My 1st archery experience was spectacular. Albeit, I didn't hit the bulleyes after 1 hour worth of attempts. You make an appointment. Sign some waivers. Watch a quick simple video. Get some tips from an instructor for 2 rows and you're off shooting arrows. Kind of the best $20 spent doing something therapeutic. It was a bit warm, even with the A/C or huge fan running. Kind of funny to see who takes charge of calling, "Clear!" For us, it was between a quiet young girl and an older Asian commando type. My quiet quirky friend, not the alpha type tried doing it, but it wasn't clear. [facepalm moment]

A Truly Outstanding Experience at Impact Archery! My fiancée and I had an absolutely incredible experience with Charles, the owner of Impact Archery. After purchasing her a new bow, we called the shop to see if we could get some professional help assembling everything and getting it dialed in. When we showed up an hour later, Charles immediately put his lunch aside, cleared the workbench, and got straight to work -- talk about dedication! From the moment we walked in, Charles was friendly, personable, and unbelievably knowledgeable. He made us feel right at home, getting to know us and even sharing his own stories while he meticulously built out the bow. He took the time to let her choose all her favorites - serving colors, peep size, and every other detail you could imagine. Nothing was rushed, nothing was overlooked. Once the bow was set up, Charles brought us back to the indoor range and spent focused, one-on-one time making sure everything was perfect -- draw length, poundage, peep placement, sight tuning - you name it. He fine-tuned everything with an expert eye until it was shooting beautifully. Then he gave us time to shoot on our own and make sure we were 1000% happy with the final setup. Honestly, we had so much fun working with Charles that we didn't even want to leave. The passion, care, and professionalism he pours into his work are truly unmatched. We can't wait to come back to Impact Archery to shoot with Charles (Owner), Tracy (General Manager and Private Lesson Instructor), and the rest of their fantastic team. If you need anything archery-related - beginner help, expert tuning, or just a welcoming place to shoot -- Impact Archery is the place to go. Highly, highly recommend!

Waited a long time for an employee just to come out and see what we wanted and then got an attitude and wasn't very friendly when my husband was asking questions about a compound bow. Like this is not how you make sales and this is not professional. if you want someone to buy your equipment then maybe you should be more customer service friendly. I had to walk out of the store because I was gonna get very disrespectful because the guy just absolutely is not friendly. The guy acted like it's an inconvenience to have customers in the store.

Ask the Community - Impact Archery

Hi. My daughter & I are interested in learning archery but have no idea how to get started. What do we do initially?

I would recommend making a reservation on our website for our shooting experience. It is under the "One hour lane and equipment rental". After that maybe we can discuss purchasing equipment and lessons and memberships. Does that sound good?

My Friend and I did a Thursday night lesson to do something different for girls night. Upon arriving, since it was our first time we were asked to watch a safety video and sign waivers prior to starting. If you come during the day there was a little cafe to get food and drinks if you were planning on spending the day out there. The range is outdoors and the weather was perfect. When we first arrived it was not super busy. There are about 12 spots for the beginners to shoot from. For $15, we were able to shoot as much as we wanted from 6:30-8:30 which I thought was a great price especially since it included rental equipment. The staff were super friendly and helpful with suggesting tweaks to aim/shoot better. Over time, more people arrived and the staff gave the option for those who had gotten comfortable shooting at the closest range if they were interested in trying a farther target to make space. Although the crowd was larger, it never felt overcrowded and we never had to wait on a lane to be open. We're already making plans to bring our husbands back to try it out too, so it's safe to say we enjoyed it!

