, colorful classroom area behind their retail space. The teacher to student ratios in her class were generous to ensure all kids are getting great instruction and guidance. The teachers are young and energetic, the space was inviting, and the classes (I can't believe this) for now are gratis. That' free, people! For this reason, they seem to want to understandably touch the most students possible, so if your are enrolled in one class, they will only wait list you in another. Seems fair. What a great mission: spreading creativity, excitement about writing, improving writing skills and doing the community a great service. Anything purchased in their retail shop (think robots, space travel oriented items, and art books) supports the 826 organization and funds classes. A great spot for innovative programming for kids not geared to route memorization, competition and test taking. Here's to thoughtful kids who think differently and enjoy creating and writing!
