Former student here. I graduated in recent years and figured I'd write a review about my experience. First of all, this establishment claims that it "empowers students to be innovative and creative problem solvers." However, this statement completely contradicts what I went through. When I was a freshman in high school, I was placed into an honors math class and felt that I was prepared for the year ahead of me. This honors class was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken even though I had taken the exact same class in eighth grade. My math teacher would often say that "You guys have seen this before" or "You guys should know how to do this from middle school." I didn't. I had no idea what I was doing when I got to high school and felt incredibly behind from all of my peers. The fact that the subject I felt the least prepared in was math coming from a self-proclaimed "STEM Academy" was beyond me. I know my limitations and math was not it. I had all A's in math while attending this school. One of the biggest things I NEVER learned in Algebra I at IC was mean/median/mode. I remember that everyone of my peers in that freshman year Honors Algebra I class already knew this from middle school. read more

I am truly grateful to Immaculate Conception School and all it has done for the growth and development of my daughter. My daughter has been a student here since 2015 and I am so proud to see the young lady she is becoming. My daughter is a happy student and succeeding academically. She is also in sports and other key clubs that the school offers. As a strong leader, our principal has brought forth many new programs to IC like STEM and empowerment classes for our kids. I know that our principal always acts in the best interest of our students and strives to continue to bring great success to Immaculate Conception School. Being part of the IC School family motivates me to be involved because I enjoy the IC community and all that it stands for. I am definitely a proud parent of IC. Lastly, I look forward to my little one starting TK in the fall. The TK/ K teachers a hard-working team who are experienced and provide an outstanding program. read more

Enrolling and having both of my daughters attend this school was a complete waste of TIME & MONEY. The principal ignores and avoids any issues you may encounter and endure; regardless of the listed responsibilities of her position. My daughter (Kindergarten) was being bullied by another girl repeatedly and relentlessly; as this issue was originally addressed to the aggressors parents, whom exhibited apathy. The teachers joined the apathy as the Principal simply couldn't be bothered with concern or a warranted response. I've contacted the Archdiocese as this egregious and inhumane experience is currently in their hands. I've since, removed my children from this school because I no longer wanted my daughters to be subjected to repetitive and gut wrenching BULLYING. Additionally, I am not the only parent that has removed their children based on the Principal's lack of PRINCIPLE; it's possible she has the unfortunate combination of being untrustworthy and incompetent. Furthermore, the educational value and criteria is appallingly low and behind respectable standards (especially from an institution that has the audacity to charge for such an atrocity; a blatant disservice to our youth). This discovery was made once my daughters began attending their new school. Furthermore, this discovery was verified by the new teachers as they confirmed the current criteria from Immaculate Conception is virtually a grade-level behind. I was embarrassed... mostly for the lack of educational development I once entrusted to be bestowed upon my daughters. In conclusion, the concept and investment into the standards, expectations and practices of a Private Catholic School are just completely lost; which is completely ironic, as they have made it clear; teachers are just a part of a run-out-the-clock protocol for a paycheck. As this school is under going remodel in preparation for the 2019-2020 school year, expect to pay for all those renovations. It's a shame, they aren't renovating their personnel. My complaints are also being forwarded to the City Councilman, so he may be aware of the virtual scam this school is practicing. I feel you can make a better decision for your children. I would not recommend this campus to anyone. I am so appalled at how the staff handles bullying. Solutions to bullying are not simple. Bullying prevention approaches that show the most promise confront the problem from many angles. They involve the entire school community--students, families, administrators, teachers, and staff such as bus drivers, nurses, cafeteria and front office staff--in creating a culture of respect. Zero tolerance and expulsion are not effective approaches. My God daughter attended this school and my heart would break every time she cried to me about what was going on. I felt helpless. I truly hope the staff starts to take bullying serious because this is a real public health issue. I hope this helps shine light to an issue that must be taken care of. read more

When my daughter was 3 years old I began looking for day cares and Montessori schools. Every where I went was either to expensive or they had a waiting list. My mother told me that Immaculate Conception was starting a new Transitional Kinder program. I looked into it and the price was great and she would be going to school from 8-2:45 pm daily. I loved it! other schools were only half days. My daughter began TK at 3 years old and she loved it, she learned how to say the "our father" in its entirety, she knew her letters, numbers, shapes etc. This year she is in TK again because she is only 4 years old. She has excelled in her class and is now learning how to read. My original idea was to keep her in transitional kinder at IC then transfer her to public school once she was ready to go to kinder. Now, I have decided to keep her at IC. The class sizes are small and the children get more one on one with the teachers. She is getting a great education. As a single mother, I was afraid that I was not going to be able to afford the tuition, but the school was able to work with me and I am sure other families, so don't let your finances be an issue. Again I love IC, not just because of the education my child is receiving, but also the friendships that are built (not just the children, but also the parents). You get to know the families and you build a community. read more

