So, here's the thing - I love Ruff's, just not Ruff's Burgers. To clarify: the place is funky and conveniently-located, the servers are always friendly even when facing a long line of grumpy hipsters, and I love sitting outside and people watching. Their fries are hot and crispy, their free sauces are addictive, and their prices are fair; 10 EUR gets you a burger, fries & drink. The problem is the beef. My favorite burger is topped with guacamole & delectable bacon, and the fresh bun never disappoints. Unfortunately, the patty does every time. Despite requesting "medium rare", I always receive a charred, crusty, flavorless gray patty and basically eat around it because the rest of the ensemble is so fabulous. Lucky for Ruff's, I'm not hugely passionate about hamburger meat in general, and usually picking the layers apart and gorging myself on fries satisfies my hunger. My husband, on the other hand - something of a burger connoisseur - is decidedly less forgiving. So, a warning to the beef-lovers out there: Ruff's gets everything *else* right. This is the favorite restaurant of one of my good friends, and I'm always happy to accompany him; but for whatever reason, Ruff's just can't seem to achieve a properly-cooked, flavorful, juicy patty. ...but I mentioned the bacon, right?

    It wasn't very clean...

This place wasn't very clean (I'd never sit inside here and eat - outside looked way better but was completely filled up) and the people weren't very nice, but both their burgers, the fries and the sauce were extremely delicious - and didn't cost much. Ruff's Burger is like most burger places: you order a burger and you order side dishes. It didn't take a long time before I got my food and it was very nicely packed up for take-away. I had a veggie burger made of vegetables (which almost tasted like a meat-burger!), a small french fries and mayonnaise - which I didn't have to pay for. It costed € 7,20 and was highly enjoyed in the little park on the other side of the street.

Finally tried this burger place behind Münchener Freiheit last weekend. The good reviews and appetizing photos drew me right in. Like so many others in town, it's a self-served gourmet burger kinda place. The menu is relative small, they don't seem to have too many crazy toppings or anything like that. I ordered the double cheeseburger and got some bacon from the gf's avocado burger. And unlike some other reviewers, I asked for medium and the patties had some pink. But the burger didn't wow me, it was a decent sized beast with a fresh bun, but it needed more..flavor. The avocado burger tasted also flat. But the fries were crispy and the house dips were tasty. It had nice decor and at 6 euros for a single and 8 euros for a double, the price is more than reasonable for the city. All in all an okay place to get a burger and fries, will probably visit again.

One of the best burger joints in town. Period. I've tried most of the rest of the places in Munich and Ruff's beats them all hands down. The reason is very simple: fresh and homemade ingredients. The burger patties, for example, are not frozen. You can tell because the meat has far more flavour than at most other places. What Ruff's also does well is that they keep their burgers simple. Because the amount of ingredients isn't excessive, it's very easy to eat them with your hands. What I really liked was that they also offer a weekly special in my case, it was the avocado burger. I van only recommend this place. Give it a shot next time you are in Munich.

First restaurant I ate out in in Munich. Good service, however waitresses were slow to respond. Burger was pretty good- sauces blended well.

It was late and we just wanted some burgers. The service was very friendly and the food was fast-ish, and tasted okay.

We have looked forward to all the dishes that aren't readily available at home, but sometimes good ole comfort food is what we need. This fit the bill. My wife had a salads and I opted for the cheese burger with added bacon, and a side of fries. The drinks were great as well, We so wish that the U.S. would adopt the serving style where the alcohol is in the glass and they bring the soda in a bottle to be added at the table. In the U.S., it usually comes from a soda gun that might, or might not be clean, and is always flat. My burger was cooked medium, with a bit of pink, just the way I like it. The fries were soft in the middle with a slight crunch to them, with flaky salt. My wife's salad had a bit too much dressing for her tastes but I thought it was good. We have started sharing meals this way, as our appetites are smaller now that we are getting a bit older.

For my first time here I tried their "Cheese Explosion Burger". This monster lives up to its name! I forget how many cheeses this thing has because quite frankly I never heard of some of them before. But rather than ketchup, mayo, or some special dressing...this burger comes with nacho cheese as its condiment. Again the name: Cheese Explosion. As you can see from my photo it is also garnished with two kinds of fried cheese skewered to the top bun. Cheese Explosion. At the risk of stating the obvious: this is a burger for folks who love cheese. Also, if you don't like pink in your burger...make sure to tell them. They serve all their burgers medium.

The restaurant has a comfortable feel with its painted green walls and tree-filled wallpaper. Dimly lit with candles and having both high and low dining tables, one can go there with a group of friends or as a date. The selections of burgers and its toppings were plentiful ranging from the basics (hamburger, cheeseburger) to their themed specials such as "Rotkäppchen," "Jägersmann," "Großmutter." Non-beef eaters, fear not, they have chicken or vegetarian patties as well. We ordered the night specials: burger with sides + large drink for the price of burger + 6 EUR. There were lots of choices, so we had to order like this: Toppings: BBQ-sauce, cheese, fried onions with additional mushrooms (for 30 cents extra) Meat: 140 g beef patty (fresh from the daily market as advertised) Bread: whole grain (can choose between wheat or whole grain) Side: crispy onion rings with BBQ sauce Drink: "Saftschorle" And repeat another order with "Rotkäppchen" (rucola, cheese, balsamic-fig dressing) / vegetarian patty / whole grain / fries / beer. I was quite happy with my BBQ burger. Beef was cooked medium well but not too dry. The fried onions and mushrooms were great compliments to the burger, and I liked the whole grain bun instead of the classic white bread. C was also enjoying his Rotkäppchen burger, but the vegetarian patty is surprisingly spicier than expected. I look forward to try their other burger combinations.

The restaurant was just a ten minute walk from the hotel and on the way we passed a multitude of restaurants. We walked into a very friendly and busy environment. You could tell all the people sitting around us were having a good time and eating what looked like some really good food. We went to a side room that was just a bit quieter and without missing a beat... ordered a beer. Hard to make a choice with their comprehensive menu, but keeping with our tradition of eating lighter in the evening while traveling we went with: - Tomato and Mozzarella salad - A large piece of toasted bread - Veal Schnitzel with potatoes - Apple Strudel Without going through each item in detail I will say that everything was fantastic! Tomatoes and cheese were so fresh and tasty and the schnitzel was wonderful... Not enough good things to say about the amazing strudel..... Nothing like having apple strudel in Germany. Everyone here was just so friendly and helpful to us. We had a wonderful time and I am happy to recommend them to anyone coming to Munich! KUDOs to the team at Münchner Stubn.