"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So, when life is dragging you back with…read moredifficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great." Thomas Fuller As far back as the Stone Age, archery has been present. It's one of the oldest of sports and it's supported by the ancient artifacts that have been preserved and found. Prior to man using a gun to kill and destroy other objects and people the use of a bow and arrow was used. The word archery comes from the Latin word arcus, which means bow and arrow. In fact, in an archery game the arrow can fly twice over again than what a cheetah can run. We have all these facts about archery. Why should one care about archery today? We don't hunt any longer? We have guns to shoot our enemies and kill our food? If one forgets their past history, like what is apparently happening today all these things are forgotten. Even if your not hunting, which I would never do. Taking an animals life for sport is wrong. That's just my personal preference. Im not going to hunt any humans either? But we need to keep the past alive here in the present. The staff here are very well trained in the skills of archery. Maybe not for hunting but just to keep the skill alive. Most of the staff are on the younger side as well. They build bows here for all price ranges. And can even teach you how to use your bow properly. While the bow and arrow was mankind's first weapon of choice and advanced technology. In many American Native cultures the bow and arrow symbolized an embodiment of magic as given through the spirit world. These days the bow and arrow has truly evolved. The compound bow is what we ended up taking home vs the recurve bow. The compound bow allows the user to draw with more control and less weight as you use it. The compound bow is truly better at accuracy than the recurve bow. Most individuals start on a recurve bow and graduate to a compound bow. The consistency of the compound bow might seem more complex it's easy to master with practice. A good shooter is known for their aim. Archery is in the love of watching the arrow fly and hit the target. Now focus your mind and let the bow be part of you. Aim and let go and watch the arrow fly to the target.

It is also a really fun place to visit even if you aren't shopping for anything specific. As a big-dog owner with a Doberman who is a service dog in training, I've now visited this store three times with my dog, and every trip has been fantastic. The store carries a huge variety of outdoor equipment, clothing, hunting and fishing gear, camping supplies, boating equipment, shoes, dog supplies, treats, toys, and more. I especially love the aquariums and taxidermy displays throughout the store--they make it feel more like an experience than just a store. There's also an archery range, outdoor seating, tractors on display, and a beautiful entrance with a wooden bridge over water. **** Why I especially love it for dogs in training**** For dogs that already have their basic commands down and are ready for more real-world exposure, I think this is an excellent environment. There are so many opportunities to practice: * Different surfaces: wooden bridges, smooth floors, carpet, stairs, rocks, etc. * New sights: taxidermy, boats, tractors, aquariums, hunting and camping equipment, and more. * New smells: fish bait, treats, snacks, clothing, shoes, other dogs, and people. (Smelling from a distance ofc, I don't let my dog stick her nose right up in there, that's rude haha) * Loose-leash walking and heeling: It's a large store, so there's plenty of room to practice navigating turns, corners, and aisles. * Down-stays: The many aisles make great opportunities to practice staying calmly while you browse. * Focus around distractions: On busier days, your dog may encounter children, adults, other dogs, and all the other activity that comes with a large store. * Tasking practice: For service dogs in training, it can be a useful environment to practice maintaining focus and performing tasks around distractions. * Confidence building: The variety of sights, sounds, smells, surfaces, and people can provide gentle exposure for dogs who need to build confidence. Of course, I would only recommend bringing dogs that are under control, non-aggressive, and have a reasonable foundation of basic obedience. And always follow the store's current pet/service-animal policies. As someone who can get a little anxious about whether my SDiT is behaving perfectly, I also appreciate how comfortable and welcoming this environment feels. I've had my dog do the occasional "drive-by nose boop" to someone we passed, and instead of feeling embarrassed, I've generally found people to be incredibly understanding and friendly. I've even met fellow big-dog owners and had conversations about Dobermans. One of my favorite moments was when my Doberman suddenly froze and intensely stared down an empty aisle with one paw lifted like she was "pointing" at something invisible. An employee and I both started laughing. **** Great for big-dog owners**** I've found their dog selection particularly useful for larger breeds. Because of the store's focus on outdoor and hunting dogs, I've noticed a better selection of larger-dog equipment than I often find at typical pet stores. They also carry things that can be useful beyond hunting, including scent-training supplies, life jackets for swimming, training equipment, toys, treats, and other gear. I could easily see using many of these products for scent work, dock diving, outdoor adventures, and general training. I also appreciate the selection of dog treats and the ability to find options with ingredients I feel comfortable giving my dog. **** Overall Experience **** The staff have always been friendly, personable, professional, and helpful--and sometimes genuinely funny. There's plenty of parking, and the outdoor area and entrance make the store feel inviting before you even walk inside. I also love that it's open until 10 p.m. on weekdays. To me, Bass Pro Shops feels like more than a store. It's almost like a little mini-world where you can shop, explore, train your dog, and see other people enjoying the store too. I highly recommend this place for hunters, boaters, fishers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts.... but especially for dog owners whose dogs already have a foundation of obedience and are ready for more real-world exposure and distractions.
