We got a quiche, the Blue Bayou, the Millennial Falcon, and two different coffees. Obviously the important thing is parking which was easy on a Sunday morning because really where is everybody in central Texas at that time during the week? Place was HUGE but comfortable at the same time. They had a corner with games and toys for families and kids. The spice section had delicious flavored sugars that we didn't get because our four year old was ready to go. Breakfast was the perfect size. Sometimes you expect a really large portion then feel disgusting but the amount they gave was just right. They all came with a side of fruit and yogurt. Coffee was a little sweet and less coffee than flavor but that's okay because we were expecting that. The German chocolate coffee drink is the way to go. Overall a good experience.

I tried to order a Small iced latte, and she rang me up for it and made my drink. Turns out... they don't have cups for a small latte. So without my knowledge, she just made a latte in a medium cup with one shot of espresso and filled the rest of the cup up with milk. Medium cups typically get 2 shots of espresso for reference. So I was essentially served milk with a touch of coffee. It was awful!!! I would have at least appreciated some communication about them not having a small cup because I would've ordered something else, but the employee was not easy to talk to lol

Stopped by for dinner during a weekend birthday celebration in Burton. I love how many businesses…read morein these small towns are set up in converted homes. It gives everything a cozy, charming feel with a lot of character. Parking, though, can be tricky. It's limited, and if you're wearing heels, the rocky ground and steep hill can make it a bit of a challenge when the lot fills up. We had reservations but arrived a little early, and they were able to seat us without an issue. Service was solid overall. The staff was quick to let us know what items were unavailable, which helped with decision-making. I did notice a dish being served that wasn't on the menu, and when I asked about it, we found out it was a seafood and noodle special. Two of us decided to try it. For food, we started with the sautéed garlic ricotta appetizer, which was a standout. It had a really nice balance of mild sweetness and savory flavor. The eggplant parmesan was huge and easily shareable between two people, with great flavor throughout. Honestly, most of the portions felt big enough to split. I ordered the seafood special, and while the flavor was decent, the shrimp were consistently overcooked and chewy, which made it hard to enjoy. The mussels were the highlight of the dish, though they reminded me of the frozen kind you can heat up at home. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to recommend, but if it were the only option in town, I'd consider going back.

The Not So Good: Although happy they had a parking lot - wish there was more. The Ugly: The special of the night - seafood over pasta. Noodles were light and delicious, seafood looked fresh but everything was overshadowed by the level of garlic. I love garlic but not when that's all I taste. Such a shame because it had great potential.

Those who may not know, a taqueria is not just simply a Mexican restaurant but often combined a frutería with its aqua frescas, paletas, fruit, milk shakes limonados and so forth with usually a food stand having tacos, tortas, caldos and so forth. This is definitely something I missed. As always beginning with the service. Friendly and helpful as usual. The food was great and yes does remind me of similar restaurants in San Antonio. It is always a good sign when you are the only gringo in one of these places. I did try a paleta de coco and it was ok...too sweet for my taste. Next time I need to try the mango though it is going to be difficult to bet El Paraiso from San Antonio. Overall a great place and I will return to get a taste that is not available anywhere around here. Now on to find decent traditional Tex-Mex food around here, something of a challenge apparently.