IC has been a second home to our children for the last 6 years. My husband and I have 2 sons currently enrolled at IC, and we are blessed to be surrounded by a community of parents who are committed to the school, their children's academic experience, and to the other families of IC. The IC community has truly become our extended family. Our school has undergone several changes over the last few years. Due to the hard work, perseverance and dedication of our principal, Ms. Lovano, IC continues to grow and improve by leaps and bounds each year. Ms. Lovano is an incredible individual with decades of experience in education. She pushes the students to excel academically while maintaining the values of a Catholic education. As a result, my two children are growing up to be respectful, confident and academically driven young boys. This is due in large part to the overall education they receive at IC. My family and I feel blessed to have Ms. Lovano as our principal and to be a part of the IC community. read more

Love this school! Classes are small and the kids receive the attention that they deserve. I NEVER thought he'd be so happy to go to school in the mornings. My son has not only excelled scholastically, but has developed into a fine young gentleman. I appreciate the social skills that the staff teaches the children. I highly recommend this school to anyone that wants to give their children a well rounded education. read more

My grandson is in Kindergarten. He started here in TK. He has learned so much in a year and a half and he is only 5 1/2. The education he is receiving is outstanding! His teachers are excellent and very caring. The Principal, Ms. Lovano, is always accessible & at all school events. He is receiving a great education as well as growing spiritually. IC school rocks! My son started 4yrs ago and is now headed off to third grade. my daughter just completed her first school year in TK. I am so blessed to call this school our second home and the faculty and staff our extended family. My children are excelling in their studies thanks to the dedication,quality care and attention they receive from their teachers. The fundamentals in Catholic faith and social conduct that are instilled at home are supported by this school. I have so much love for this school because I have seen the positive footprints each teacher has left in my children's lives.IC school teaches and promotes God's love not only through their words but with their actions. My son is attending this school after leaving Royal Oaks Elementary. My son attended Royal Oaks for 1 1/2 day and I decided that it was not the school for him. IC is a great school with great staff, parents and community. From day one parents were welcoming and helpful. I'm an educator myself and I can really say that IC is a great place for students to learn and grow. We have great events throughout the year. This school is a hidden gem within san gabriel valley. There was a transition a couple years ago where this school lost many families however with the new dedicated, passionate and diligent principal there is no doubt this school is headed in the right direction. low student to teacher ratio means my kids are getting the utmost attention in areas that are challenging. IC is a great school! This is my 3 year old sons first year in TK. I was a little hesitant about putting him in school so soon, but fortunately they offered half day. Now that we see how much he's learned, both educational and religious, we feel so grateful to have made the decision and he will be attending next year as a TK again but full time. He's learned so much already and has made so many friends. Even the older kids know the little ones names which makes me feel better. read more

Fantastic school tucked away in the foothills of Monrovia. My son came in Kindergarten a year ago and has loved it ever since. He truly enjoys going to school and is excited each day to be there. Smaller class settings really give the teachers more time to spend with the students so no student gets lost in the shuffle. I love the fact that the staff more or less know each student there by name. The school is growing and always has great family cooperation for their events and fundraisers. read more

I love this school for our children! The class size is great! 15 students to 1 teacher!?!? Unheard of in public school. The staff and families are very friendly and welcoming. I know that my kids are safe when they are at school. Teachers really get to know their students and their capabilities. Teachers also make an extra effort to ensure that students are being taught respect and morals. Great school, staff and community. I have had my children here for two years and could not be happier. One-on-one attention with smaller class sizes was important to me as my two girls were beginning a new school and were shy and introverted. Attending IC has given them the confidence to find their identity, interact with others and thrive in school. As a parent, my biggest fear was choosing the right place to leave my children for the day. It is a wonderful feeling to entrust them with a loving and respectful staff and safe environment while I am away. Teachers are experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated and teach much more than is required curriculum. I was pleasantly surprised when my 6 year old daughter came home from class with a song Ms. Rose C. had taught about personal hygiene and the importance of cleaning up properly. As silly as this sounds, these little things make a difference. It made our teacher feel more like family and less like staff. The faculty at IC teach respect and in turn receive it from their students. My children aim to follow the rules and want to set good examples to others. It was important to me for my children to learn a strong faith in God and Immaculate Conception teaches through music, stories, everyday examples and attending mass regularly. I am grateful Immaculate Conception accepted my children and I look forward to spending many more years here growing with this amazing school! read more
