I came here from Faith Community Church now known as Authors Church and I am so glad I did. This Church is very welcoming and I am so blessed to have found it! The people are what make the Church what it is and I give them credit for always setting up and doing all they do for Sunday Service. There is even coffee and waters available for free every Sunday. Although the Church does not have the bells and whistles , the Message is bible focused and the people are very welcoming. The Word is spoken here and is constantly put first, and the message of the Services are ones I take with me every week. Giving is optional and never forced , in fact we pray before every offering and reference the bible before every giving which is nice. I very much look forward to the Sunday services given from Pastor Michael but also love how they bring in other Pastors to speak from time to time who are just as amazing. I hope to get more involved soon and the Church makes it feel possible and not pressured, it's actually coming from me which would have never happened if I didn't come here. The Church has a welcoming " next steps " program , multiple different groups, and is always encouraging the people of the community to grow in their Faith together. It makes me feel like home and although I am not actively involved yet, I know if I continue coming , I will be one day. read more

I was an outside vendor hired by The Calling Church here in Pasadena for recurring services over 6 weeks, and let me tell you what an incredible uplifting energy this place has. Pastors Michael and Corinne have created such a special spot in this beautiful community, and the people that come here are some of the kindest and sweetest folks you would ever meet. It was an absolute pleasure serving the crowds here on Sundays and getting to know everyone. I always had a great experience and felt incredibly welcomed by such a warm, supportive, and accommodating group of individuals. We were here for only a shot while before our move out of state. However, the care and love we received in our short time here was very much appreciated. What touched me the most is to be able to see a Pastor who teaches the church he has been entrusted with to give reverence to God during different times in service while he himself also kneels and humbles himself before God and his congregation. His teachings were from scripture and definitely had a way to impact our situation and felt they were written specifically for us!! Now THAT is anointing that I pray continues to bless this Pastor, worship leaders, and congregation so that others can begin the Holy Spirit continues to move. WoW now onto worship. The pastors wife is the lead worship leader and she along with the rest of the worship team do an incredible job at helping usher in the Holy Spirit. They had me crying and teary eyed throughout worship portion of service. Thank goodness that the lights are turned waay down low lol so that one is able to feel comfortable with submission themselves at Gods feet and not feel like someone is watching you. Note that this is not a pretentious church nor does it seem clicky. Everyone seemed kind and genuine. We had a couple conversations with people that we wished we could have had more time to get to know better but we were moving. This is a come as you are spiritually just don't get comfortable in that spiritual space as they will help you learn and grow to be more Christ like. So if you're ok with that and need a church home, stop by visit, and get plugged into a small group, then move onto serving to grow in your walk. I promise if you do, you will meet some incredible people while see you experience God transform your life! read more

Today was my first day visiting The Calling, I moved to this area awhile ago and have been looking for a new "home church". My previous one was in the Inland Empire so it was quite a drive there and back to make it and I knew there had to be somewhere I would feel like it was my spiritual home in the Pasadena area if I kept searching. I happened to find The Calling through Yelp when I searched "church". The positive reviews had me optimistic and when I saw they had a children's ministry I was sold. Since I have a 7 year old, a church with children's ministry is a must for me. Now on to my first day, I typed in the address and made my short drive there to realize it was at a local middle school. My son thought I had the wrong address but I was reassured I did not when I saw the signs for The Calling. We walked up and were greeted by a lovely woman who offered us hot coffee, water, donuts or cookies. My son was sold when he saw the donuts. She pointed to us where the children's ministry was and I signed my son in. Everyone was very warm and welcoming to him and he seemed very comfortable as I dropped him off. I then made my way to the auditorium where another young lady greeted me and showed me where everything was, I made my way into the main room where worship was just starting. Let me tell you about worship, it was BEAUTIFUL! The two singers have amazing voices and I did shed some tears fully surrendering to the moment. The pastor is young and has Gods fire in him. Overall I laughed, I cried and I am so glad I went. After picking up my son he reported back on how he really liked it as well. We are very much looking forward to going back. read more

