Just to clarify... I have been to this church since childhood and have only known this church as…read moreFIRST BAPTIST TEMPLE CITY. Yes I have been there that long and I will not get into my background. I will try my best to get straight to the point knowing that I believe that it is time to really speak out, so I wish to explain as thorough as I can. Whether or not you will believe this review, I will say most of my experiences, if not all. I had been going to this church... maybe around 1999.... wee bit later/earlier... but around there. However, since the pandemic of 2019, I stopped going. Now, mind you... I have been going to this church EVERY SUNDAY since 1999. First off, the only good thing: the children program is spectacular experience if you have a family who is in search of a community, your children can be involved on children's night playing sports, food provided, bible lessons and at the end of the night, rated G movies. There is a children's theatre that your child can attend to for the yearly Christmas play. There is also times where they offer trips to Thousand Pines. It is a Christian-based camp that is well-known throughout churches of LA and Southern California. And yeah... that's about it... I can say nice things about First Bap-, sorry, I mean ONE HOPE CHURCH. That's the only positive I can speak of. HEED THESE WORDS that I understand truly, that not all churches are "perfect", and are "supposed" to welcome the "imperfect" to make God's grace and purpose, "perfect". HOWEVER... if the "imperfections of sin" is not treated within the church... it will fester and grow until it becomes extremely difficult to be treated, like an untreated infection. That has been of what One Hope (almost typed FBTC) stands, rotten to the core. Now to the point the ugly side of the insides...(thank you for your attention if you have read this far) * 2005/2006 was the turning point where my experiences was going to be a downhill spiral from transitioning from the children's program to youth ministry... What encountered to me was the point that I knew I was not going to have a fun time... now to the major point... This place has a MAJOR(x6) problem with FAVORITISM, JUDGMENTS, AND NEGLIGENCE. Going through youth group was like I never belong there. YES I go places with the church, YES I have always been involved for the church, and YES I have contributed physically emotionally and spiritually by the church but have never been treated the same as the previous youth pastors treated to their own "likings". Its like... there's a chance that you will be liked the moment you walk in as newcomer, or you have earn their "liking" to be on their level which is utterly, insane. There may and will be suffering of the unwelcome-ness, depending of the "chances" you have. Even if one "tries" to work at it, like being constantly being involved with the church/youth group and giving it all; it may be all in vain because they will still not be satisfied. What's really troubling is that they CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITH PERSONAL ISSUES, hence the "judgement". I opened once... and have never again. They "favorite" those who they like. "Judge" to those of who and what they don't understand. Therefore, "neglect" those who they don't wish to check in and help those in need. I was never really "favorited", I have been "judged" constantly, and since I stopped going to "their" church.... they have "neglected" me... and even though my faith in Christ-Almighty have been a constant waver, close to completely losing belief... it was a tell-tale sign to not return to FBTC anymore, of which was supposed to be considered "home" but I now reflect FBTC as "toxic" and "hostile" environment. This a sign to write this post... to speak on behalf of those who have been mistreated, misguided, and misunderstood by this organization. Now... to nearly end this post here, present day of 2023. One of these people who I grew up from children, to teenager, now to adult, is now the youth pastor of One Hope with a lovely wife, and lovely children. Listening through the grapevines... I have heard many negative things about him, but I cannot confirmed since I have not gone back, but I can visualize that he is that person... I have people saying to me how much they "highly dislike" him. Which I am very disappointed to hear words against him... Zachary Bondock, if you are reading this.... call me/message me if any of the words I have displayed upon are wrong, as you are always wanting to be right all your life. Or, you are most welcome to call me to see how I'm doing, as any pastor, who should/would be concern to the one who has not gone back since 2019. Well anyways, hope this post helps. God bless, if I still believe to this point. P.S: Do I still go to church? Why do I not look for another church? To circle back, I am an adult who now have choices and think for oneself.

FLS is a school that educates students to perform above the curve. I personally love the school spirit and enthusiasm for learning that comes with the children and staff. The school even offers extra curricular activities such as sports, cheerleading, yearbook club, student leadership, and worship team to provide students with a well-rounded educaton. With a diverse student population, children of all language levels and cultures are welcome there. I have seen students arrive at FLS speaking little to no English at all, and make leaps and bounds in their English language development. The teachers are experienced, credentialed, and English Language certified, therefore they know exactly how to teach in order to ensure steady language development. Classes are strategically sized in order to provide all students with individual attention and an equal opportunity to succeed. If you are new to the area or just looking for a better school option, FLS is a private school worth looking into. First Lutheran School would be a great fit for any type of learner. I strongly recommend it!

Now that we switched, he loves to go to school. The teachers are so nice and patient. The director has basically been there since the beginning. Teachers have been there for years! That tells you a lot about how much they like their jobs. My kid comes hold and says "mom, I want to be kind. We need to serve the community." Ummmm he's 3! He might be ready to start his own podcast because of this school. Oh, and He's counting to ten in Chinese after only 1 month. I can't say enough good things about this place. So sign up! The boys love etiquette class, gardening, and music class; they are learning how to play the recorder. The small class size ensures they don't "slip between the cracks" and are always held accountable for their actions. Since the school day is from 8am until 4pm and I feel confident that their academic education isn't being sacrificed. Another bonus is they have after school care until 6:30 and they do homework and chess class. We don't speak Mandarin at home and I am pleasantly shocked to hear them speak to each other (probably plotting something).

"What type of education will my child get?" was a type of question I asked. Not only are their teaching standards top notch, but they also teach the students about God in a way I've never seen before. This is a real, legit, Christian school. They teach the kids not only standard education but they also teach children how to hear from God. They raise these children to be truly great selfless leaders that leave an impact in this world. This humble school is truly unique. I've never seen a school marry these principles of hearing from God and having standards of excellence in education. I love also that the parents are also like minded and such a great community that feels like family. One thing I was amazed about was how well the older students took care of the younger kids. They would invite them to play with them and were just so kind to my girls. The staff is so caring and they are always praying for our little ones.

The people are what make the Church what it is and I give them credit for always setting up and doing all they do for Sunday Service. There is even coffee and waters available for free every Sunday. Although the Church does not have the bells and whistles , the Message is bible focused and the people are very welcoming. The Word is spoken here and is constantly put first, and the message of the Services are ones I take with me every week. Giving is optional and never forced , in fact we pray before every offering and reference the bible before every giving which is nice. I very much look forward to the Sunday services given from Pastor Michael but also love how they bring in other Pastors to speak from time to time who are just as amazing. I hope to get more involved soon and the Church makes it feel possible and not pressured, it's actually coming from me which would have never happened if I didn't come here. The Church has a welcoming " next steps " program , multiple different groups, and is always encouraging the people of the community to grow in their Faith together. It makes me feel like home and although I am not actively involved yet, I know if I continue coming , I will be one day.
