I guess that's how the owner Steve rolls. I haven't yet met a teacher who cares about his students as much as Steve. He is hands on and is a terrific and patient teacher. I think it's important to get some positive vibes going for this place because so many decisions (for better or worse) are made via Google searches and if you don't exist on social media one might as well be that tree that falls in the forest. Couldn't recommend this place more. And not just from a karate perspective. They are all about teaching the core values of self control, self discipline, respect for others. We are clearly huge fans. And so are all the other dozens of families who have been coming here for years.

We build self-confidence! 6th degree Black Belt Master Steve Hannah has been teaching karate in downtown Walpole since 1991 at Villari's Martial Arts of Walpole, MA. We conduct classes for students of any age from children to adults. Our age-specific curriculum is designed to both challenge and inspire our students to achieve their goals! Karate lessons are ongoing, and it's always a great time to start karate with Villari's Martial Arts. We have several levels of memberships, and are sure to have one that fits your schedule. In our karate for kids program, children as young as 4 years old enroll in our classes. Our teen classes are fun and challenging as well! It's never too late to start karate classes! Adults of all ages love our karate, and promote the right balance of both mental and physical activity to leave you feeling GREAT, class after class.

I'm going to try to make this review as much about the place, not the practice. That being said,…read moreKung Fu is an amazing thing to learn, and a very well-rounded discipline. I have practiced for six months at this location with no other prior martial arts instruction. As a total newbie to working out in general it has been tough, but rewarding because of the positive environment and community support. The instructors here are all kind, empathic, approachable, knowledgeable, energetic and just plain geeky in their own ways. They are as great with kids as they are with adults. Evidence of this is seen easily- in our Basic class two of the newest members are mothers whose children have been attending classes here. Unlike other places that will limit your number of classes per week or month they do not- which is great! If you have the ability the new summer schedule allows a new member to take classes six times a week! Of course, it isn't always recommended- they are all about safety. Like everything else in Kung Fu training is all about balance, and Martial Arts Center is good at pushing you just hard enough. I've heard of martial arts classes that are too hard on their students mentally and physically. I've heard of rigid training and strictness with behavior and how the body must move. Martial Arts Center is open-minded, fun, and encourages everyone to move the way it feels right for them. As much as paying attention is emphasized, you are encouraged to joke around and enjoy yourself. You never know what pop culture reference you'll stumble into in the middle of conditioning or when a room of twenty-somethings will start jokingly walking around like crabs while practicing stances. I think the instruction honestly strikes a great balance between teaching something old in a newer way that people, regardless of age or experience, can grasp. Current members are respectful, engaged, hard-working and are obviously enjoying themselves while getting stronger- what more could you want?
