Communication with the staff was absolutely top notch, as was the technician who came out to do my installation. Rodney was punctual, honest, and extremely respectful of my space (also the fact that I was on work calls periodically throughout the morning). He was able to get me up and running in no time. Per my initial request, also he checked (and fixed) a wiring issue in my office ceiling fan, and double-checked the power in my office and also the outside box. As someone who lives alone except for four cats (whom I would not trust to work on anything electrical), that kind of peace of mind is priceless. And because Rodney was so awesome, he also put in a new air filter in my hallway that I bought but could not install. I have periodic bouts of dizziness and my doctor doesn't want me going up ladders, especially when dealing with super-high ceilings. Rodney to the rescue! Mr. Bar responded and showed up on Saturday. He hooked up some gauges and claimed my AC was low on Freon, charging me $475 to refill 5 pounds of it. After he left, the AC still didn't work, because it turned out there was an evaporator coil leak. I informed Bar the same day and he came back the next Sunday but said he COULD NOT inspect for the leak and would have to call his "master" to handle it. No one showed up on Sunday or Monday. By Tuesday, after suffering in a 95-degree house for two days (which I informed Bar about over the phone multiple times), I had enough and found another technician who replaced the evaporator coil and fixed my AC. When I negotiated with Bar for a refund on the Freon, he refused, claiming: (1) He was saving me money by only refilling Freon. (2) It's his standard procedure to fill Freon if the gauges indicate it's low, and he would only do further checks if that didn't work. (3) It was my fault for not waiting for his "Master" to perform a further leak check. To make matters worse, I later discovered that Bar is not even LICENSED to do HVAC work in Texas. He should NEVER have touched my AC, hooked up gauges, or refilled the Freon. Avoid this business AT ALL COSTS. They have no issue operating unethically and illegally. Do yourself a favor, call TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) to verify their qualifications before you even consider contacting them for any work. Based on my experience, I would caution anyone against hiring them for any work.

The good: Reasonable prices, friendly technicians, were able to be booked on short notice…read more The bad: I caught a mistake myself that would have caused some drywall damage if I didn't convince/ show them before the left. In summary, my laundry room was recently painted and the dryer vent ducting came out of the back of the machine. I tried to fix it myself but when I pushed the machine back against the wall the duct kept coming off. Unfortunately I found this out by leaking a whole dryer load worth of hot air into my house (fortunately we have an electric dryer so it wasn't bad fumes). Anyways, I yelped around to find a good local company, and strawberry appliance was able to make it out within a few hours. The guys were friendly, replaced the duct from the wall to the machine with a more pliable one so that would stop coming undone, and all this went well. The issue was the connection on the opposite side of the wall had come undone from the work they did, so essentially all the hot air wouldn't have ducted directly outside. I'm sure this would have caused some moisture issues, and I would have expected them to check that before they wrapped up, but they appreciated me catching it and were able to quickly and easily fix it. Overall I would use them again, but would keep an eye out as they haven't fully gotten my trust yet due to the one mistake on the one time they came out.