I found this church using my Yelp app almost 2 years ago - very unusual for me because I've been going to church since before I could walk and have always been led to different churches through word of mouth! Who would ever think you could find a gem of a church using Yelp!?!? Welp #didthat ;) For as long as I could remember I have always had a commute to church and never had the experience of going to a church that was in the neighborhood where I actually lived. So I threw "church" into my Yelp search and a few came up. There were two churches that stood out to me that were within about 5 miles of where I was living at the time ... The Calling was one of the two churches. In fact it was literally 5 minutes from my house!!!! I chose to visit this church first and never ended up visit the 2nd church that had originally seemed interesting. I was instantly content with what I experienced at The Calling. What initially drew my attention was the intimacy of the atmosphere. It was a small gathering of diverse people that seemed down to earth and genuinely warm. I went by myself to visit but strangely did not feel alone. Worship was amazing!!! Super important to me wherever I go church-wise. Pretty sure I shed happy tears while singing - even on that first visit. Of course the sweet atmosphere became that much sweeter when I got ready to head out and saw a complete spread on the table filled with donuts, cookies, coffee, sweet tea, water ... a church after a sugar-holic's heart LOL. I kept going to The Calling until I got married - I was moved by the vision of the young husband and wife team (Pastors Michael & Corrine). Loved that they had a heart for the city of Pasadena and did not have to deal with the limiting, religious red-tape that can sometimes come from being a part of a denomination. If you are looking for a place to feed your soul first and then your belly - check this place out. They are in a small location but their hearts are BIG. No fluff here. This is my favorite church in Pasadena. The Church is 2yrs young. It has a small church feel but, the potential to grow and reach the city of Pasadena and surrounding area. The pastors here are welcoming and I love the diversity of the church. They are very warm,welcoming, authentic, and honest. If you are looking for a church, a community, or have questions this is a great place to come. For the most part it is safe to say that everyone here is encouraging and loving. The fist time I went I never felt like everyone was looking at me especially because I was new. Rather I felt very welcomed and I knew it was genuine. This is a great place to plant yourself and grow. The presence of God is really powerful in this place and the worship is amazing! p.s. There are men and women weekly small groups currently happening. So if you are looking to surround yourself in a safe community this is a great place to visit. read more

We found our home! Since day one at the calling we where greeted by so many of the volunteers. We never felt outcasted as the "new people" we just immediately felt a connection and it has been true ever since. Both the word and worship are filled with the spirit, which is very important to us. We have a one year old, my husband and I alternate caring for him outside during the word because there is no nursery, we are told they are working on it. There's is always coffee and drinks available before and after service which creates a lovely environment to have community. read more

I stumbled upon this gem of a church thanks to word of mouth from some friends. I had never been to a church opening, so I was a little curious as to how it would go. I went to the very service and I would never guessed that it was the first service. Everyone and everything seemed so familiar. It is in a small, intimate space and is the perfect size for those of us who do not prefer huge, "mega" churches. Worship was amazing. It was simple and did not have too many bells and whistles, which allows you to close your eyes and be in your own worship (if that makes any sense!). The pastor seemed very relatable and down to earth. Even in the first message, he let us know that he is not perfect, nor is his family. In my opinion, this is something that I look for in a pastor. I am not a fan of pastors who seem like they are almost speaking down to you because they have never experiences some trials and tribulations that the congregation has. It also did not hurt that there was a taco man after the service! I am sure that this will not be happening after every service but it was definitely a perk. Who knows! Maybe if we tithe enough, we can get tacos all the time! Overall, I will definitely be back to this church. I felt so welcomed and loved even though I knew no one there. It's crazy! The best way I could describe this church is like finding a whole in the wall restaurant that you keep falling in love with each time you go. So if you aren't Christian or are curious about finding out about Jesus this place is for you. The staff and volunteers are immensely gifted and caring. It;s a great church with wonderful and caring people, where handshakes won;t do, instead you are received by a warm hug and a big smile. Pastor Michael has had a hard life, so he can relate, so if your hurting, lost, alone or hopeless this is the church for you. Pastors messages are always right on target. It is very heartwarming walking in with fresh coffee, waters and sweet pastries in case you didn't get a chance to eat breakfast before service. I searched this church on Yelp. I am very lucky to find my home. Pastor Michael and Corinne are very kind and nice to each brother and sister. As a Chinese, I only attended two churches in L.A. The first church is luxury but they never teach us Bible. The pastor of second church is very knowledgeable but she only speaks Chinese. Meanwhile, most of brothers and sisters in those churches don't have the ability to speak English. In my opinion, all of newcomers should study English and make friends with foreigners. Brother Henry who is filipinos is very generous old person. He not only helps me with my English but also brings me to his business. I learned a lot of experience from him. The church is very diversity. Most of brothers and sisters are very enthusiasm and friendly. God tells us that love is better than hate. I really appreciate Pastor gave me the golden opportunity to merger into American society. read more

The church is just starting to it's off to some humble beginnings but it's exciting to be there because you can see increase is constantly happening. We came from a large church where we felt it was difficult to get involved in ministry. We were looking for three things: 1) a church in which both us and the church could grow; 2) great worship; and 3) a great pastor with deep, powerful, and impressionable messages. At The Calling, we found all three! From day one, the people were so welcoming and inviting, the worship was amazing, and Pastor Michael's message was extremely impactful.
