Also viewed pictures of color that I liked. I appreciated how she not only gave me her professional opinion on which color(s) to use, but she also explained in detail what she was going to do. She was very thorough and I can't say thank you enough for her taking the time to do all that. My color turned out beautiful and I am so happy with the results. Kaitlin is awesome! I've also been in one time a few weeks ago and had a hair cut with Megan Hamlin. She was the same in discussing with me what would be best for my hair and lifestyle. I like low maintenance. I haven't had short hair in over 6 years and was hesitant to cut it. Megan did great and I love my shorter hair...more than I thought I would. Thanks ladies!!

After receiving a recommendation, I visited Julie Branstetter and was not disappointed. It was great to have someone listen to what I wanted in a cut and color and suggest what works best for me, from a personality fit to the most flattering for my face shape. Julie is fantastic! She carefully colors, cuts, and styles my hair rather than rushing through it - every time. Julie has a great sense of style, is kind, witty, fun, incredibly talented, and gives the right professional advice. FABULOUS HAIR SALON AND SPA!!!…read more I recently just moved into the area from New York. I had a few experiences with the local salons that left me wanting and concerned that anyone knew what current hairstyles and colors were all about. I was getting very saddened that I would not find a quality salon that had the experience and current styles I was looking for. Luckily my sister-in-law suggested her hairdresser, Alicia B. at 1051 salon and spa out of Wilmington, North Carolina. My first visit with her was like heaven. She and her assistant were extraordinarily attentive and she totally got my vibe and what I was looking for. She is extremely talented and a lot of fun to talk to and I had a wonderful time. Such a good time in fact that I went back to the front desk to see if they had any openings for the spa and they fit me in for a facial. All in all, the day went great! Love my new hairstyle and love Alicia. Thank you 1051 salon and spa. You've given me a little taste of NYC which I was missing terribly. I look forward to my next cut!

Katie at Sea Ray Salon is HANDS DOWN THE BEST STYLIST I have EVER had the pleasure of working with…read more When I asked her how long she had been doing hair I was shocked to learn that she had just finished school, then much less surprised when she told me she had graduated at the top of her class AND received honors. As a self-proclaimed tomboy, I'm always nervous to work with a new stylist out of fear that I'm going to end up with a hard-to-maintain and style super complicated 'do. However, Katie styled my hair in a way that made me feel more feminine than ever without feeling like I was getting ready for prom. The cut and color both looked and felt so natural and I have never before felt so stylish and pretty! One thing that I TRULY appreciate about her is the fact that she LISTENS. I wear my hair in a ponytail every single day for work and too many stylists have ignored me when I said this. In the past I would too frequently end up with a cut so short that I had this tiny little ridiculous ponytail and hair falling all over the place (including in to my eyes). Katie cut my hair to the perfect length where it looked healthier and fuller but still left a great looking ponytail! (And on her first try, at that!) Most importantly (to me, anyway) is that Katie really took the time to teach me how to work with my hair and new 'do. I never used to spend a lot of time on it but now I look forward to going out so that I can work to replicate what she did when she styled it. With the explicit instructions that she gave me I'm getting better and better at it each time and still ALWAYS get compliments on how great it looks! Needless to say, I cannot recommend Katie highly enough and look forward to my next trip to Wilmington so that I can go back to her!!!

I asked him politely (via text message) to please add a few more highlights and a toner to my hair, as one side looked different (lots more highlights and very yellow/brassy) than the other side (it was so noticeable that even my son's babysitter asked me about it). In response, he tells me that I looked like a disaster when I came to him (which was extremely rude and not even true). Then he tells me that his first appointment isn't for another six weeks. I politely responded that I was simply requesting a minimal correction, which was common courtesy in his profession. He responded by saying "good bye" and "you're blocked"!?! He also left me a scathing (and insane) voice message while I was feeding my toddler. I tried calling him back but he wouldn't respond. I'm honestly in shock right now. This man is in his 50s and claims to have been doing hair for decades. How he thinks he can treat people this way and still have clients is unfathomable to me. Oh, and he charged me $200 (would only accept cash) to do my hair at his house (which reaks of tobacco smoke) for this hair disaster that I'm going to have to pay someone else to fix for me. Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS!!! (I've posted the text messages to prove what an insane jerk this guy is.)
